Look at PETA and ALF for doing this as an act of bio-terrorism. It is NOT beyond their capabilities and PETA has been stooping lower and lower with it's add campaigns. Remember Christmas 2006... same plant and syringes were found in packaged hams. Are the two incidents related? I don't know but I would be looking into it, if I was the CFIA. Like I said look at PETA and the ALF as possible suspects.

I work for maple leaf and i am proud to work there! This could happen to any plant that makes food products. Most People let what the media has to say run there lives and they couldnt gather facts and sort them out in there head if there life depended on it. People think for your self! Maple leaf is an excellent company that is committed to bring the best to the table. I wouldnt want to work anywhere else and I feed any one of our products to my own kids without any worry at all.

Ya feed you to die what a great company bad safety and inspection procedures if proper procedures are in place none of this wouldve happened wake up. I will never buy any of there products ever again. The CFIA should be held accountable too we as Canadians take too much crap from these big companies and political corruption we need to take a stand. Has it occured to anyone that Maple Leaf food products can only be safer now and that they will be the safest food products on the market as a result of this unfortunate situation? There are many other smaller food producers out there that do not follow safe food handling practices..are you going to trust them to feed you and your family? Safety measures will certainly improve. But the approach will still be flawed; management is the one who dictates new or stricter procedures. The problem, as with most corporations, is that insight from individual workers is completely omitted from the formula of company improvement. Workers observe, experience, and know variables that management often & usually overlooks. Yet workers are never approached for their insight other than the minor and weak suggestion box that sits on the wall.

The equipment is cleaned daily. Unfortunately due to a design flaw parts of the equipment can harbour bacteria which could not be detected by means of the normal testing process and were unknown to the quality assurance staff. This has been rectified fully. Sadly this was discovered far too late.

CFIA will no doubt be reviewing it's operations and most certainly Maple Leaf is. As a consumer and a Maple Leaf employee I have full confidence in our products.I hope that you can regain yours in time

Like i said i wont and i said it about wall-mart and i have held up with that i refuse buts thats a whole different ball game. Sadly too the government is at fault with cutbacks in testing and i am no fool i am also a proud ufcw steward wich i see what really goes on in politics as well as companies. I am actually not surprised that this outbreak occurred. I used to work at another ML plant. Health and safety rules were constantly being broken. I observed so much including machinery not being sanitized after cleaning, floors of rooms being high pressed washed although there were ready-to-eat product in the room, poor training methods for new workers, the health lab room itself was filthy, & much more. I spoke up & eventually quit. Of course I was only labeled as a troublemaker, and a quiter.

Worst crisis ever for ML, no one planned this, it can happen to any company. Bacteria is a scary thing. How bout countless other sloppy cies who don't follow standards, butcher animals inhumanely, don't sanitize their facilities, sell contaminated food anyway (mad cow disease is still around),we don't hear about them. Ca peut etre grave c'est vrai mais la population ne doit pas paniquer a l'extreme avec ca. De nombreuse personnes (dont moi) a deja été infecté par cette bactérie. Pourtant nous somme encore en vie. i quit eating at Subway restaurants a few years ago because employees refused to wash their hands before making my sandwich after touching money which is the dirtiest thing you can work with.
