my mayor is one of the original mob guys that the sheriff buford pusser ran out of town. lol. he doesnt let the cops pull ppl over and our city has gotten really big in the last 20 years thanks to him and there is no corruption, even though he is a crook. we have low taxes and all the small businesses have gotten big and the economy is great here.
It's kind of a fitting death for a woman who aided, abetted and committed murders herself when you think about it.She and Douglas "Towhead" White set up Jack Hathcock to be murdered and the evidence falsified to make it look like a justified killing. While it's true that Sheriff Pusser stepped outside the law more than once I really don't believe that he shot Louise Hathcock without justifiable cause.
And if Hathcock had survived we would be debating it...just as we are anyway. Anyone can attempt to justify their actions just as Pusser attempted to. That doesn't make him right just because Hathcock was not there to give her side of the story. I think the official autopsy report says volumns for her.
@spQQks "The truth has no agenda". The autopsy report does not lie. Hathcock was shot twice in the back. According to Pusser, those were his first two shots.
@mikeelam2010 So, Buford Pusser took a person off the board who was running prostitutes. What a service to all the rest of us. How would you feel if your daughter was being run as a prostitute by this woman? Different, one would hope.
Guess I have an agenda now, still going to keep looking though, my addiction is to information, and that is still pretty much free.
What I see so far is Buford Pusser should have taken way more scum off the boards.
@mikeelam2010 I guess I do have an agenda after all... I want to know what happened. If Buford Pusser took this pimp off the boards good for him. Too bad he didn't live longer so he could make more of a dent into the so called State Line Mob and the Dixie Mafia.
The truth is you play, you pay. Everyone, the good, bad ans well intentioned.
@spQQks Tell us what you think you know about "the state line mob" and then I'll give you the facts. Who were they? What all were they really into? Tell us about the crimes they committed. The real story is more amazing than the one W.R. Morris told or what was suggested in the movie "WALKING TALL".
@mikeelam2010 From what I've been able to find in the week I've been researching this, the State Line Mob were into selling women for sex, gambling and possibly illegal liquor/drug activities. Probably killing folks who didn't pay up or play the game their way. Buford Pusser was no angel. He cracked heads to get the job done. I don't believe he killed Pauline or shot himself in his own face. That is not the personality of a wife killer.
@mikeelam2010 Since you seem to be "in the know" why don't you save me some trouble and tell me who you are, how you are related to this saga? Let me know why you are an "expert" on this subject. Please. I'm dying to know.
Elam you've been perpetuating this theory forever. I've never seen any publicized official documentation which says there is a corresponding bullet hole in the floor beneath Hathcock's head while she lay on the floor. Doesn't W.R. Morris book, say the first shot hit her in the jaw? If true, muzzle energy and cadaveric spasm could've caused her to turn around causing Pusser's subsequent shots, to wound her in the back. Doesn't that sound plausible to you?
@MrWscotts I go by what Buford himself claimed..., that his first shot was to her shoulder and the second was to her torso. Both shots entered her back. Keep in mind that the autposy report didn't surface for almost forty years so people, absent this information, drew their conclusions of the shooting with incomplete and inaccurate information. Look at the report. The first shot was to her left shoulder, she should have spun to the right, yet the second shot was even more to her left.
Its justifiable homicide she was criminal she was being investigated and about to be caught. She was trying to kill BP and screwed up he ended up getting the drop on her and maybe there was enough time beg for her life in just a few words then it was too late BP was blasting bullets. Adrenaline and the impatience added up to a dead body UP IN HERE. She pulled a gun and fired as we know the 38 in the post gun jammed by then PB did what he was trained to do. He hated her from way back
However she was killed she needed to be killed. One less low life scum of the earth in this great state generating the corruption she was generating. I think Louise was behind the first ambush of Buford when he pulled a female over and was ambushed by a male passenger in the car. She got what she deserved.
I bet Loise head looked like a ripe mellon. Why would Louise fire a shot in the first place Only the criminals make a great deal of these claims. The Hathcocks were up to no good Out of the shamrock there were stories of bodies surfacing for years They were ripping off people and finally they met the wrong MUTHU FUCKA
I agree 100% with mike elam 2011 im keely hathcock my grand father frank hathcock that was his sister louise i bed if she was here now that ball pin hammer would be upside all yall shittalkers head!!
@christiansmomma08 hey are u running a whore shop like your family did now.she did a crime and paid the price for it.are you a hoolgin like she was.are you in the mob now on the state line.if so your day will come to.you low life prick
@gwofl The question is not if Hathcock was a criminal. The question is was here death justified. She was shot twice in the back. What was Pusser's "real" justification for this? People who were at the scene said that before the shots were fired, Hathcock was heard begging for her life.
I agree 100% of what mike elam was saying my Louise hathcock was my grandpaws sister and i do not like how yall speak about her i tell you one thang if she was here that ball pin hammer she carried around would be upside yall heads
Why did you fail to address the fact that the General district Attorney failed to show the autopsy reort to the grand jury. Did you know that Howard carroll stated that he heard Hathcock begging for her life before shots were fired and that he heard Pusser's .41 magnum fire BEFORE he heard the report od Hathcock's .38? Why was he not asked to testify before the grand jury? Do you know how many people claim that Pusser was a corrupt sheriff? You need to do some research.
I would just like to know if Pusser killed his wife, then why did he shoot himself in the face? there are much easier ways he could have done it....it was 44 years ago..let it go.
@gtrjames1 Pauline may have shot him in the face. She was known to have carried a .25 revolver in her purse. I doubt that Buford shot himself in the face, but after looking at the evidence, I believe he murdered his wife...
Buford Pusser became sheriff because whenb he returned from Vietnam, he found that this little town had become corrupt, so he FOUGHT CORRUOTION, he unseated a corrupt sheriff, and it nearly klled him, and the woman he shot may haver been one of those countrified whores that ran a cathouse. SHERIFF JOE ARPIAO CAN'T TOUCH BUFORD.....YA HEARD???
I live in McNairy County, TN & on 7/10/2011 I spoke to a an elderly woman who knew Bufford Pusser and his wife for many years. She described Bufford as a very nice family man with a kind heart. Those on the right side of the law had nothing to fear from Bufford Pusser, of course the criminals hated him. Buford can no longer defend himself, but those who know the truth will continue to defend this good & decent man. Why anyone would attempt to destroy the character of a dead man is beyond me.
@SCLARK2112 It appears that you simply didn't talk to someone that really knew him. Buford, as sheriff, was a politician, and acted as such showing the public the side of him he wanted them to see. Accoerding to many, he was quite the opposite of what this woman described. Many say he abused, drugs, women, alcohol and the office he held. I just showed you an autopsy report that shows he shot a woman in the back not once but twice and you feel sorry for him? What kind of person are you?
@meddetect10 Did you know this woman? Yes she operated a place at the state line.., which was hyped to make Buford Pusser look like a hero. Did you know that she adopted and raised a child? Did you know that she put three kids through college? Did you know that she was credited with helping the less fortunate financially? While she may have had a checkered past there is obviously a lot you don't know about her.She may have been a criminal but did she deserve to be murdered by a sheriff ?
@mikeelam2010 Mike as a law officer you know a lot of criminals help the unfortunate corrupt politicians speak the loudest about this. Bad people do good things. But if this were a clean biz why would a sheriff have it in for an ordinary hotel operator? About her murder she should have cooperated with BP she may still be alive today doubt it but maybe. We know she fired a shot and there you have it she tried to get away by that time BP firing answer me back on this
It wouldn't surprise me if Pusser shot her while she was unarmed. He was probably looking to get rid of her and her boyfriend any way he could.
With the State Line Mob in your town, you'd better be thankfull if you have a Sheriff like Buford Pusser. He took a lot more than most policemen could ever put up with.
Me thinks we have a relative of the bad lady commenting here.....trying to sully the name of a real hero.........a man who stood up to a ruthless mafia long in control of that part of the country and hell bent on protecting it, no matter the cost or the lives lost! God Bless Buford Pusser's Memory!
@JimSpencer I see that you don't comprehend what the autopsy report says.., that Hathcock was shot twice in the back before she was shot in the head as she lay on the floor. What kind of hero does that? Buford wasn't protecting people from a ruthless "mafia" . According to many he was accepting payoffs and trying to take control of their illegal trade. Did you know that Pauline was about to leave him because of his corruption? Do a little research and learn the real story!
@mikeelam2010 If you fired a shot at me and missed, then tried to shoot again and the gun failed, THEN you turned to RUN, do you think I would not get MY three shots off at you?..Maybe, just MAYBE that is what happened... In all the adrenaline and confusion, after this scumbag prostitute tried to kill him, He Capped HER ass... Hooray for Pusser..
@cuthere4 Why don't you try disputing what I have shown rather than just giving us your bull & horns routine. Your comments are actually meaningless. Tell me where the autopsy report is wrong. Pusser claimedhis first two shoots were to hathcock's shoulder and torso, those were both back entry wounds. Why didn't "Walking Tall" tell us this?
@mmafighter51 No..., I am the one ROFLAO! You must be more brawn than brains. I guess you impress yourself when you look in the mirror, but you don't impress me at all..., AND I WOULD SAY THAT TO YOUR FACE JUST TO WATCH YOU PUCKER UP AND CRY. YOUr nothing but an over blown wimp! Now..., go tattle to mommy!
@mmafighter51 I have my facts straight. Have you considered the possibility that your grandfather didn't know Buford as well as he thought? Have you also considered that maybe he did know Buford and it is your grandfather who is then full of crap when he told you Buford was a great man?.
