Key H-Game "Kanon" Opening Movie: Last Regrets

I'm just going to though out there that quite a few anime originate as H-games. Most anything from KEY (Air, Kanon, etc.) and Type-Moon (Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime) for example.

When such visual novels become popular the company that created them will, of course, want to cash in on the popularity. Normally by creating a non-H version of the game allowing for a broader audience. Should that go well, they can make more money by creating an anime based on the non-H version of the game.

Hm... I'm not sure an h-game version of Kanon is necessary or even a good idea. All the girls were so innocent and cute that it seems almost sacrilege.

Except the game was ORIGINALLY an H-Game back when it was released in 1999. It was re-released as an all-ages version after the story proved surprisingly popular past the creators' wildest expectations.

While there are many that focus on the sexual content many other poular Visual novels have H-scenes as a reward for achieving a perfect ending, the Key/Visual arts visual novels are examples of such games, they are mostly played for the story rather than the promise of H-scenes. Another example of this is the imensely popular Fate/stay night, although it is an eroge the erotic content is not the primary focus.

To clarify, I do believe that this opening probably does exist somewhere in the game (even though I haven't seen this clip or heard this audio) since this short version of last regrets is included in the sound test option. (I'm just not sure where the clip is.) The song which normally plays when you start up the game is titled, "Morning Shadow," and the one that plays after the train station is titled, "Ruined Dream." (Both being English translations of the Japanese titles.)

Theres a bunch of different editions of the game so its probably not in all of them

It SHOULD play shortly after the opening scene in which Yuuichi, sitting on a bench at the train station, is discovered by Nayuki and he finally remembers her name.

Yes but the version I hear is a the song that plays "Last Regrets" BGM but without vocals? I think that this BGM is titled "Ruined dream," and it plays while Nayuki is touching her cheek and he's rambling about "7 years ago..."

They call it "ruined dream," which is the vocal-less version. I don't know why. You can look the song up on YT.

"Ruined Dream" is originally a BGM, and it has a similar but slower tune and is played with a music box or something similar and has no vocals, while Last Regrets has numerous instruments, is faster, and has the vocals.

No, I ran out of room. Youtube only allows a certain amount of characters alloted to tags, and I had to delete SOMETHING in order to make room for all the tags I put. It just so happened that Ayu had one of the longest last names, so I deleted that so I could fit everything else into the limited space I had.

so it would seem...except the ages are like 17-19, and the series was based off this, infact everything kanon came from this essentially porn game. if it gives you reassurance the sex was minimal and (while i cant find the game, there is an all ages version too btw) the story lines (multiple per character) were even better than the anime

Don't forget some lame ass companies like 4kids also piss away their money to Gonzo to make anime for them as well however.... Gonzo is alright so it's kind of a hard battle to figure out. I didn't like what they did with black cat (change a lot of plot) I'm also a fan of the 2006 version it's way better detailed and drawn.

Because the 2002 version was made by Toei. One of the oldest animation companies in Japan. byt they are not rich like the company who made the 2006 remake, Kyoto animations, despite age. Kyoto has been doing some crazy expensive animes lately like Kanon and Suzumiya. Toei has a habbit of wanting to make things original... So they change almost everything...
