  • 5:33 Shit gets real.

  • come se fosse vero!

  • Classic scene... kinda lame, but classic. I preffer the duel at the end of "Tenacious D and the pick of destiny" 1000 times... I'm guessing it was Mr. Miagui who told Daniel Larusso to play the guitar...

  • Ry Cooder plays the slide parts.

  • 2:54 = Okay bitch NOW i play really hard.

  • das erstemal das ich das in der orginal tonfassung höre ..(noch besser)

  • I always thought that in terms of never practising paganini before, the devil-guy does amazingly well just by hearing it once.

  • hah in 6:00 and 6:53 i was like WTF because i played this Paganini on my violin exam this year (of course much faster but its incomparable)

  • @mati357

It's not all about the technique ;)

  • @guitarplayer1994 don't know what you suggest but didn't say it bro ^^

  • ralphs guitar has too much distortion steves is just right

  • The guitar duel is played by Steve Vai and Stevie Ray Vaughn as far as I know

  • @TheGrandLastStand

its ry cooder and steve vai

  • Man, hell looks like a pretty cool place

  • wow steve vais so good he can harmonise lines with himself, lolz.

  • That was so cool, havent seen that one in a long time...

  • steve vai is well awsome i would love to get like him

  • @KalvinCoon

I have been playing since 1989 and you do not get to that level in 6 months even if you practice 8 hours a day.

Ry Cooder played the Ralph Macchio parts, Steve Vai played his own.

The piece he played to win the duel is Paganini's Caprice #5.

  • @dtfreak very true no1 will be playing like vai in 6month no chance i mean some people pick up really quick i do myself but to get to his level it takes years upon years 1 awsome guitarist

  • Who are playing the guitars?

  • what is the song the boy plays to win the duel?

  • Steve Vai is great at pretending to suck.

  • HAMMER

  • It doesnt get any better!!

  • he guitar-kicked his ass!

  • lol steve did all the guitar here the kid is just a actor but props for the cool imitating of the hands

  • first he knows karate, now he knows neo-classical metal?? wow.....

  • @fidelis51 lol its not the same guy

  • @proguy5920 It is the same guy.

  • @theshortcan fml.. it is.. my bad lol

  • @proguy5920 Ralph Macchio?

  • @proguy5920 Ralph Macchio? and btw, im talking about the characters he has played.

  • @fidelis51 lol yeah my bad i stand corrected

  • Only Vai can fail at failing.

  • so at the end it's gods classical music vs the Devil's blues music? I'm going straight to hell then

  • ok is it just me or do 17 people have no taste in music?

  • Fuck to the 17 who don't like, Steve you play such as a god !!!!

  • Fuck to the 17 who don't like that video !!!!! You're simply a God

  • PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE

    Stop doing that

  • @CommieHippie What, How can you hate it ?

  • Go fuck yourself !!!!

  • @cedroof

You sound like a little girl

  • @Knightgil What ?

  • I was about to subscribe, but then the big green subscribe thing came up and I didn't.

  • I love this scene and this movie, so don't get me wrong, but I've always thought it was a bit stupid that he won with a Paganini piece. I mean, the whole movie was about blues and improvisation in music, and even this duel was in improvisation. so it seems kinda lame that in the end, Paganini defeated blues. not to mention that it was basically cheating to play a piece by Paganini, which he practiced before.

  • man steve vai is such a bad ass

  • Comment removed

  • In karate kid ralph macchio beats up a much stronger, more talented boy, and now here he defeats steve vai in a guitar duel. how gullible were we back then? i say the time has come for a movie in which ralph macchio enters a bear-taming contest under the tutelage of a grandfatherly mentor, and then, when he approaches the bear for the big event, the bear claws his head fatally. then the bear eats his neck and slurps up all his fucking blood. roll credits. paint that, motherfucker.

  • Paganini FTW!!!

  • the dancing black chick kinda ruins the entire clip

  • @aydooknow i dig Her! and did back then to!

  • @aydooknow she'd still be awesome in bed with attitude like that ... o.O

  • Damn!!! HEAVY METALl versus BLUES.....and the winner is CLASSICAL :)

  • @zetmetal classical was here first

  • the 21 frets telecaster can play higher than a 24 frets ibanez, oh no.....

  • Steve Vai Vs Yngwie Malmsteen ?

  • WOW I NEVER THOUGH DANIEL SAN WOULD PLAY GUITAR LIKE THAT =P HAHAHA

  • @ivan666death

    It isnt daniel san lol

steve vai does all the guitar throughout this film

  • @PaigeyBbyxx except for what ry cooder does

  • @PaigeyBbyxx

hahahah yeah i know but it's funny xDDDD

  • @waliuxD Yes

  • One of the best parts of any music movie ever made.

  • Les Paul?

  • does anyone know wich model is this steve vai's guitar???

  • @altopo Headstock's unmarked but it looks like a Jackson headstock, and it IS Steve Vai, so I think it's a Jackson Soloist. These days he plays the Ibanez JEM though

  • This scene is an orgasm in movie form.

I could watch it over and over again. For those who have not seen the movie, it's good. Check it out.

But, this scene is definitely the topper.

  • points or no points your dead meat

  • he shoud've just crane kicked everyone in the face

  • steve vai here is so humble... XD... its just a scripted scene... look steve vai now... master.

  • Put Steve in a body bag, Daniel!

  • 1:00

    Bad Horsie!!!!

  • The reason Steve Vai lost is the he uses a pick. If you play with your fingers than you have more control. That's why he choked at the end. Also another thing is the guitar. The Telecaster guitar is more pure and organic, it's the electric guitar at it's best, where Steve Vai plays this Ibanez with a whammy bar. The whammy bar definitely took points off from his playing.