@SCLARK2112 Obviously, you know only of the Movie sheriff and not the real man. If he were in congress he would probably be in trouble for abusing his powers. Granted, the movie made Buford look like a hero..., the movie was FAR from telling the story accurately.
My neighbor is an older gentleman who hunted with Buford Pusser, was friends with Buford & knew the man for many years. Sorry, but your version of Buford Pusser doesn't match up with the good man my neighbor knew & still calls his friend. I doubt you ever even met Buford Pusser, but for some strange reason, you seem to be on a mission to defame his character. If I were you, I'd find something more productive to do with my time than trashing the character of a dead man. Lucky for you he's gone.
OK, if it was about money and power, what did Pusser have to gain by shooting Hathcock? Second, why did the couple, who allegedly were threatened by Hathcock call the sheriff in the first place. Was their testimony included in the Grand Jury investigation. Pusser was apparently called to the location. He was trying to shut the Shamrock down, not replace it with his own operation
To further clarify my comment below, If this whole thing was all for money and power, I don't see what Pussar got out of it. Pusser could not have anticipated by shooting it up with the State Line Mob, he would become famous. That doesn't wash.
@Kevilena According to Paul David English, Skeet Adkins, Betty Sparks, and others who lived the real story, Buford made a lot of money accepting payoffs from Club owners. moonshiners and bootleggers.. There was no "state line mob", unless you want to call Towhead with and Louise Hathcock a mob. They could have been more appropriately referred to as the "state line couple". W.R. Morris led us to believe there was a "mob" when there wasn't, as did Bing Crosby Prodctions with "Walking Tall".
@mikeelam2010 What about the couple that allegedly filed the complaint that brought Pusser to the Shamrock the day of the shooting? Was their testimony included in the Grand Jury investigation? Why did Pusser kill this women, if she was his meal ticket? If she owed him money, why not beat the hell out of her, arrest, and/or intimidate her? Killing her made sure no more payoffs were coming. Why didn't English, Adkins, or Sparks testify or complain about the payoffs if they knew.
@Kevilena Their testimony was not included. Most don't know that the Vogels lived near John Pusser, Buford's Brother in Illinois. Was there a connection? The Shamrock was owned by the Jack Hathcock estate. Louise only rented the Shamrock. The IRS was about to take it for back taxes ..Louise had large amounts of money hidden at the Shamrock and Buford allegedly wanted to find it before the IRS moved in. Sparks liked Buford as did Skeets wife. Like English, they had a business arrangement.
Louise Hathcock was finding her way back when she was killed. She had started attending church..., something most people are not aware of. Others who walked on the wrong side, have done the same. I recently visited with one of the owners of a well known state line club who have become regulars at church. They don't like to talk about the past as they are not proud of some of the things they did back then. Personally, I think their new life is commendable. JMO
If we don't learn from our mistakes in the past, we are doomed to repeat them. We believed in a movie that wasn't true and accepted Buford Pusser as a hero. He wasn't. So, who is to be our next hero..., Charlie Sheen?
Cash and Hope?? Some wanted hope and change..., well again we didn't do our homework and followed a guy with a resume that was paper thin. Now, we REALLY have no Cash and very little Hope. We had better start doing a better job of analyzing the facts. How about that H.D.?
@mikeelam2010 charlie sheen gets his girls from an s&m website that has videos of girls hung upside down whiped and forced to perform oral sex they whiped one girls ass with a metal rod until it looked like raw meat
Don't be sawyed as I once was by what you saw in "Walking Tall". I suggest that people take a step back, forget what they think they know and take an objective look that the hathcock shooting as well as the rest of the Pusser legend. When you do, you will find that it is mostly myth. Pusser appears to have been as much of a criminal as those he was alleged to have been fighting against. It was all about money and power..., who had it and who wanted it. Look at the fact..., not the legend.
Why was the Grand jury investigating Hathcock's death not made aware of the autopsy findings? Why did the D.A. substitute close up photos of the wounds for the autopsy report? The close up photos did not make it clear that Hathcock had been shot in the back. I interviewed on of the Grand jurors. He said they were never told that Pusser shot Hathcock from behind and that they may have found differently had the D.A. been more forthcoming woth information. Its about looking for the truth.
The "Walking Tall' version of the shooting overshadowed the real incident. People believe that what we saw in the movie was the way it happened..., it wasn't. If people would simply look for the facts, they are there. I would bet you didn't know the Vogels who claimed to have been robbed by Hathcock, lived near Buford's brother John in Illinois. Strange that they were visiting McNairy County in the dead of winter. Why didn't this ever come out in the grand jury hearing? Hmmm?
Sorry, I don't have a "hard-on" for Pusser. The "Walking Tall" version of the Hathcock shooting in bo way represented the truth. I am interested in what really happened. I find it strange that only two witnesses were called before the grand jury. Warren Jones and Chief Deputy Jim Moffett. I am distubed by the fact that Howard Carrill was not called as he claimed that before the fatal shots were fired he heard Hathcock begging for her life. Why was the autopsy report not shown to the G.J.?
In the below post, "shot", should have been "shoot".
The thing I have wondered for some time is why you have a hard-on for Pusser. Why the obsession with trying to smear the reputation of this dedicated lawman? Are descended from some of his State Line adversaries? I don't know your age, but perhaps a reincarnation of one of them?
Regarding the discrepancy in the entry and exit wounds vs Pusser's account of where his bullets hit, it may be that in the intensity of the moment, he was shooting at her front as she was turning to avoid what she knew was coming. His reflexes and view of things were seeing and reacting one way while her back was exposed by the time his hammer dropped. The shooting sounds justified. He was in imminent danger and did what was needed to ensure that she did not shot again!
@WarriorSpirit3a in the movie she was fireing a shotgun at him from the bar but you cant go by hollywood movies and made for TV movies [ like in the hillside stranglers made for tv movie there was one woman who ran away from them then went back to their shop and was fixated with them and also dated the detective in the case there was never anyone person who did all that it was a composite character]
The ones at 2:41 appear to be the 210 grain JSP's. I know there is very little difference in the appearance of a .41 magnum and a .44 magnum. They both will normally make a .38 spl look like a .22 in comparison.
@WarriorSpirit3a Actually a .41 Magnum makes a .38 Special look like a .38 Special when the two are compared. A .44 Magnum makes a .38 Special looks like a .38 Special when compared to a .44 Magnum. It's only when you compare a .22 to a .41 Magnum that the smaller .22 slug looks like a .22....
Funny, the .41 magnum bullets do not dwarf the .38's in that photo as I would expect them to. Back then, I believe there were only two commercially available .41 Magnum loadings. One was a 210 grain solid lead, "Police Load", which was loaded to around 900 or so fps. The other was a 210 grain Jacketed Soft Point (JSP) loaded to 1150 or so fps. It was generally used for hunting more than defense due to the heavier recoil.
It is strange how people want to believe the "Hero" story of Buford Pusser. You throw a little reality at them, like Hathcock's autopsy report and they don't know what to think. When you research the story closely enough you see that Pusser was much like those he claimed to be fighting against. They were criminals...they were making big money..., and Pusser wanted it. It wasn't about "cleaning up the state line". It was all about power and money.., who had it and who wanted it more.
Maybe you need to lookat the autposy report again. Hathcock was shot twice from behind before she was shot in the head as she lay on the floor. That is evidence. Perhaps you should also examine Buford's own statements more closely, where he says the shoulder and torso shots were the firts two shots he fired...Hmmm? that is evidence as well. Dwana and I have never discussed this so I would suggest that you "reliable sorce" gave you some very incorrect information. Try working with facts.
hey mike what is your problem you have no shred of evidence about what your saying i was told by reliable source that buford pussers daughter dawana has asked you to prove your claims and you cant prove a damn thing so shut up
No one has attempted to deny you the right to believe what you wish. I posted this video because based on available evidence, there are questions that were not answered regarding the death of Louise Hathcock. Granted, she was a person of criminal behavior. The question is, was Buford Pusser any different? Many, including his friends and certain members of his family suggested he accepted payoffs. The autopsy report on Hathcock suggests possibly worse. Why deny what the evidence shows?
I should proubably stay out of this but i wanted to say a few things. 1st off i hate that people want to say things and point fingers like they always want to do. I never have been that way because i've got enough minding my own buisness going on to mind anybody else's. In Bufford's case it was he, the good lord and this lady in the room so if you wheren't there in the room you have no buisness saying what happned. You never know what it's like about any matter until you've been there. Next^
2nd i've been the one who has had to be the one pulling the trigger because i was faceing the wrong end of someone else's who i know was a fraction of a 2nd from using it on me. That is a horable thing to ever have to do and to live with the rest of a body's life! In my case i had a wittness and things did match up. Point being tho i wasn't there with Bufford and neither was anyone else. I do guarantee the good lord was there un seen as he was with me when my tragedy happned.
3rd. I do believe we all have a day coming that we will answer for our wrong doings in life. Wether you believe that or not like i do it still was a long time ago and i believe it better to let sleeping dogs lie and for the dead to be left to rest in peace. Also i'd like to add that yes i have always looked up to sheriff Pusser because i feel if we had more people who didn't make exceptions and up held law and order treating everybody equal we'd all be living in a better world. I never met 3^
