Im Puerto Rican, and Im mixed but I clearly have black in me.There's alot of identity and race issues in the latino community. I AGREE 100%, and I would never put down my African roots. But while being proud of my African roots, I am also proud of the fact that Boricuas have finally started to unify. If those features are superior why is it that many people around the world have plastic surgery (lips injections and butt implants) to have what black people have. Races: Black, Native American, White, and Asian. Those are the races/ethnicities.
Puerto Rican, Dominican, Spanish, African, Carribean those are NATIONALITIES. People can't seem to distinguish the difference between race and nationalities.

ok, Dominicans are not black, real dominicans are basicly indians, Columbus brought africans to the islands, and they were scared of them, because Columbus brought over guns, and smallpox, and basically raped the white out of dominicans. Africans would rape a domimican, if it was a girl, the child could live to be raped, and if it was a boy, the child would be smashed on a rock. Dominicans then joined up with the perto ricans and fought all the Africans to the west side of the island.....

@MrAmericanpride100 My race is black/of-african-descent (D'UH). I'm not bashing people of African descent. I'm bashing aspects of african-AMERICAN culture that manage to spill out and go global. Most of those things are musicians that promote violence, crime, and disregard of family values. It's not about art/fashion "styles". It's about the negative lifestyles they promote. Rap may have started out reacting to the existing environment but now it promotes it.

Not all Dominicans are black. I'm Dominican and I'm pretty light skinned. You can check out my picture if you'd like. Spanish people ARE a race. It means that you're from Spain. What you're trying to say is that most hispanics are black. Not true. I'm not black. Most of my family isn't black and we're Dominican.

EVERY time I've ever been asked if I'm "black" it turns out the ACTUAL question they were asking was if I was an "African-American" (from the U.S.A.). To which I replied "Hell No".
If the dominant forces in current African-American culture were the likes of Oprah, Bill Cosby, Virginia Hamilton & Quincy Jones I'd lie and say I was.
