You assume a bit too much. Most people don't even know about the project. But anyways, while it was a lot of money invested in the project, it has created jobs and projects, especially for engineers and scientists. Plenty of management occurred, aerospace, mechanical and electrical engineers involved, control system designers, research scientists, CAD drafters, scientific advisors, prototyping and testing (and those involved), aircraft technicians, and joint work with SpaceX.

For all that don't know NASA and DARPA have been working on a projectile that is flown to the edge of earths atmosphere and is essentially bridged off of the rocket that brought it up to the edge of the atmosphere. This projectile is supposedly able to reach speeds up to Mach 20 (I believe). Later on, when this is perfected it will be able to create the damage of a nuclear explosion without the radiation. But then again this is another experiment by DARPA

Why do people think spending 2 million dollars on space programs is a waste of money when we spend well over 5 billion a month on the war in Iran and Afghanistan. Why do people think spending 2 million dollars on space programs is a waste of money when we spend well over 5 billion a month on the war in Iran and Afghanistan. The fact is, the moon has many resources on it including a very large deposit of titanium and the potential use of Helium-3 which is very abundant on the moon and has the potential to be the next main source of power of all our goods.