Any of the pusser family but i'd like to think Bufford was the person i've always thought he was ands that i looked up to. Thanks to readers and by all means we do have a right to our opinion and i just stated mine in four parts but the point got across finally i believe. God bless all that do good right and may heaven help those who dont! Thanks! Shane Crossville TN
The movie is a highly fictionalized version of the career of Sheriff Pusser. Most of the events regarding everything from the attack on him at the "Lucky Spot" to his death in a car crash were embellished. In the movie we saw how Pusser shot Cali Hacker in a crowed bar. In real life it happened in her personal living quarters at the Shamrock Motel.,,,there were no eyewitnesses. One person reported hearing Hathcock begging for her life. Visit crimemyths at yahoo groups for more info.
the poster of this video really needs a new hobby.
Buford Pusser was a hero , wtping out corruption before he was killed.
are you trying to promote your book , or what is your motivation? failed detective? Why don't you spend time trying to prove that O.J. killed those 2 people. OJ is still alive , Pusser has been dead 25 years.
Run from the facts 02 mustangboy! You don't answer with anything except for your attempt to censor the messenger. What are you afraid of ?...the truth! The autopsy report is an official state document.. Should everyone ignore it or question why it was never shown to the grand jury? Maybe everyone should consider blocking you.
Says who? With all things considered, was Pusser any better than Hathcock? Club owners, bootlegger and moonshiners alike allege that he accepted pay offs. He was part of the problem at the state line, not part of the solution. Because he pinned on a badge should he be allowed to say who lives or dies? After he killed Hathcock here autopsy report was not shown to the grand jury, Why? Louise was no doubt a criminal, but what was Pusser if he accepted payoffs as so many have alleged?
@mikeelam2010 You just can't stop stirring up the ole crap pot can you? Your profile says you're an ex-Barney Fife that likes "researching" cold cases, why don't you do something more useful like proving that it was Jon Bonnet Ramseys crazy momma that killed her instead of running Buford Pussers good name thru the mud.He was a fellow lawman, he did more for law enforcement than you ever will !! You Fail at smearing his good name & it pisses you off that no-ones listening! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????
@mikeelam2010 ONCE AGAIN I HAVE TO REMIND YOU THAT YOU ARE A FAILED BARNEY FIFE , WHAT ARE YOUR LAW ENFORCEMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ? BUFORD PUSSER DID MORE TO BOOST LAW ENFORCEMENT IN 1 WEEK THAN YOU DID YOUR WHOLE WORTHLESS CAREER. WHAT'S THE MATTER, COULD MAKE DETECTIVE ?? YOU FAILED TO CHANGE ANYONES MIND, GIVE UP ON THIS AND STOP SMEARING THE NAME OF A GOOD MAN !!
Read the FBI reports. There was no real gambling or prostitution going on in McNairy County when Buford took office. The shamrock had the "razzle game" that was played at the cash register. The FBI documents state that what little prositution there was came out of the Nitefall and ELRAY motels in Corinth. Hathcock..., two shots in the back and then a third to the head as she lay on the floor. Check the autopsy report and photos of the room. You don't seem to know much for a close follower.
He did not murder Louise. A hole for prostitutes, gamblers, thugs, and the little dixie mafia that hid out in that Shamrock sewer on the state line. There will always be critics and nay sayers. TRUTH IS: McNairy Co. NEEDED Buford Pusser and his kind of justice at that time in history. And occasionally even today we could use a little Buford. Except now days, it's Meth Labs, and Cocaine, and don't think they would not try to kill anybody who tried to stop that little market.
who posted this video?? are you in my family?? everyone that was involved in this is either too old and sick to do anything or DEAD. i dont know why people have to keep things going years after the fact. and as far as the death of Pusser wife that was his own fault she wasnt supposed to be in the car. he knew what was gonna happen.
@trsweety61 Are you sure your a Hathcock? I'm not sure I know of you and I have interviewed people from both sides of this story. I would think that a relative would be glad to see that some one is releasing information about how the shooting really happened, even suggesting , with the use of forensic evidence, that Louise may have been murdered. Why don't you email me some contact information. There is more that you may want to know.
@mikeelam2010 I am not a Hathcock. The guy she was in love with was (towhead) which was very close with my family her and him both and yes the story I hear about her was cold blooded behind the back this is what cowards do. and no thanks i dont need to know more. i know enough been around it my whole life guns and violence and everything else that goes along with it is like second nature to me. (state line mob) need i say more. sorry I bothered you. and thats all i have to say.
@LOVEDAYJR1 At least I used the official autopsy report as prepared by the Tennessee State Medical Examiner Dr Jerry Francisco in reaching my opinions. The prosecutor didn.t even submit the same report to the grand jury investigating her death...why? Was he protecting Buford? Why didn't W.R. Morris tell us that Hathcock was shot in the back? Why didn't "WALKING TALL" show us how the real shooting happened or mention the results of the autopsy? There is nothing bogus here except you.
Geraldo, just what do you expect to accomplish by investigating Buford Pusser, with your tinted witnesses and speculation. Maybe one day you will have your 15 minutes of fame. Who cares? I don't. Maybe you have something more personal associated with this case. You may also have a bone with Dwana. I do not know. Maybe you do not have a family to spend your time with. Whatever the case you are just weeping in the wind. Maybe you can get your old job back hanging parking tickets on cars.
@cowboy7700 Apparently you have learned that you know nothing about the real story so you have reduced yourself to making personal attacks and insults. How sad it must be to be you. This is what typically happens when someone doesn't know enough about the subject to debate it with information of merit. I have seen your kind many times before...,a hero worshipper who needs their hero at any cost including the cost of their own self respect and dignity. You are a truely a sad individual.
Mike, you do not know your ass, from hole in the ground. If you investigated this topic so thoroughly, you would have responded back to me before the 2 to 3 weeks that it has been, if not longer. You had to go find the sort of weapon Buford was shot with. I knew it was an M-1, you just walked into my trap. You have came up a bogus investigation that would try persuade folks that you have completed a through investigation. Shame on you, What sort of cop were you, a meter maid? Nice try, pal!
@cowboy7700 LOL you are total BS aren't you. You want want proof that I knew it was an M1? Go look at the other video that has been up on youtube since May. Or better yet, why don't you check out crimemyths on yahoo groups..., it was started in 2004 The shame is on you that you don't know what you are talking about. You want to attack me rather than operate with an open mind. You need to start from scratch and take a good long look at your hero. The truth shall set you free.
would you shoot yourself or have someone shoot you with and M-1 in the jaw to cover up a crime? How about a .22? I doubt it!! Look, I am not saying that Buford was perfect, Lord knows I am not!!!! Cops on the other hand, have the feeling that they are perfect because of the bullshit that we are spoon fed by the media. Cops are human, they make mistakes, just like all the rest of us. I think out of the box of "P.C." I make up my own mind about different matters, regardless of what others think!!!
@cowboy7700 Your posts suggest that you think "inside" the box and believe what you are told to believe by the movies. You have made up your mind using incorrect information such as that Buford was shot with a shotgun. That makes me wonder just what other incorrect information you have utilized as well. I would suggest that you take a step back, forget everything you think you know about this story and start all over using a few FACTS before you try to decide what actually happened...I did.
Regardless of interviews, reenacting the ambush and such, nobody can dispute the FACT that Buford was shot in the fact with a shot gun! How many people a survive shotgun blast to the face? Google it. The survival rate is pretty low. The facts of the case cannot be ignored. Speculation and circumstantial evidence are used by some to destroy a man's character. Let Buford rest in peace and let his family live in peace, without tarnishing their name.
@cowboy7700 Shotgun??? get your facts straight. Even Buford claimed it was an M1 carbine, not a shotgun. Google it. Yes , it can be ignored because no shotgun was used. 14 shots were fired at the Pusser vehicle according to the TBI. The shell casings from an M1 were found at both alleged ambush sites. Had the ambush occued as Buford described the shee casings would have been found in the middle of the road and inside the Cadillac. Buford tarnished his own name. Do a little research.
How do you know that Paul Davis English, Paul Moore and the others were not part of the state line mob? Did they tell you they weren't? You say you were a cop. When does a cop believe anything somebody says? Only when it is to their benefit, that's when. I've been lied to so much recently by cops while dealing with a traffic ticket, I now see how hypocritical and dishonest they really are. They were people who spoke highly of Buford in the 60's and 70's. He is still a legend regardless..........
@cowboy7700 Paul Moore was a friend of Buford's. Paul David English escaped fro the McNairy County jail yet was someone that Buford allowed to make moonshine. I have interviewed these people and many others from both sides of the story. The movie had little to do with the truth. Visit crimemyths and view some of the evidence for yourself.
@cowboy7700 I agree with you nobodys perfect Buford Pusser stood up for every law biding citizen in that county and ppl doing soo called research have to understand that all the records before the 90's cannot be used or considered as evidence because alot of ppl on the take were in fact making false reports about Buford they wanted Buford out after all didnt the state line boys start with Buford first? they cut that man up so bad and they marked him for death soo no matter what he is a hero!!!
@jacksblack1 Have you looked into the REAL story? He is a national hero only because a ficticous movie was made about him. Take a look at the real evidence..., not the movies. Hathcock was shot in the back twice before being shot in the head. The autopsy report was NEVER shown to the grand jury...why? One two witnesses gave testimony to the grand jury, a TBI Investigator and Buford's Chief Deputy. Had others been allowed to testify thier testimony would have been different.
