hey man!! a huge thank you! i've been looking to play that run at the end since i learned the song a few weeks ago and being a drummer, just don't have the experience to figure this stuff out! you made my day!
Great vid -- for some reason I am still having a problem matching the strumming pattern to the hammer on. I have been alienating my entire family with the awful sound I have been making -- LOL. Any help?
Great video! I love your no nonsense attitude and when you say something sounds cool i'm literally thinking it just as you are saying it so well done...one little suggestion though: try changing that first F# in the chorus to a D with the F# on the low E instead of the high e (muting the A isn't necessary). Just food for thought, if you don't like it that's all good 2.
Thanks so much man, I have been looking everywhere for a decent teaching of the chorus and ending and this really did the trick. Thanks again, possibly a response soon with me playing it.
your videos are spot on my man, i loved seeing the progression of this song over the summer last year. And of course tim just takes the song to a whole nother level. In a sense im kind of glad butch left the band, i only really liked him on a handful of songs, i think tim is a much better fit for theyre live shows, it enables them to do a lot cooler things. anyways keep up the great work!
totally lost..but it's nice to see you know what you're doing...you never give fret numbers or figer placement or anything..maybe someone who already knows how to play this can figure it out but I do not...which is why I tried watching this
@ravensfan5392 Honestly, if you don't know the names, or even how to look them up, you are too lazy :-( It's 10.000 times easier. Also, I would say for most guitar players, having a basic knowledge of chords, atleast majors, minors and I guess some sus aswell, is the least you can do.
But maybe I undestand your comment wrong. Maybe you are actually looking for tabs for a special reason.
@Amotaraso that is exactly what I meant. Guitar TAB is for books when you CAN NOT see the person playing. Otherwise..... a simple chord name in reference to what you SEE in the video should suffice. If that's not enough then yes... you are either lazy or not up to the level required to play this song. This is my opinion after 20 years of teaching. If poeple don't like it..... find other teacher right? ;)
what a great video... i cant wait til Dec. 12 when i get to see One Sweet World live at the Turning Stone. also i would love to see a video on how to play Sugar Will. that would be amazing.
I love your videos, darzik. They are helping me re-learn the guitar. Just one question: for the intro, are you barring the 9th fret and simply moving it up and down? I'm trying to barre it, and my fingers just can't do it without muting everything; I'm wondering if it's an issue of dexterity...
man...i dont even know how to riff like you are...could you give me some insight how you are riffing...ahhhh i hate not knowing anything...i guess i should just get lessons..
Droning...... when a single tone is played throughout. In this example.... E is played for the first chord section then A for the next :-) Hope that helps
Well my good friend Anthony, I wanted to take moment and thank you for a job well done!
I have to admit that I'm a newcomer to the DMB fan club (don't ask me what took me so long :P), I just recently picked up Live at Radio City and I fell in love with pretty much every songs on the album.
I got myself a new guitar yesterday (yay!) and started learning some of my favorite songs. Your videos really help allot!
wow. you did amazing. your rhythms were excatly correct. chord progressions were right. tres bien. ive been tryin to learn this song for awhile but never could get the rhythm right esp the opening riff. this helped. thanks alot.
Fair enough, I know a detailed video would be very long (not that that's necessarily a bad thing), and I realize your vids are probably not intended for beginners, it's just that the only info and advice I've found on it thus far is "keep practicing & it'll come to you", which really doesn't help me. It's the only thing I'm struggling with so I get kind of fired up about it. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. A Dave style vid would be awesome though. :)
Just an idea for your future vids, if you could explain the strumming & rhythms a little bit, because sometimes it's tricky to tell what you're doing (for me anyway). But I'm pretty much a novice so I might just have to do some research on my own. Other than that I think your vids are great! :)
Hi VMAM, for me to explain every little detail would be a much longer video. Daves strumming patturn I have to say...is pretty simple. I remember reading an article where Dave said his guitar teacher said "Start strumming and don't stop".

do you know how to play the outro to this song, the one they play live where dave screams?
bwb0028 2 years ago
E...G#-A...D...C#
E is a open chord, but the other 3 are played as octaves, using index and pinky. Hope that helps.

are you serious? I'm giving you the notes and strings... what more do you want?

the majority of people who look up songs are looking for fret numbers like in tabs. no one goes by note names

and you don't have to react like that to everyone who tries to offer constructive criticism.

an up close view of the entire fretboard isn't any help I guess
