  • sour bends and same licks over and over again :(

  • I love me some Margovallen !!! thanks so much sweetie !!!you tell it girl !!!!you the queen of the Hop !!! big hugs !!! Scotty

  • great playing!

  • Pretty good playing for what it is. Majorly expressive? Hell no! And I don't care for a steady diet of it. Porter Wagner hair, Fender clean with an over-whelming reverb. Doesn't speak to my soul. Nerve-racking! Copying songs note-for-note kinda takes away from the intention per the blues. If it was boring as hell the first time around, why would it be any better? With some players, blues is the choice because somebody thought it was an easy style in which to shine. Not the case, if done right.

  • @margovallen What Do You Know About It Brother? Its All Relative Anyway: And Who The Hell Is He Copying Again. Anson Has His Own Very Distinct Style To People Who Actually Have An Ear To Hear The Mastery.

As Far As Not Being Expressive Is That Because The Guy Dosen't Make Faces Like Hes Trying To Pass A Bowling Ball? Seriously Just Wandering What You Are Struggling To Say Here.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER LOL! That would be "Sister"and I know enough about it to have expressed the legitimate opinion in which I did. I sincerely believe that in order to have.. much less, express.. an opinion worth expressing, one much possess enough knowledge per the given topic / issue to allow credence to ones opinion.

Please don't tell me he's not copying note for note standards he performs. I said it was pretty good. I'm sorry to have offended you.

I'll start keeping my opinions to myself.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER I'm sorry, did you not read my reply to you? Seems like I stated something about

KNOWLEDGE when forming/expressing opinions? And it is my prerogative to express my opinion and thats exactly what I did.. thank you :-)

You are preaching to the choir, sir.. as I am a blues and rock guitarist.. and I know all about practicing, repetition and redundancy... the hours it takes day by day.. year after year.. to fill a 'bag of tricks.'

I am also a 40+ year veteran on the drum-kit.

  • @margovallen OK. Miss Einstein you are clearly my intellectual better and have a dictionary open as you respond so lets just put this one to rest. Its all relative Baby your glass half empty ...mine half full. You seem to feel warranted to justify having an opinion which psychologically is a clear act of defense. It all slides off my back and my feelings aren't hurt one way or another. Gate-mouth Brown once called B.B King "One Dimensional And Boring".So much for anyone's opinion.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER No dictionary, sweetie. But, I will admit that when I'm doing my research and study, I sometimes will have to refer to a dictionary. If my glass is half-empty.. it's 'only' half-empty. Warranted to justify my having an opinion? I had expressed that opinion 3 months ago. You all of a sudden make some snide, condescending remark to me.. because of my opinion. Look mister! You're not going to turn the table on me here. I'm not feeling "warranted" to do a darn thing. Get a life!

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER I know exactly what kind of dedication and perseverance it takes to get good at playing a musical instrument. My statement is quite well-founded and anything but, erroneous and/or impulsive. You would only suggest such because it differs from your own, yes? And it matters not if he were dubbed the greatest guitar player ever. My position stands, my friend. I don't care for his tone or his playing style. A guitarist who is weak in spontaneity sucks IMO. Robben Ford can wax him.

  • @margovallen Your statement betrays your ignorance on the matter,. People who truly understand the art of music realize it is not about competition but true expression. Oddly a term you tend to like to use but obviously have your own definition. Each artist imparts their own soul and spirit into a piece of music just as surely as a masterful painter breathes through each stroke of his brush. To turn this into an inane argument about who kicks whose ass in childish and where I respectfully exit.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER Sweetheart, you've misunderstood. I wasn't speaking of anyone being better in the simplistic elementary way in which you seem to think.. but, I am speaking of the whole package.. the whole delivery and all it's elements. Everything from volume, tone, phrasing, licks, feel, runs, vibrato, dynamics.... overall virtuosity.

People like Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter Robben Ford, Joe Bonomassa are all much better deliverers/player.

I know its not about competition, per se.. but

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER "Ignorance" means 'unaware of'.. or 'lack of knowledge in'.. so, you're sadly mistaken, sir. How can we have an intelligent dialogue if you're going to utilize terms you don't know their meanings? We simply cannot. I don't use terms that I don't know their meanings.. and surely do not make up my own definitions. How asinine.

You know, when a masterful artist paints a masterpiece, not everyone who looks at it is going to like it. It's all about perspective and personal tastes.

  • @margovallen Thats your prerogative to withhold or air your opinion For we live in a free society. However when one does voice or opine on a matter they should have some grasp of the subject matter.

Every musician plays sequences, licks , phrase thus and so it is part of the process of learning and committing the bio-mechanical function to muscle memory. This comes through methodical repetition and designed redundancy and is not based on spontaniety or any other dynamic.

  • The greatest concert musicians spend countless hours on basic structures and scales in order to build a foundation. It is the same with any musician even those who demonstrate a profound "God Given" propensity or gift. Perhaps you will consider this fact in light of your rather erroneous statement about an Artist who is widely respected by all the best Guitarist in his chosen genre as a tenured master In closing I stand by my objection to you rather impulsive and not well founded observance.

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER Yes? Well, I have 2 ears.. so there! I'm not 'struggling' to say anything. I'm not the one wearing Depends :-)

"Expressive" in this dialogue, has nothing to do with making faces. Are you sure you've ever gotten more than 3 blocks from your own home? ..... You have, just not without your helmet, right?

Heres your first guitar lesson : "This is the pick."..

Ok see you next Saturday.. and try to be on time, ok? Thanks! Hahaha!

  • @margovallen Thanks sweetheart , i thank you for your opinion , Big hugs , Scotty

  • @teebeeferris You're welcome, honey. I never said I didn't like Anson.. just there are some I prefer over him. Anson would understand that perfectly.

  • Totally speechless. This is cool defined to the highest order.Awesome sense of melody.Very inspirational.

  • Yeah buddy! Anson is one of the great Texas Blues players of our time. Thanks for the footage.

  • This guy has lived in the shadow of Jimmy Vaughan, Ronnie Earl and others for too long. I bought one of his records in the early eighties. He had Daryl Nulisch on board then. It was just like the T-Birds, maybe too much like them. Jimmy has moved on, Anson still plays the way he always used to, and I love them both. Great tone, great music.

  • what a great lead! Super solo man! who is this guy? very very cool!!

  • It´s Anson Funderburgh. He´s got a whole bunch of records released on the Black Top label if you want to investigate his music.