@mikeelam2010 Many locals, state liners and law enforcement people alike, say that Buford was on the take, something not shown in the movies. Buford lived beyond his means as a sheriff. Buford is also alleged to have "manufactured" information about being shot and stabbed . Never any witnesses, the wounds, with the exception of the ambush, were non serious, most to the left side of his body and he often required little if any medical care.
@OrrBobby4 I am afraid you are misinformed. FBI reports show no indication that she was involved in the sale of drugs. The prostitution that occured at the Shamrock generally involved girls from the Nite Fall or ElRay Motels in Corinth. Louise was involved in selling bootleg whiskey as well as the operation of the "razzle game". Something else you may not be aware of is that she found god during the last year of her life. Its interesting..., what you don't know about Louise.
@lionpunk1WWE Yes she was. On that we agree. The point is that all evidence seems to indicate that Louise Hathcock's death was totally unlike what we were told. The autopsy report says she was shot twice in the back and once in the head. The head shot appears to have been the last shot as she lay on the floor. I'm not trying to justify Hathcock's criminal activities .., I'm just suggesting that a very good arguement can be made that she was murdered..., not shot in self defense.
you are wrong Bufords reposrt says after the first shot it spun her around then he fired again that does match the autopsy report. Is it not true that you are Louise Hathcocks nephew? And when you report on people says Buford took bribes and covered for And Louise was it not members of the state line mob that said this, also people that were customers of these places? You have a ax to grind I see this and lets keep it real!
@evilresident20 What report says the first shot spun her around? More myth. That is a movie stunt.
I am not relatied to the Hathcocks. That is another myth. You misunderstand exactly what the state line mob was. Paul Davis English, Paul Moore, Skeet Adkins and Betty Sparks were not part of the state line yet all agree that Buford took payoffs.
I have no ax to grind as I have no relation in the area. I'm just a former cop who has researched the real story. You should too.
She was a scumbag along with all the other no-goods down at the shamrock---so what if he did get the drop on her first--she wasn't up to any good and the bullets show she fired one and snapped on another trying to kill Buford---so he got her first---big deal! she needed getting rid of
@micmoable You obviously believe that everything you saw in the movie was true. Tell me, was the actual autopsy report shown in the movies? NO! I'm not saying that Louise was innocent of crimes...I'm saying that Buford was her equal and her accomplice. He took payoffs from her. Louise would most certainly try to separate someone from their money and Pusser did the same by demanding payoffs. When Louise refused to pay more she was killed. Do some research and get your facts straight.
@mikeelam2010 I can't disagree totally with you --but like you said I was going on what I read in the two books I read and the movie----do I think some facts get smoothed over to make folks like buford look more heoic--OF COURSE. I am not knowledgeable of the case or story other than the movie and THE TWELTH OF AUGUST and THE STATE LINE MOB the two books about the story of Buford ad his fight with them. I'm not disagreeing with you--I'm just saying the media mae him look like a hero vs thugs
@micmoable Buford was as tough as the movies made him out to be according to people I have interviewed. The things many people believe ends there. You can visit crimemyths and hear interviews of some of the people who lived the real story. just type crimemyths in you internet search box. Look in the file section under audio files. Lots of photos, interviews, documents, reports etc . Feel free to ask questions on the forum.
@theGDbatman8686 Buford had been collecting pay offs from Louise ($1000.00 to $1500.00 a month) Louise and Jack were divorced and she had rented the Shamrock from Jack. When Louise killed Jack, he owed taxes to the IRS and they were about to sieze the property. Buford knew his payday was just about over as the IRS would shut down the Shamrock.
Louise however kept a large amount of cash on the premises. Buford allegedly killed her so he could search for that before the IRS acted.
Mike, you mentioned that grand jurist James Opal Gray said that the state did not provide a copy of the autopsy report. I don't know how the grand jury operates in Tennessee, but in Ohio, the grand jury is very informal and jurists can ask any questions of the witnesses. Did Mr. Gray or any other jurist ever ask to see the report? If so, what were they told?
@50dcoop Gray indicated that they never knew an autopsy had been performed. He seemed surprised when I told him about it. He said that the grand jury was shown photos of the wounds. This really didn't mean much to any of the jurists as they had no idea what a wound should look like (my opinion). The point is that the report would have clearly shown back entry wounds. I have no idea how a grand jury in TN works. Ironically, a farmer at the time, Gray later became sheriff of McNairy County.
@kx5e It is interesting to note that other places near the state line remained open as did many other places in McNairy County that violated the law. It has been said that there were more clubs and joints remaining open when Pusser left office than when he took office. Many locals have made allegations that Pusser accepted payoffs and maintained close relationships with some club operators. There appears to be a lot of history here that you are not aware of.
@mikeelam2010 You missed it. The point is not how many were in business when Buford left office but who wasn't. The dangerous criminal element that operated at the state line was gone. I don't believe that Buford really cared that much about all the laws that were being broken around McNairy Co. He cared about how dangerous it was to participate especially at the state line. That bunch would kill you and it didn't take much of an excuse. Allegations are not proof that you want all to believe.
@kx5e LOL..., She made a lot of noise and W.R. Morris built her a big reputation, but how many people can you name that Louise Hathcock actually killed? I'll make it even easier for you. Show me a couple of missing persons reports of people that were last seen at the Shamrock. Can't do that? Give me something with substance...ANYTHING! I have researche this story a great deal and other than her ex husband I don't know of anyone that she killed... and Towhead White may have killed Jack!
@mikeelam2010 I didn't acuse Louise Hathcock of killing anyone. Don't care whether she did or didn't. I said the area was a dangerous place to frequent to and go and get your thrills in that day and time. No one has ever disputed that.
@kx5e But was it really as dangerous as W.R. Morris and Buford Pusser made it out to be? Morris wanted to make Pusser an legend and Pusser was willing to let him. They needed a place and people to make that happened, so they picked the state line because it had a reputation. Now consider that Buford never even proved that he was attacked there, cut up and left for dead. We even offered a $500.00 reward for information to prove he was. No one came forward with anything. What does that say?
@mikeelam2010 Its sad that people will buy into this as being a true story without every checking it out and verifying the events etc. There are people who actually believe that Buford took on ten state liners with nothing but a stick just like the movie showed. In reality it was Buford and two of his friends who took on the owner of the Plantation Club when he was alone in the club. WOW how screwed up is the Pusser legend anyway? Visit crimemyths for the real story.
@mikeelam2010 Maybe Buford hired Kirksey McCord Nix, Jr. to help him stage the ambush on New Hope Rd. Nix checked into the Shamrock Motel the day before the shooting. And if the Stateline crowd had connections to Nix, they deserved their bad reputation whether you want to dismiss it or not. $500.00? That might get you a good hamburger and you want crime info?
@kx5e You must be reading crimemyths as that has been suggested and is a real possibility. Sone believe that Nix helped Buford staged the ambush. No one is trying to say the state liners didn't serve a bad reputation, I'm just trying to put it in perspective. Pusser was a large part of the problem and was a participant as well. Do you really think he deserves to be labeled a "Hero"? $500.00 for somebody to come farward and not even a peep.
@kx5e The entire story of the state line and Buford Pusser has been built partly on the illusion that Louise Hathcock was a cold blooded woman. Tell us what you REALLY know about this woman as opposed to what you have heard. At least when I suggest that Pusser was a bad cop I try to back it up with something...like an autopsy report! W#hat have you got to add to the story other than stories that have been told and retold by people who don't matter?
The conspiracy theories are intriguing however lost in all the hoopla trying to be created here is the fact that from 1964 thru 1970 the probable largest criminal element between New Orleans and Chicago, the State Line Mob was essentially put out of business as promised by this man. These distractions have very little merit. At the same time it is a shame people had to die to clean it out. An element of the same group stayed in business in Biloxi until the 90s. Buford was needed there as well.
@kx5e Buford Pusser didn't put the state line out of business. The IRS was about to take the Shamrock because of the back taxes owed by the Jack Hathcock estate. Louise didn't own the Shamrock, she only rented it. Jack and Louise had been divorced for almost seven years. Towhead White went to prison over the three state moonshine operation, he was arrested in Tishomingo county. Pusser had nothing to do with his arrest. Events and time, not Pusser closed down the state line.
@mikeelam2010 Maybe the IRS got involved because business had gotten bad between 64 and 67? Wonder why? What Events and at what time did the state line close down? As I said, the same bunch operated in Biloxi until the early 90's when events(the Sherry murders) and time(casinos moving in) took them down. You make compelling points. It is just strange that no one with any credibility and in position of authority ever did so. That point alone makes your motives seem less than honorable.
@kx5e No, the IRS got involved because Jack hathcock died and taxes were not paid...its as simple as that. The state line closing down had so very little to do with Pusser...thats all " movie " misinformation. Do you suggest that I should keep quiet because no one else has come forward? Are you suggesting that I have no credibility? What have you done to establish that?
my mayor is one of the original mob guys that the sheriff buford pusser ran out of town. lol. he doesnt let the cops pull ppl over and our city has gotten really big in the last 20 years thanks to him and there is no corruption, even though he is a crook. we have low taxes and all the small businesses have gotten big and the economy is great here.