  • @Pbassman74 mate sorry for being pedantic but in this vai isn't using an ibanez (i know that his main guitars are ibanez) but in this vid he's using a Chavel San Dimas look the film up on wiki if u dnt believe me.

  • @hondansx1000 Oh, you're right, I was just being cheeky anyways. Hell, look at my screen name, I'm just a bassist but I love guitar playing and support (in my playing and in my listening). I love the Telecaster, it's the only guitar I can play, probably cuz the neck is chunky. I know Steve did Ralph's solo too cept the slide done by Ry Cooder. When Steve did Ralph's solo did he use a Tele. I can't fully tell with all the distortion but there is some twang. like a bridge pup sound?

  • I always thought his solo didn´t sound so Telecaster at all...the first part did but the final solo sounds like it has been played on another kind of guitar...anyway this was great, I was scared of Steve Vai as a kid because of this movie...look at him, looks so young.

  • The Karate Kid dominates Justin Bieber

  • I always wanted to know what was up with the people at this bar. Why did everyone appear to be out of The Color Purple except for Vai.

  • Ry Cooder On guitar and Stve Vie.. Watch the kids Hands , Great bit of super impossing..

  • @longstack1 It´s amazing how you fake such a thing.

  • Whats the name of the song that the kid plays and owns steve with?

  • @XxXaesnXxX Eugene's trick bag/a rip of from Paganini's 5th Caprice.

  • Ry Cooder=GOD

  • Steve vai is the shit!!!

  • @ChalicaBordeaux your so weak!!

  • So does anyone know the riff played after the win? (it is not big bad moon as some have said)

  • 7:51 Steve : BULLSHIIITZZ!!!

  • @FerchoMusiic weak guy!!

  • I kinda wish he would have crane kicked the chick dancing

  • I dont like the annoying girl thats dancing around -.-

  • @ThePilgrim95 it is part of the movie! if you don't like it! don't watch it!!..

  • I bought this movie on VHS a long time ago and actually broke the type watching this part over and over again so many times. To me, this scene could have lasted 20 or 30 minutes. Can't find it on dvd though!

  • Karate Kid V's Crossroads

  • final bttle is good:P

  • is that steve vai??

  • @buanheng Yes the one and only Mr. Vai :)

  • this movie is fucking awesome!!!

  • i find it hard to believe that the second coming of christ on guitar was defeated by the karate kid.

  • i need a ramake of this movie

  • @wallertdwp

maybe it´s better to keep just the original one. Remakes can bring a high risk of shitty executions! ;)

  • what is the name of the movie?

  • After seeing this I looked up the movie on Netflix and Im about to watch it XD

  • the kid's part were dubbed right?

  • @elGranMatrak0 yeah

  • @elGranMatrak0 Most of the battle is played by Steve Vai, except for Eugene's blues parts at the beginning of the duel which are played by Ry Cooder, you can find more details on wikipedia.

  • it looks like stevie is gonna eat ralph and i luv this movie

  • its that bad horsi from steve vai

  • @marcus08revilla yes sir ree it is.

  • Comment removed

  • dude and steve vai and ralph macchio are only 1 year differnce in age but ralph macchio looks like a little kid

  • So daniel-san plays guitar now?

  • Steve Vai is so good, he kicks his own ass.

  • The first riff the Karate Kid plays is by far the best. I know what to play now if I ever get stuck in this situation.

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • boss!

  • Lol that annoying black chick dances like a parrot.... or chicken.

  • Actually alot of people probablly dont know this, but Ry Cooder, a blues guitar player for the band Taj Mahal did ALL of Maccios parts for the guitar playing in the movie.

  • 4:53 - 5:21

    Owned!

  • what type of blues he plays at 1:39

  • hmmmmm BAD HORSIE!!!

  • satan totally kicked ass

  • OK...for the record... Ralph Macchio did NOT play guitar...his parts were played by Ry Cooder...an acknowledged master of the slide guitar. Thank you.

  • @dougww1ectebow This movie is based partially on Robert Johnson the blues master from the early 1900s who supposedly sold his soul to the devil to learn how to sing and play guitar.

  • isnt this movie about the song cross roads?

  • Like this if you think they should make a newer version.

  • Steve Vai is deliciously "evil" in this film. The guitar playing is beyond great - it is perfect for the scene and the journey Ralph Macchio's character takes in the story. He paid his dues to play the blues and boy does he play when it counts! Just brilliantly orchestrated, filmed & performed.

  • that black chicken lady scares the crap outta me :l

  • @vansboy13 LMAO!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was the only one! She's freaky - fits the bazaar environment perfectly but if I saw her on the street I'd go running in the opposite direction. NOTE: Am sure the actress is not the character, but the character is frighteningly demonic.

  • I made my deal, now who want's some?

  • I came

  • I have watched this awesome duel 29,002 times, I swear it.

  • "I got a real good gi-tar player big white boy, made a deal with me few years ago; cut's head every Saturday night..."

  • the guitarrist of the devil yeah

  • Ry Cooder played Ralph's part...Steve Vai as himself.

  • Bad Horsie :D

  • Stevie Vai still rocks....ne1 know who was standing in for Ralph Macchio?

  • the guy with the red guitar...is really steve vai?

  • @WASP77gunner yep, he surely is

  • Steve vai kicks his own ass

(he played both parts for the people that dont know)

  • Mto foda esse duelo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @xxxScepterxxx lol he'd prob'ly lose the battle before it even begins...

  • @xxxScepterxxx LOLOLOL Now thats a funny comment!!!

  • steve vai looks pissed

  • IT IS ACTUALLY STEVE VAI VERSUS STEVE VAI
