Very nice truck. The inline 4.9 six is a very good engine. My uncle had a 1986 Ford Bronco with inline 6. As far as speed 5.0

would out run it. As far as climbing a tree,

the 6 would do it over the 5.0 or 5.8.

man i LOVE that truck.. id kill for it up in till you said straight 6.. i mean don't get me wrong i'm a fan of the straight 6.. my neighbor had a step side 150 with the straight 6 that was a mean little truck.. but in a truck like that id prefer a 460 big block :P or at least a 351.. but yea id definitely buy that truck.

hey ram i just chopped my old exhaust system out the stock stuff down to the cat going to add a 24 inch glass pack so close i can taste it all is left is removing the old tranny and adding new one after my glasspack comes in

I'm fairly certain that its not a shackle reversal kit that's done to the front in, because the 89 F250s came with the Dana 44 TTB (Twin Traction Beam) front axle. This truck has a Dana 44 straight axle in the front. Which makes this thing a killer off-road truck.

@casebutler I have a truck like the 1st you described.. Except for the whole "Pile of Scrap" and the solid axle. And when i bought that truck, I looked around for one that had a solid axle that was swapped in, because at that time I was in possession of a solid axle but I didn't want to have to go through the trouble. I probly looked at a dozen different trucks, and they were all IFS. Wiki isn't helpful here, it says starting in 1980-1996 they offered the IFS, but it doesnt say much else.

BTW ford trucks F150 and up had dual fuel tanks for gas and diesel from 1980 through 1997. the rear tank is notorious for creating leaks

@chamblizi That's kind of a tough question to answer, because it depends on which vehicle, what kind of suspension you start out with, and how high you're going to lift it. The smartest thing to do is to find a company that offers a lift that is made specifically for your car or truck.

The only thing it really needs to be perfec is a 460CI V8. The 300 I6 is a damn good engine and VERY reliable. But for a truck like this, I can't Imagine having anything other than Big V8 power. Oh and by the way, that blue late 1970's era Ford you have in the back ground is beautiful to!
