  • I can't wait to show you mine when its finished! I got creative and hammered out my own copper shims from an old piece of plumbing to make the neck fit flush to the can.

  • @VinnyMartello Good for you! Very cool.

  • Excellent sound and video! Could you tell me the fret board length and gauge of strings you are using?

  • @jeffreyned Not really. It's an old tenor banjo converted to a 5 string. Probably medium strings. I prefer D adario but don't know if I had them on this one or not.

  • Cigar Box or not. You make that instrument sound sweet.

  • @frogsoda Thank You!

  • That is so cool!

  • its sad that has better tone than my old global--but i have fake fur --it works!--now if i can forget my guitar pickin finner stuff-and do like that

  • hello sir i have a question a fiddle friend of mine wants a tenor banjo how much would you charge to make a gas or oil can tenor banjo?

  • @cat2972 Unfortunately I don't make them to order. Once in a while I'll sell one I've already made. Don't have anything available right now, but am thinking of making a couple during the winter if I can. I usually get around $250 for one of mine.

  • Yep, the song is John Hardy. Some great bluegrass versions of it out there too. Nice work.

  • Thie sounds fantastic! Love your playing and banjo. I have only built one CBG but now I really want to build a banjo like yours 5***** Steve

  • That's a tenor neck converted to a 5 string. I think that song is John Hardy, but I'd have to look it up to make sure. It's one of those ancient outlaw songs, where John Hardy shoots some guy in a poker game and runs from the hang man's noose.. hahaha.
