of course dog graham isnt going to tell all of you guys that his 80/10/10 diet causes tooth decay.. why would he want to ruin his reputation? if he told the truth about things it would make him look really silly.. also if someone says good things all the time i think it should raise red flags.. if it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is!
@flyoverjoe ive tried 80 10 10 low fat and it wasnt for me. :) i enjoy more varitey and fat in my diet and im not out of shape either.. just check my videos with my shirt off if u guys wanna see proof.. course anyone with a brain would know you can be super healthy without eating this dogmatic diet.. but anyways just thought i would throw that out there. ive been experimenting and researching with diet for the past 10 years of my life so i know what im talking about..
@adrygarcia dramatically reduce your fat intake, eat fruit carbs instead of starch carbs, drink loads of water and green juice, do some simple fasting once a week just eat one fruit all day and water or dark green juice. you gota bring your blood fat levels down so the pathways to the cells are clear and able to except sugars quickly before they build up in the blood.
Here is another concept- 'drive conflict minimization'. I think vegan diet/ 80/10/10 has two potential downsides- social disapproval and situational inconvenience. HOWEVER, I do not consider these good reasons to reject it, to reject what's best. I consider them awful, pathetic reasons actually. I would say the best diet is one that "minimizes drive conflicts" :)
@JackDeSimone In the book he talks about vegetables quite a bit. He recommends 1-2 pounds of greens a day and all the vegetables you care for. Calorically fruit has many more calories. In actual physical bulk, you eat a LOT fo vegetables. But in a year compared to fruit, vegetables are so low in calories they becomes about 2-3% of calories consumed.
@auggiedoggy He bashed his pinky finger (& it's nerves) on a pommel horse back when he was doing competitive gymnastics in High School or college or something like that, if I remember correctly.
@ToolsnFire Yep. and Doug Graham isn't fruitarian either, he's frugivore. A frugivore eats primarily fruit, but also eats other things. A fruitarian eats fruit exclusively. From what I've seen Dr. Graham promotes and eats a diet of "whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic plants" consisting of primarily fruit and generous amounts of tender leafy greens, as well as optional other veggies, nuts and seeds.
Because, when you get old you go through a lot of hormonal changes which lead to baldness in some people. It's part of getting old. Not everything is reducible to diet.
@sec0f111 Wrong. It's because fruit doesn't contain enough protein, but lots of sugar. That is why the vegan diet also needs vegetables, sprouted seeds and grains, grasses, etc. It is about balance.
@777TylerJB Actually you are the one that's wrong. Fruits and tender vegetables are the only required food groups. No ohter group has any exclusive nutrients. As for fruit not having enough protein, it's true that fruit is low in protein but tender greens are high in it. It doesn't really matter though since your protein intake needs to stay at 10% or less of your calories. If you are getting enough calories you are getting enough protein.
@777TylerJB LOL people often go bald as they age. There are many factors to it. Even a perfect diet and lifestyle part-way into your life doesn't cover all of 'em, heck, even a perfect diet and lifestyle all of your life doesn't cover it. All those nasty generational animal experiments show the effects of diet and lifestyle generationally. And then there's the environment...
When I was rawveg and high in fruit consumption, or only fruit consumption for some time, that was when I got tremendous tooth decay and problems. The SHD(standard human diet - the standard more or less cooked 'four food groups') is best for me(I'm nordic ancestry btw)
I've been through it all. It's just a matter of keeping it in balance and respecting what your body indicates by 'feel and perceptions'. We're are Homo sapiens due to our history, which includes our diet.
@ToolsnFire I wondered about that. I thought it was just me. Besides the fact that I feel a lack of energy from fruit only (or mostly) I found that (particularly with pineapple) that my teeth would get sensitive, to the point of hurting if I chewed anything else/more. From chinese perspective fruit are very yin and I feel the need to balance with some yang food to "ground" me. Also, besides the sweet tooth humans also long for other tastes besides sweet, i.e. salty, bitter, sour.
@777TylerJB, absolutely been there done that since 1984 in the cleanse-raw-vedge world, and have been on both sides during that time. I fully understand to an extreme. On some related tangents: Here's the basics: Homo species are associated with cooked food for nearly 2million years. Go live in the wild without fire. Go live in the wild without animal products. Vegetarianism for Homo species is a product of the agricultural revolution which began about ten thousand years ago.
@pixxistix LOL Funny how people seem to get distracted by that so much. It's an old injury from when he used to do gymnastics, competitively I believe, in High School or college or something like that - bashed it on the pommel horse & it never was quite the same again. Much before he was living this lifestyle, but I don't know if that would have made a difference. I suspect there was nerve damage, but haven't asked him about the specifics.
The reason why farmers make more money selling fruits and vegetables is because since lot of corn is being grown, there's less land avaialbe for fruits and vegetables so the supply is reduced. If people were to follow 801010 then farmers will start growing more fruits and vegetables and then the supply will increase and so the prices of fruties and veg will go down.
He is a good speaker and seems healthy. Would be nice if he provided sources for his data. And it would be even better if he posted his dental records and blood work online for all to examine.
Too bad Dr. Graham buys into the bullshit about anthropogenic global warming. CO2 is a trace greenhouse gas, although it is essential to life. Low CO2 runs counter to life. You're smart, Dr. Doug, look into how the global warming religion ignores science.
Not at all, and I didn't say or imply it. I only find it sad that he is buying into the over-simplified reduction of conservationism into a war against CO2, which is a vital gas crucial for sustaining life.
I follow the 80/10/10 diet. I just don't follow the false profit-cies (sic) of the. Goracle and those allied with him attempting to tax the air we breathe.
I've heard alot about the "warmimg myth", so I looked into it. I didn't find anything; alot of name-calling, politics, and making it look bad. But it's filled with ignorance.
Low CO2?? - see Strawman argument.
It's simple: Too much CO2 = greenhouse effect. Period.
CO2 is a miniscule trace gas making up 0.03% of the atmosphere and that does not absorb infrared heat linearly. It is a non-issue, but an easy way to assign a cost on all human activity based on faulty modeling techniques of chaotic systems far more complex than the models reflect.
There's a reason those that don't buy into the hysteria are called "deniers." Because all that holds up the "warmists'" side is religious belief.
The polar caps aren't shrinking, and have in fact grown over the past three years. Photos aren't fake, but often the normal melting that takes place over the summer is shown. However, "inconveniently," when they come back larger than the previous year after October you don't see the photos in the lamestream media.
Do some searching for CLIMATEGATE. The fraud is out in the open now. Time for real conservation, not misanthropic get-rich schemes.
Sure. Go ahead and ignore the science because the other side makes you feel uncomfortable, no matter how odd it is that doomsday scenarios seem to provide you comfort.
Gary, when the governments all over the world decide to make a new Environmental police and to pay kids to inform the government if their parents break these commandments that is when my alarms pop. Gary, when a volcano erupt often more carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere than what the rest of the human population makes in an entire year. The sun also contributes to heat and carbon.
My uncle made an example. If Norway stops for 1 year meaning no one emits anything anymore, no one even farts, that would be about 1/1000 of what the rest of the world release in a day. T

Now my uncle is not a scientist, but it is an example, if a volcano can do the same it would make no difference in the grand scale if the entire world stops producing carbon dioxide. Now the worlds scientists are playing with the idea of creating a bacteria that feeds on carbon dioxide, then I ask, what about the plants if they have no more carbon dioxide they will die out, and the earth will have no way of defending against the sun anymore.
@milesian1 WTF? Of course CO2 is an essential & natural gas BUT the EXTRA (and a lot extra) that humanity is making is NOT natural and is contributing to global warming.
