  • How did you make your tail lihts look like that did you u use the stock lenses with an after market bezel? It looks sick I wanna do that to my 68

  • O and if you want, check out some "B303" videos on YouTube. The B cam seems to lope more then the cam you have in your cougar. I really like the way yours sounds.

  • It's in a 67 cougar so NO smog... Thank goodness! It's actually an explore motor with gt40p heads, the cobra/explore intake and is fuel injected. I've heard the E303 is good. But then I've heard that it runs out of breath at about 5500rpms? I want to eventually build a 347 one day but for now, I gotta make 302ci work :)

  • I got another question: what are the cam specs on this motor? Were you happy with it and what was the power range? Thanks

  • @nocki5oh It was a CamResearch hydraulic roller, sold the thing months ago but remember the lift was .556 and was on a 108 center...it made surprisingly good power for as docile as it sounded, and using the stock 5.0 spider and roller lifters. Pulled really nice from 3500-6300. I was happy with it and really have been happy with everything I've bought from Cam Research...

  • @RoadRacer68 whats your thoughts on the ford racing B303 cam? im lookin for somthin like you have in your cougar...not too radical but somthing that makes power from 3,300, up to about 6,000-6,200. I appreciate the help.

  • @nocki5oh The Cougar has more like the Z303 cam in it. Are you fuel injected? Does it need to pass smog? I really liked that cam actually. We went through the wife's motor recently and changed to roller and I would have swapped the old Cougar cam in if I hadn't sold it, and her car is injected. We went with something more along the lines of the E303 in her car and it's worked out good as well. The idle quality is pretty good and it pulls hard. Made 365hp roughly.

  • @nocki5oh The Cougars cam is more like the Z303, slightly different though. Just depends on what your limitations are..FI? Smog? The B is good, I have something close to the E in the wife's Mustang. Good power, nice idle. Although her cam is a Comp they're close. If you're looking for more grunt in the 3000 to 6500 range it's going to need to be more like the Z. I would get with CamResearch though, he can get you something that'll work..

  • @RoadRacer68 Wow, 2900 pounds is pretty light for a cougar. If I remember right, they weigh 3200 pounds, when stock. If your goin with 331 and a bigger bore, isn't anything 40 over, not recommended on a sbf? Or is it a boss motor (Siamese bore)?

Also, could you please make a walk around video of your cougar and, if you can, motor and suspension? Cuz I'd love to see more of you car!

  • @nocki5oh Yeah it's a Dart Iron Eagle block, so the 4.125 no problem...The Cougar is down for a redo so I can't really take any photo's or video of it at the moment...stored away for a while.

  • @RoadRacer68 Thanks for replying, I really appreciate it alot. I'm gonna keep my vertical bars for now but I agree, they weigh alot. I might fab up some myself. What about the front headlight assemblys, what did you do to save weight there? Cuz those things weigh a ton! Also is there a reason you go with 331 strokers and not 347? I hope you don't mind me asking, I just look at your cougar as an inspiration because everything thts done on your cougar is exactly what I would do to mine!

  • @nocki5oh

Thanks for all the compliments...my headlight buckets and original grill are all gone, fabbed some horizontal bars and attatched a steel mesh to them for a grill. I know it's hard to believe but all the little stuff has added up weight wise..car down to 2900 pounds. In any case, I went 331 for longevity. Side load on the pistons is less severe and all the high rpm keeps the scuffing down. The new motor is a 331 stroke, but the bigger 4.125 piston gets 347 cubes...

  • I love your car! I gotta 67 myself. Just wondering what bezels you used to keep your taillight on? I like how it looks without the vertical bars on it. Also what motor did you put in it after the 331 blew?

  • @nocki5oh

I fabbed up aluminum brackets then attatched the brackets to the lenses, then the brackets to the car. The stock stuff was just too heavy. I know there's a company that makes fiberglass trim rings but they're expensive...

Still working on the other motor, other priorities in life ya know. But it'll be another 331 but with a Dart Iron Eagle block, which I have. I have some other stuff for the motor too, just gonna take a bit...

  • what engine is in it??

  • 331 at the time....but that motor blew up into a million little pieces. That's what happens when you push a 5.0 roller block up to the edge, even with all the studding and main girgle. Lesson learned...

  • with the wheel lips trimmed did it weaken the quarters at all or was in neglegable?

  • @teamsterjeffrey

No weakness afterwards...if it got hit that would be a different story as basically the joint between the wheelhouse and the quarter is gone, that's what I used for the flare. I trimmed the outer portion of the wheelhouse and hammered/dollied the section up higher on the inside of the quarter, re-tack welded it in then filled the gap in with aviation sealant...it aint goin anywhere...

  • @RoadRacer68

parden my french but i jumped outa my fukin skin when you hammered down the throttle, awsome car, you get those in england :(

  • did you trim the wheel well lips for tire clearance?

  • @teamsterjeffrey This was way back in the beginning, wheel lips were trimmed back then, now the car has 1.5 inch flares on all four corners. Just hand hammered the fenders out until I got the look and clearance I was after, then had the fenders repainted...

  • sounds good . hows the paint glenn did holding up? not sure if you run into anyone at the track but i have a set of 13" baer brakes new in the box im trying to sell if you come across anyone? thanks!

  • @norcalcougar I've been asking around about the brakes, nobody yet. The paint is holding up well all things considered. The front of the car looks like it's been sandblasted, but there's no getting around that.

  • It's a 68, reflectors are gone and holes are filled in....

  • It's a 67 not a 68. 68 have rear reflectors.

  • This shit is like a jet a 1:02!

  • GOOSEBUMPS!!!

  • My dad and I are gonna be fixing up a 69 Cougar soon. Awesome vid

  • what motor?

  • 331

  • 3rd gear pull sound = chills. Sounds so friggin' good.

  • Sound sik

im restorinh a 68 with mah pops too lol

  • @izzy1layitlow same with me when we are done im hoping he will let me drive it to school im only 15 but he says if i get good grades i can have it

  • What organization do you race with? Or is this an open track car?

  • It's an open track car.

  • love that paint job....sweeeet

  • car sounds great Im restoring a '68 currently

  • Very cool, love the body style.

  • Update! A couple of small changes, Dynomax race mufflers...445hp

  • this setup rocks! anything can go fast straight line,a real car must turn, left AND right. sweet cat

  • what exhaust setup do you have on your cougar? awesome car you got there!!!

  • Well, in the video it had, JBA shortie headers, 2.5 inch pipe, x-pipe and Flowmasters. I recently changed the mufflers to a Cobrapack muffler from Classic Chambered Exhaust. Similar to a Lobak. The Flowmasters had a very sharp note to them and I was getting close to going past sound at Infineon and Laguna. Ran it this weekend with the Cobrapacks at Infineon and although it's louder, it's more consistant across the board, I'll try to get something up with the new mufflers...Thanks.

  • How much did it cost to dyno it there?

  • 125 for 3 pulls.

  • HI

    ENGINE ?

  • 331, Vic Junior heads (mild porting), Cam Research roller, steel crank, H beam rods, pretty standard stuff...still running pump gas.