your kin to that POS woman...you should be mad that she killed your other relative Jack Hathcock
davidtrucking 4 weeks ago
It's kind of a fitting death for a woman who aided, abetted and committed murders herself when you think about it.She and Douglas "Towhead" White set up Jack Hathcock to be murdered and the evidence falsified to make it look like a justified killing. While it's true that Sheriff Pusser stepped outside the law more than once I really don't believe that he shot Louise Hathcock without justifiable cause.
Fennec2828 1 month ago
And if Hathcock had survived we would be debating it...just as we are anyway. Anyone can attempt to justify their actions just as Pusser attempted to. That doesn't make him right just because Hathcock was not there to give her side of the story. I think the official autopsy report says volumns for her.
mikeelam2010 1 month ago
If Pusser said it was justified, it was. We weren't there so we cant rightfully debate it.

@spQQks "The truth has no agenda". The autopsy report does not lie. Hathcock was shot twice in the back. According to Pusser, those were his first two shots.
mikeelam2010 1 month ago
@mikeelam2010 So, Buford Pusser took a person off the board who was running prostitutes. What a service to all the rest of us. How would you feel if your daughter was being run as a prostitute by this woman? Different, one would hope.
Guess I have an agenda now, still going to keep looking though, my addiction is to information, and that is still pretty much free.
What I see so far is Buford Pusser should have taken way more scum off the boards.
You play, you pay.

