Please do not get a red foot tortoise if you don't have the room for one. Manny has a ten foot by ten foot enclosure all to herself. Anything smaller would be cruel. Too many people buy these guys as hatchlings and raise them in cramped aquariums, where they languish and die.

Manny is 6 now he has no pyramiding and eats mazuri tortoise diet exclusively. She eats strawberries, mushrooms, bananas, and greens here and there but her staple is mazuri tortoise diet. The stuff is the perfect food. I have read this and that from here and there but it's all bull. I have a perfect looking tortoise raised from hatchling in perfect health. If you want the best food mazuri is the best food for captive tortoises bar none.

hey, at what age can u tell the sex of a red food tortoise? i have a 2 and an half year old that looks like a female, she is a bit smaller than yours. i wonder if its really a female or if it could be a male that has not developed yet.

Guys Manny will eat a cup or two of strawberries. I only give her fruit a couple times a month. The rest of the time she eats Mazuri tortoise diet exclusively. All of my torts eat Mazuri as their staple diet. All of my tortoises are in excellent health and have very little pyramiding. This was taken during her soak. Her enclosure is 10x10 feet. She is going to be six on her next hatchday.

Hi, i just have one question to ask if anyone would know, i just got a baby red foot tortoise not to long ago and so far iv cought it upside down 4 times each times i put it back on its feet right away and iv made its terrarium so it cant tip itself over the most i could but sometimes it try's to escape and ends up falling on its back, i just want to know what the risks are that maybe someday i wouldnt be here to flip it back right way and also if anyone hase anny suggestions

Its a common problem. I never had it but try to ask someone that knows a lot about turtles

Make sure that your tortoise can't see beyond it's enclosure, because if it can it's going to try to escape. If it can not then it's not even aware theirs another world out there.
