Alright guys, as promised, I gave Chris Liebing a go this year at Nature One - and I stayed the whole event in the Techno Tent ;)

Now I know what you mean, in a big hall, you don't need any melody - you need fat basses and pounding rythms in combination with interesting effects, percussions and breakdowns at the right time. Now I love Techno and prefer it over other genres to dance to - but still, I prefer Trance to listen at home, when it comes to emotions, it's perfect ;)

Jedem das seine, aber irgendwie hab ich nie kapiert, was Leute an Schranz gut finden. Hab nach ner 15 jährigen Suche durch alle elektronischen Genres so gut wie schon alles gehört, aber das Geilste ist meiner Meinung nach immer noch Chicago House und Detroit Tec der mid 80er. Saunderson, Atkins, Larkin etc. Das Zeug kann ich stundenlang hören und fühl mich einfach nur gut. The Gathering von Neil Howard ist z.Z. einer meiner absoluten Favorites! (einfach mal hier bei U-tube auschecken!)

I always find it strange when people say Techno doesn't do much and just plays the same beats for 5 mins. I listened to Trance when I was younger but I think there's a lot more to Techno.

It's actually the opposite of "just playing the same beat" The changes in a Techno track might be more subtle but there's a hell of a lot more changes than in a Trance tune, it's just not simple music, way more complex and intricate than Trance. I suppose lot depends on how deeply you listen to the music.

well for one, and coming from a fellow "aquarius," you should be alot more open-minded. Why should one require extensive amounts of complexity in order for a musical piece to be deemed "listenable"? Take a look at indigenous/tribal people for example and listen to some of their music - some good stuff you'll find for sure. Was Du als Kommerzschranz bezeichnest ist halt kein Schranz, sondern Techno oder Mainstream Techno (Talla2XLC u.s.w.) und Rave.

Hat sich im übrigen nicht aus Schranz heraus entwickelt.
