Pearl Jam is easily my favorite band ever. I'm 17, and from a young age i've loved Eddie's voice, and as i grew older, i've come to appreciate the lyrics more and more. Truely the most epic band ever
True... Melancholy came over me. I definitely miss being a teenager back in the 90's. when things were simpler. No cellphones, ipods, iphones (!)... no Bullshit. And music was still heartfelt, and honest. such as this piece of art!
Now, poor was said of Eddie's old stage climbing and stage diving ways. But I think they are quite awesome in retrospect. Maybe it is something of character development, though that should not be said as character embetterment. It all is great in it's entirety. And I think of that because a final frame in the video, where Ed is jumping into a superimpo wave.
What is was trying to say was that I remember people saying "Oh, Eddie, you shouldn't be going over the top and stage diving like that..." back in the early 90s. I liked having a small visage of that in this video, because that era of Pearl Jam was short lived. Not that it was any less awesome in later years.
god music...i was 14 when this came out...between nin and stone temple pilots, alice in chains, and tupac n biggie, and em ...we had the best music ever! no time can top the 90's!
But it all kinda ended somewhere around late '97, when the radio stations couldn't find their place and had to focus on (forsake my using these terms) "Nu-rock" and other "semi-rap" rock.
I feel that good music kinda died for the mainstream at that time, as the digital age came afoot soon thereafter and relegated the radio to loners and poor rural kids like me, but I had no liking for what I was given. And to continue...
But I was a teenager in the 90s for only a few of the later years. Though I was listening in disgust in those later years, and turned to music from the 60s and 70s. Yeah!
yeah...same here...teenager from '95 on up. Music started lickin' sack in the late 90's and I blame Bluff Daddy and gay bands like NickelBack and all the pop-punk bullshit that followed after the mid-nineties explosion (after Green Day and co.- at least they could formulate memorable songs)
I got this album when it first came out. 92, and I can say that 10 is of the best albums ever to come out since. Oceans, Even Flow, Jeramy. Pearl Jam Rocks. Keeps me young
They sometimes say "brevity is best"- that couldn't be more true for this song. It needs no more to it- it's absolute perfection just the way it is. Long live Pearl Jam... :-)
Love the song.. Personally I don't think the vid is boring, it is just what the song needs. just relaxed, not too much, if you know what I mean. A relaxed song with a relaxed and nice vid.
