About the camera...it's because that makes it so the level designer doesnt have to create a massive amount of eye candy, were you to get a free-look mode you would see that its more then often completley empty behind the camera. It saves alot of time for the developers and alot of memory on the computer so the vicible invieroment can have a higher polycount and such (granted, this game doesnt rly use the capacity of a modern computer).
