I'm pretty sure at that part there's an invisible "killing field" for survivors about halfway between the building's top story and the bottom. Probably to prevent some weird cheats or shortcuts. They never seem to die before they hit the ground anywhere else in the game...

The Hunter parts seemed to just be you showing off, not so much bad team work on the other guys parts.

Also, I heard (but haven't gotten around to testing) that the hunter can pounce short distances like a jockey when not crouched. Is this true at all?

no i dont think this is true... i have never been able to do that... the hunter can do a regular jump type action... but thats about it...

Unfortunately no. The Hunter is only able to do that in the Demo of Left 4 Dead 2. And you can only play as the Hunter if you use a plugin and cheats.

I agree. The hunter pounces, while nice, don't really show the other team failing unless you believe that you should never get pounced/pulled/etc. ever. Especially since in all of those pounce clips you were shot off fairly quickly. If you were to pounce in the middle of the survivors and they ignore the guy who was pounced for whatever reason, THAT would be a bad team.

It's sort of a mixed bag this time around. While the Hunter pounces aren't indicative of anything, the Jockey portions are very fail with a lot of separation and then a lack of help from the team. The Charger portions are mixed, some of them were very good charges (particular the one of irytn slamming two people into the alarm car), but some were fails (ie. the guy not paying attention in front of the water, or the guy meleeing the charger)
