About 5 % of people are born gay so chances are a small number of the pipe smokers you already know are gay.

It is insanely conservative, but luckily the coast values freedoms a little more (where I live). The climate is wonderful, Charleston is one of the most beautiful cities in the US and I can live within walking distance from the beach

Haha, a similar thing happened to me a while back; I am currently living in Japan studying Japanese, though my Japanese is far from perfect, and one night I was hanging out in a bar talking to a girl, trying to flirt a bit and having a good time, and when she asked my favorite part about Kyoto, and I replied it had the best temples. Unfortunately the word for 'temple' and the word for 'toilet' are quite similar (otera, and oterarai respectively). Fortunately I managed to correct myself in time.
