I would love that if it was true but Jim Butcher doesn't get the rights back until 2012. Until then Lionsgate has them. After that Jim Butcher has to find a buyer. And then the buyer has to have a script written and after that comes development... It could be a good ten years before there's a Dresden Files movie if it's done after Lionsgate loses the rights in two years.

Oh, you have to be out of your mind. Even Jim Butcher said he preferred Bob of the TV show. Think about it. There either would have been a CGI skull or a puppet. It doesn't translate well. Terrence Mann is a Broadway icon. I'm glad they upgraded.

I have never seen this show but I believe I am going to start. I was stunned to find that our musical theatre teacher, Terrence Mann, is also in the show and by the looks of it a lead character.

You have Terrence Mann as your teacher?! Oh, God! you're taking him for granted. There are people on Broadway who would sell their souls to get him into their plays. He's a legend.

I ended up watching the entire series here and I enjoyed it a great deal. He is a teacher here. He stays a semester, does a musical production as a director, and then leaves. Our school is very proud of it and we want him to have his career.

He is a wonderful actor and a neat person.

5 stars~ You really got loneliness of both their characters; it's interesting that the effect is just as powerful stopping at 03:40 (which I guess one could call the "sad ending") as it as at the very end (the real, "happy" one).

it wasnt really canceled.. it was completed. The Dresden Files were originally books... they ran out of books... and the author hasnt writen anymore i dont believe. or at least... not enough to make a new season.

To quote Jim Butcher (remember him? He wrote the books) you have to look at it as a separate universe. Same Harry, different world and adventures. They were never meant to be adaptations of the already existing stories save for Storm Front.

Actually there is plenty of material from the books that would suffice for the series. I do believe the was actually canceled. There are currently around 10 books out, with Small Favor being the most recent I would consider that plenty to build upon. Also the author does hope to reach twenty books. As unfortunate as that is.

They cancelled it. It wasn't getting the reviews they wanted. Of course, if they hadn't went so off the wall from teh books, maybe more people would have watched it!

i have been reading them actually! you're right, its completly different. But there are a few things that i like a little better in the show.. but only a little.

but it reading them it pissed me off that detective Kermony (or how ever you spell it) didnt DIE in the show!! i hated him!!

Personally, I thought Kirmani provided some much-needed pure cynicism to the role, much like Carmichael, his counterpart in the books. Murphy is more ready to accept the role of magic in the crime rate in Chicago, both in the books and in the TV show. Kirmani, however, believes that Harry is just another crock who is trying to take money from innocent believers and refuses to believe otherwise.

And the show was meant to be a departure from the books. It could have gotten bad reviews...

Healer, please do NOT perpetuate false rumours. The Dresden Files was well recieved adn was the third highest rated show on the scifi channel during it's original run, occasionally beating the ratings for Battlestar Galactica. I would think you to NOT lie. It's bad enough people believe it when it's told to them, but if you don't actually know you should look up the ratings. The records are public access.

That's one of the biggest mysteries. But if you go to scifi com's archives, or Neilson com or dresdencity org the ratings records for 2007 are kept and there was even a week or two where it beat Battlestar Galactica. Weirder still is Scifi doesn't correct the rumour. They let people think it had low ratings. It's even what the editorial reviewer for amazon thought. Robert Wolfe (producer) felt we might have been 'the wrong demographic.' Older females instead of (scifi wanted) younger males.

Bob was the best part of that show --- the stories though were always just textbook awful which is probably why the show got the axe ... its sad both Dresden and bob were cast wonderfully even Murphy wasn't bad. And yes I've read the books. The TV series though ... almost another Joss Wedon menstruation.

Molly would have taken a LONG time to appear in the show. Unfortunately Michael is a character who wouldn't translate well on TV. Religious zealots would find it offensive he's associating with a 'Pagan' and then some Pagans would have viewed him as a self righteous bible thumper. It's hard to translate a character like him. I know they toyed with bringing in a show version of Thomas Raith which I'd have loved to have seen.

Jyohan, why don't you go to the Jim Butcher forum and save yourself a lot of trouble by reading what the author had to say.

1. Dresden's over six feet tall in his late thirties with dark hair. Paul Blackthorne=6'4 and 35 years. That IS Harry Dresden. 2. The talking skull wasn't translating well. It was a choice of CGI or puppet and either way it wasn't translating well. So they got a Broadway icon and revised the character. Jim Butcher said he actually felt the show version worked better.

there's three other shows hitting broadcast TV with supernatural themes. NBC/USA/SciFi Combo would be stupid to drop TDF at this point... they sponsored a theme movement, IMHO. Broadcast TV must like the large female viewership of TDF...
