Actually, all developed countries so far have developed through mixed economies, including the USA which industrialized through extreme protectionist policies and now has had it's largely state-run high-tech industry leading the world for several decades

Clinton's tax hikes on captial gains gave way to the emergence of China and India as industiral powers, and left Bush with no other option but to inflate the economy with paper.

As for the actual Fed chairmen, the current one, Bernanke, is Jewish, so were his two predecesors, Greenspan and Volcker, but Mills (before them) I don't thnk was Jewish.
