Of course as always the fools come out in droves. Those fools are the ones that can not even discern one iota of goodness and positive qualities that Christianity has brought to the West: particularly the United States of America. The speak solely form biases and emotion that is cynical and useless. Even an intelligent atheist would appreciate the positive contributions Christianity has brought (and I have run into many that have) but the ranters are here! This was part of our values evolution.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
(1st amendment of the U.S. Constitution)
Translation, the U.S. government shall neithrer surpress nor support, religion.
So this entire documentary about the various beliefs among Americans about how best to please some immaginary sky-daddy, so he won't torture them for eternity for the crime of bring imperfect, is a moot point.
religion is a creation of man to keep its practitioners in line. God created humans to live freely and to choose whether to trust Him or not.
while some good things have come out of religion, ultimately religion is not a good things because it binds people and keeps them from knowing who God really is, and that is the kindest person ever.
even though many of His "followers" don't reflect that kindness, that doesn't mean He isn't kind, just that people don't know who He is.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; " That's all it says. I'm free to pray in public, you're free to be an atheist. You're not free to cry about my praying and force me to stop. I'm pretty sure that is a law respecting an establishment of religion. The intent behind the law in 1791? FREEDOM TO BE A CHRISTIAN. Not a muslim, atheist, not a wiccan, witch, satanist or anything else.
Continued from last post... is what caused me to cry. Through that vision of seeing JESUS nailed to the cross - GOD was telling me that 1.) all of HIS children do not worship HIM and 2.) all of HIS children will not be with HIM in HIS kingdom. The truth is I already knew that... but to have GOD directly tell it too me like that and actually seeing it from HIS point of view made me cry. Because for the 1st time I actually understood how GOD feels about those who ignore HIM.
@ultragoji1 You know what made me cry? Trying to read Chronicles. A begat B begat C begat honestly? Did you really sit down and read that? I couldn't do it even just to say I did. The plot gets a little bit dry in that spot.
I speak of the experience I had 3 years ago. When I read the entire Bible I said outloud to GOD "I know 2 things YOU desire the most - 1.) Is for all YOUR children to worship YOU and 2.) is for all of YOUR children to be with YOU in YOUR kingdom". Just as soon as I finished saying that... everything I saw disappeared and all I could see was JESUS nailed to the cross. GOD made it clear to me that JESUS is the only way you can get to GOD, the FATHER. But the hidden meaning behind it is what...
America was founded by protestant people looking for religious freedom from the roman catholic church. If you paid attention in school, you would know this. Then America was being overrun by atheist and gays. Being a FREE country we allowed them to stay their ways. But 200 Years later the numbers switch and now We Christians are being persecuted for being different.
@GeckoKing44 Do you also notice how illegal aliens are taking our jobs away from us? This is what also happens if you stray away from GOD - Deutoronomy 28: Verses 43-44... The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high: and thou shalt come down very low. He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail. ... It proves that GOD does NOT change what HE stated. Look around and you'll see what I mentioned IS happening.
Do not forget the influence of the heritage of Greek Democracy and the Roman Republic. The American Founders had a classical education and they were inspired by Ancient Greece and the Republic of Rome. Political Christianity from Europe was not what the American Experiment was about. The Enlightenment and the Classical world were very influential in the philosophy of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.
Yeah, the indians had it right to rebel.. religion is bullshit.