Everyone, the good, bad ans well intentioned.
spQQks 1 month ago
@spQQks Tell us what you think you know about "the state line mob" and then I'll give you the facts. Who were they? What all were they really into? Tell us about the crimes they committed. The real story is more amazing than the one W.R. Morris told or what was suggested in the movie "WALKING TALL".
mikeelam2010 1 month ago
@mikeelam2010 From what I've been able to find in the week I've been researching this, the State Line Mob were into selling women for sex, gambling and possibly illegal liquor/drug activities. Probably killing folks who didn't pay up or play the game their way. Buford Pusser was no angel. He cracked heads to get the job done. I don't believe he killed Pauline or shot himself in his own face. That is not the personality of a wife killer.

m2sarim 2 months ago
Elam you've been perpetuating this theory forever. I've never seen any publicized official documentation which says there is a corresponding bullet hole in the floor beneath Hathcock's head while she lay on the floor. Doesn't W.R. Morris book, say the first shot hit her in the jaw? If true, muzzle energy and cadaveric spasm could've caused her to turn around causing Pusser's subsequent shots, to wound her in the back. Doesn't that sound plausible to you?
MrWscotts 3 months ago
@MrWscotts I go by what Buford himself claimed..., that his first shot was to her shoulder and the second was to her torso. Both shots entered her back. Keep in mind that the autposy report didn't surface for almost forty years so people, absent this information, drew their conclusions of the shooting with incomplete and inaccurate information. Look at the report. The first shot was to her left shoulder, she should have spun to the right, yet the second shot was even more to her left.
mikeelam2010 1 month ago
@mikeelam2010 isn't it true that you are related to the whore Louise Hathcock? And if so how can you stand up for her knowing she killed her husband?

