if they have time to whisper " charlie's on the dole " then they have time to find their own job , done dole meself 6 months in 92 gardner st , then got a job doin 50 hrs a week for an extra 40 pound , why did i boder ? , HA HA HA , fuck the dole ,get work , shrink the government and give them nothing to do , self sufficiency is the only way ,,,,,,,,,,,, true independence ,

I remember the 3 or 4 boats Docked outside the auld Evening press office Back around 79-80.the dublin docks along the keys where well gone even then.Great song But a very sad song.Fair play t; yeh.
i remember a trip back home about 12 years ago meself and the lads went for a pint down the beds , they were buildin the overpass at the time and the economy was startin to explode , we went into the straw hall and i had some of the best jars ever , the only time there ever , what a great boozer , but they all were when ya could smoke
well there it is the downturne. can you pull your selfells together can you prove to the the commercial world you are as good as is neeeded to return Ireland to formost glowery , personally I thinkyouhave been brillient.
I remember back in the late 70s early 80s the captains docked the little ferry boats at the evening press office.I took that little trip many atime from northwall across to hanover.Great song from auld dublin.Fair play to a lads.
I prefer Patsy's later rendition of this with the Dunliners- his voice is too young on this and lacks the authenticity for a man who's meant to have spent his entire life on the docks!
The DCR played New Years in Celbridge last year and they were completely awesome!!!

Had the rare pleasure of these fine lads singing February 13, 2009 at Poor David's Pub in Dallas.
'Twas great craic!!! A very fine early Valentine's Day date with my husband.
We all sang and clapped along all night. My shoulders still ache from being in motion all night. Fabulous time and the new album is great, too!

"Where the strawberry beds sweep down to the Liffey,
You'll kiss away the worries from my brow..
I love you well today, I'll love you more tomorrow,
If you ever loved me Molly, love me now!"
