if it had a 460 i would go out there and buy it right now, its my dream truck that style in really good condition with a 5 speed and a lift but it has a 6 cylinder so thats to bad i guess
man i LOVE that truck.. id kill for it up in till you said straight 6.. i mean don't get me wrong i'm a fan of the straight 6.. my neighbor had a step side 150 with the straight 6 that was a mean little truck.. but in a truck like that id prefer a 460 big block :P or at least a 351.. but yea id definitely buy that truck.
hey ram i just chopped my old exhaust system out the stock stuff down to the cat going to add a 24 inch glass pack so close i can taste it all is left is removing the old tranny and adding new one after my glasspack comes in
@94dirtbikelover They are located six miles east of downtown St. Louis, on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River off I-55/I-70 at exit #6 and Illinois Route 111. They are visible from the highway. You can get their address from the website at GatewayClassicCars .
I'm fairly certain that its not a shackle reversal kit that's done to the front in, because the 89 F250s came with the Dana 44 TTB (Twin Traction Beam) front axle. This truck has a Dana 44 straight axle in the front. Which makes this thing a killer off-road truck.
@casebutler Are you sure? To my knowledge they only offered the IFS with this body style, I also misspoke, I meant Dana 50 TTB, not that it really is relevant to the debate.
@DaveyCooter i almost bout a 1989 f250 4wd 5spd 351 (it was a pile of scrap thats why i didnt buy it) and it had a solid axel that im sure was stock then i bout a 1990 f250 4wd 351 e4od and it had the ifs witch i was surprised to see look up ford f series on Wikipedia i may be wrong but i dont think i am
@casebutler I have a truck like the 1st you described.. Except for the whole "Pile of Scrap" and the solid axle. And when i bought that truck, I looked around for one that had a solid axle that was swapped in, because at that time I was in possession of a solid axle but I didn't want to have to go through the trouble. I probly looked at a dozen different trucks, and they were all IFS. Wiki isn't helpful here, it says starting in 1980-1996 they offered the IFS, but it doesnt say much else.
@RamblinAround I like you. You seem like a nice guy. Most youtubers get so defensive over nothing and like to blow up if you do anything to insult them but you didn't. Good for you.
that truck is beautiful lol amazing!! my grandpa had an old '88 just like that but a f350. about 90kms on it. probably sat in the barn for about 5 yrs
BTW ford trucks F150 and up had dual fuel tanks for gas and diesel from 1980 through 1997. the rear tank is notorious for creating leaks
@chamblizi That's kind of a tough question to answer, because it depends on which vehicle, what kind of suspension you start out with, and how high you're going to lift it. The smartest thing to do is to find a company that offers a lift that is made specifically for your car or truck.
yea between the cost of insurace and price of gas we just sold our 1923 ford t-bucket street rod...the new owner is coming to pick her up this coming weekend :o/ not happy about this at all, but oh well the stall is open for the next project anyway
@1gamoguy Yep, sometimes it's just time to move on to something different. Things always seem to cycle up and down...I'm sure you'll have another hot rod in the garage at some point.
@RamblinAround yea i will have to do a video of her before she gets picked up this coming weekend, no doors so you always had to climg into it, i sat taller than the windshield so with the top off was pretty windy lol and when you wanted to horse around a little or had one of the kids pull up next to you in an import (which was funnier than hell by the way!) she always wanted to pick up the front end, we got 425hp and she weighs in at just under 1800lbs :o)
@RamblinAround ill do a video probably saturday, i had one allready on here before my computer crashed, i want to shoot a video actually out driving it so people can hear it running, but i suppose i can do a quick on in the shop with it sitting
very clean very nice truck, however with a 35 gal fuel capacity and the price of regular unleaded you would have to work another full time job just to keep gas in the damn thing!
@1gamoguy Man, that's the truth. I'm definitely starting to notice the price of gas lately. I think this will probably end up being a weekend toy for the next owner.
The only thing it really needs to be perfec is a 460CI V8. The 300 I6 is a damn good engine and VERY reliable. But for a truck like this, I can't Imagine having anything other than Big V8 power. Oh and by the way, that blue late 1970's era Ford you have in the back ground is beautiful to!
oh my jesus i love the chrome. driving my bro's truck i notice that the hood is close to where the roofs on normal cars are, makes me feel kinda pretty.
needs a 351

Very nice truck. The inline 4.9 six is a very good engine. My uncle had a 1986 Ford Bronco with inline 6. As far as speed 5.0
would out run it. As far as climbing a tree,
the 6 would do it over the 5.0 or 5.8.
fordexp2002 2 months ago
@fordexp2002 the truck could climb a tree? thats impressive lol