Its justifiable homicide she was criminal she was being investigated and about to be caught. She was trying to kill BP and screwed up he ended up getting the drop on her and maybe there was enough time beg for her life in just a few words then it was too late BP was blasting bullets. Adrenaline and the impatience added up to a dead body UP IN HERE. She pulled a gun and fired as we know the 38 in the post gun jammed by then PB did what he was trained to do. He hated her from way back

I bet Loise head looked like a ripe mellon. Why would Louise fire a shot in the first place Only the criminals make a great deal of these claims. @gwofl The question is not if Hathcock was a criminal. The question is was here death justified. She was shot twice in the back. What was Pusser's "real" justification for this? People who were at the scene said that before the shots were fired, Hathcock was heard begging for her life.

SCLARK2112 7 months ago 10
@SCLARK2112 It appears that you simply didn't talk to someone that really knew him. Buford, as sheriff, was a politician, and acted as such showing the public the side of him he wanted them to see. Accoerding to many, he was quite the opposite of what this woman described. Many say he abused, drugs, women, alcohol and the office he held. I just showed you an autopsy report that shows he shot a woman in the back not once but twice and you feel sorry for him? What kind of person are you?

We know she fired a shot and there you have it she tried to get away by that time BP firing answer me back on this

Kevilena 10 months ago
To further clarify my comment below, If this whole thing was all for money and power, I don't see what Pussar got out of it. Pusser could not have anticipated by shooting it up with the State Line Mob, he would become famous. That doesn't wash.
Kevilena 10 months ago
@Kevilena According to Paul David English, Skeet Adkins, Betty Sparks, and others who lived the real story, Buford made a lot of money accepting payoffs from Club owners. moonshiners and bootleggers.. There was no "state line mob", unless you want to call Towhead with and Louise Hathcock a mob. They could have been more appropriately referred to as the "state line couple". W.R. Morris led us to believe there was a "mob" when there wasn't, as did Bing Crosby Prodctions with "Walking Tall".
mikeelam2010 10 months ago
@mikeelam2010 What about the couple that allegedly filed the complaint that brought Pusser to the Shamrock the day of the shooting? Was their testimony included in the Grand Jury investigation? Why did Pusser kill this women, if she was his meal ticket? If she owed him money, why not beat the hell out of her, arrest, and/or intimidate her? Killing her made sure no more payoffs were coming. Why didn't English, Adkins, or Sparks testify or complain about the payoffs if they knew.
Kevilena 10 months ago 3

JMO

Cash and Hope?? Some wanted hope and change..., well again we didn't do our homework and followed a guy with a resume that was paper thin. Now, we REALLY have no Cash and very little Hope. We had better start doing a better job of analyzing the facts. How about that H.D.?

Don't be sawyed as I once was by what you saw in "Walking Tall". I suggest that people take a step back, forget what they think they know and take an objective look that the hathcock shooting as well as the rest of the Pusser legend. When you do, you will find that it is mostly myth. Pusser appears to have been as much of a criminal as those he was alleged to have been fighting against. It was all about money and power..., who had it and who wanted it. Look at the fact..., not the legend.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
Why was the Grand jury investigating Hathcock's death not made aware of the autopsy findings? Why did the D.A. substitute close up photos of the wounds for the autopsy report? The close up photos did not make it clear that Hathcock had been shot in the back. I interviewed on of the Grand jurors. He said they were never told that Pusser shot Hathcock from behind and that they may have found differently had the D.A. been more forthcoming woth information. Its about looking for the truth.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
The "Walking Tall' version of the shooting overshadowed the real incident. People believe that what we saw in the movie was the way it happened..., it wasn't. If people would simply look for the facts, they are there. I would bet you didn't know the Vogels who claimed to have been robbed by Hathcock, lived near Buford's brother John in Illinois. Strange that they were visiting McNairy County in the dead of winter. Why didn't this ever come out in the grand jury hearing? Hmmm?
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
Sorry, I don't have a "hard-on" for Pusser. The "Walking Tall" version of the Hathcock shooting in bo way represented the truth. I am interested in what really happened. I find it strange that only two witnesses were called before the grand jury. Warren Jones and Chief Deputy Jim Moffett. I am distubed by the fact that Howard Carrill was not called as he claimed that before the fatal shots were fired he heard Hathcock begging for her life. Why was the autopsy report not shown to the G.J.?
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
In the below post, "shot", should have been "shoot".
The thing I have wondered for some time is why you have a hard-on for Pusser. Why the obsession with trying to smear the reputation of this dedicated lawman? Are descended from some of his State Line adversaries? I don't know your age, but perhaps a reincarnation of one of them?
WarriorSpirit3a 1 year ago
Regarding the discrepancy in the entry and exit wounds vs Pusser's account of where his bullets hit, it may be that in the intensity of the moment, he was shooting at her front as she was turning to avoid what she knew was coming. His reflexes and view of things were seeing and reacting one way while her back was exposed by the time his hammer dropped. The shooting sounds justified. He was in imminent danger and did what was needed to ensure that she did not shot again!
WarriorSpirit3a 1 year ago
@WarriorSpirit3a in the movie she was fireing a shotgun at him from the bar but you cant go by hollywood movies and made for TV movies [ like in the hillside stranglers made for tv movie there was one woman who ran away from them then went back to their shop and was fixated with them and also dated the detective in the case there was never anyone person who did all that it was a composite character]

The ones at 2:41 appear to be the 210 grain JSP's. I know there is very little difference in the appearance of a .41 magnum and a .44 magnum. They both will normally make a .38 spl look like a .22 in comparison.
WarriorSpirit3a 1 year ago
@WarriorSpirit3a Actually a .41 Magnum makes a .38 Special look like a .38 Special when the two are compared. A .44 Magnum makes a .38 Special looks like a .38 Special when compared to a .44 Magnum. It's only when you compare a .22 to a .41 Magnum that the smaller .22 slug looks like a .22....
dorodog 5 months ago
At 2:41, "... actual bullets from that shooting."
WarriorSpirit3a 1 year ago
At 2:17, the tray with bullets from Hathcock's gun on the left (appear to be .38 spl) and Pusser's gun on the right.
The case behind the case which is in the foreground does NOT look like a .41 magnum. What is it and why is it there?

Try working with facts.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
hey mike what is your problem you have no shred of evidence about what your saying i was told by reliable source that buford pussers daughter dawana has asked you to prove your claims and you cant prove a damn thing so shut up
darilc1966 1 year ago

My Dad told me the story about Buford then I saw his movie. The credits @ the end do say that the movie is false. Is it?

You obviously need to spend some time doing some research. There were more clubs and joints open when Pusser left office than when he took office.
Perhaps you have some proof that I am wrong. Why don't you share it. BTW.., Pusser was killed 35 years ago..., not 25. Again, do some research.

Read the FBI reports. There was no real gambling or prostitution going on in McNairy County when Buford took office. The shamrock had the "razzle game" that was played at the cash register. The FBI documents state that what little prositution there was came out of the Nitefall and ELRAY motels in Corinth. Hathcock..., two shots in the back and then a third to the head as she lay on the floor. Check the autopsy report and photos of the room. You don't seem to know much for a close follower.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
He did not murder Louise. A hole for prostitutes, gamblers, thugs, and the little dixie mafia that hid out in that Shamrock sewer on the state line. There will always be critics and nay sayers. TRUTH IS: McNairy Co. NEEDED Buford Pusser and his kind of justice at that time in history. And occasionally even today we could use a little Buford. Except now days, it's Meth Labs, and Cocaine, and don't think they would not try to kill anybody who tried to stop that little market.

There is nothing bogus here except you.

would you shoot yourself or have someone shoot you with and M-1 in the jaw to cover up a crime? How about a .22? I doubt it!! Look, I am not saying that Buford was perfect, Lord knows I am not!!!! Cops on the other hand, have the feeling that they are perfect because of the bullshit that we are spoon fed by the media. Cops are human, they make mistakes, just like all the rest of us. cowboy7700 1 year ago
@cowboy7700 Your posts suggest that you think "inside" the box and believe what you are told to believe by the movies. I would suggest that you take a step back, forget everything you think you know about this story and start all over using a few FACTS before you try to decide what actually happened...I did.

cowboy7700 1 year ago
Regardless of interviews, reenacting the ambush and such, nobody can dispute the FACT that Buford was shot in the fact with a shot gun! How many people a survive shotgun blast to the face? Google it. The survival rate is pretty low. The facts of the case cannot be ignored. Speculation and circumstantial evidence are used by some to destroy a man's character. Let Buford rest in peace and let his family live in peace, without tarnishing their name.
cowboy7700 1 year ago

He is still a legend regardless..........
cowboy7700 1 year ago
@cowboy7700 Paul Moore was a friend of Buford's. Paul David English escaped fro the McNairy County jail yet was someone that Buford allowed to make moonshine. I have interviewed these people and many others from both sides of the story. The movie had little to do with the truth. Visit crimemyths and view some of the evidence for yourself.

@cowboy7700 I agree with you nobodys perfect Buford Pusser stood up for every law biding citizen in that county and ppl doing soo called research have to understand that all the records before the 90's cannot be used or considered as evidence because alot of ppl on the take were in fact making false reports about Buford they wanted Buford out after all didnt the state line boys start with Buford first? they cut that man up so bad and they marked him for death soo no matter what he is a hero!!!
lionpunk1WWE 1 year ago
If the guy was no good he would not be a national hero and movies and a tv series would not have be made about him. He died a hero.
jacksblack1 1 year ago
@jacksblack1 Have you looked into the REAL story? He is a national hero only because a ficticous movie was made about him. Take a look at the real evidence..., not the movies. Hathcock was shot in the back twice before being shot in the head. The autopsy report was NEVER shown to the grand jury...why? One two witnesses gave testimony to the grand jury, a TBI Investigator and Buford's Chief Deputy. Had others been allowed to testify thier testimony would have been different.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
@mikeelam2010 Many locals, state liners and law enforcement people alike, say that Buford was on the take, something not shown in the movies. Buford lived beyond his means as a sheriff. Buford is also alleged to have "manufactured" information about being shot and stabbed . Never any witnesses, the wounds, with the exception of the ambush, were non serious, most to the left side of his body and he often required little if any medical care.
Examine the real story, not the movies.

I'm not trying to justify Hathcock's criminal activities .., I'm just suggesting that a very good arguement can be made that she was murdered..., not shot in self defense.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
you are wrong Bufords reposrt says after the first shot it spun her around then he fired again that does match the autopsy report. Is it not true that you are Louise Hathcocks nephew? You have a ax to grind I see this and lets keep it real!
evilresident20 1 year ago
@evilresident20 What report says the first shot spun her around? More myth. That is a movie stunt.
I am not relatied to the Hathcocks. That is another myth. You misunderstand exactly what the state line mob was. Paul Davis English, Paul Moore, Skeet Adkins and Betty Sparks were not part of the state line yet all agree that Buford took payoffs.

Do some research and get your facts straight.

theGDbatman8686 1 year ago

50dcoop 1 year ago

There appears to be a lot of history here that you are not aware of.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
@mikeelam2010 You missed it. The point is not how many were in business when Buford left office but who wasn't. The dangerous criminal element that operated at the state line was gone. I don't believe that Buford really cared that much about all the laws that were being broken around McNairy Co. He cared about how dangerous it was to participate especially at the state line. That bunch would kill you and it didn't take much of an excuse. Allegations are not proof that you want all to believe.
kx5e 1 year ago
@kx5e LOL..., She made a lot of noise and W.R. Morris built her a big reputation, but how many people can you name that Louise Hathcock actually killed? I'll make it even easier for you. Show me a couple of missing persons reports of people that were last seen at the Shamrock. Can't do that? Give me something with substance...ANYTHING! I have researche this story a great deal and other than her ex husband I don't know of anyone that she killed... and Towhead White may have killed Jack!
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
@mikeelam2010 I didn't acuse Louise Hathcock of killing anyone. Don't care whether she did or didn't. I said the area was a dangerous place to frequent to and go and get your thrills in that day and time. No one has ever disputed that.
kx5e 1 year ago
@kx5e But was it really as dangerous as W.R. Morris and Buford Pusser made it out to be? Morris wanted to make Pusser an legend and Pusser was willing to let him. They needed a place and people to make that happened, so they picked the state line because it had a reputation. Now consider that Buford never even proved that he was attacked there, cut up and left for dead. We even offered a $500.00 reward for information to prove he was. No one came forward with anything. What does that say?
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
@mikeelam2010 Its sad that people will buy into this as being a true story without every checking it out and verifying the events etc. There are people who actually believe that Buford took on ten state liners with nothing but a stick just like the movie showed. In reality it was Buford and two of his friends who took on the owner of the Plantation Club when he was alone in the club. WOW how screwed up is the Pusser legend anyway? Visit crimemyths for the real story.
mikeelam2010 1 year ago
