  • The Catholic church opposes abortion with the exception of rape and incest.

  • @PatriotRachel Actually, the Catholic Church opposes the ending of another life without exception. Only cases in which the lives of mother and child are severely at-risk does it become a possibility that the child's life could be prematurely shortened, but even in these extremely rare cases it is not necessary to end the child's life by abortion. For more information you may wish to visit Abort73.com

  • R. C. Sproul Jr. should know that the Church - the Catholic Church - has never been silent about the evils of abortion. We have opposed it publicly since the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade in 1973 and have been the most most vocal of all who intend to see this slaughter of the innocents end.

Norma L. McCorvey, identified as "Jane Roe" in Roe v. Wade eventually rejected the lie that is abortion and was received into the fullness of Christ in the Catholic Church in 1998, praise be to God.

  • @petruscephas The reason we have legalized abortion is mainly because Protestant churches supported Roe v. Wade. It has taken many years for a minority of evangelicals to start to take a stand against it.

The one thing I disagree with you on is that the Roman Catholic church opposes all abortion -- they oppose it in word, but then they support Obama-care and oppose the state Personhood Amendment initiatives. Their strategy is now to REGULATE abortion, not to end all legal abortion.

I assure you that the Catholic Church has opposed and will continue to oppose abortion in all its forms wherever it finds it.

You might want to search for "Priests For Life" to discover what one Catholic priest is doing to end abortion in our time.

Also you might search for "Father Pacholczyk" in order to better understand the position of the Church on stem cell research, birth control, euthanasia and a host of other topics related to moral doctrine.

    Thank you for your post.

  • @petruscephas I assure you that if the church opposed the gates of hell, the gates of hell would not be prevailing. The problem is that NO church is doing anything in deed to oppose abortion. They oppose only in word. The Roman Catholic Bishops (and Fr. Pavone) oppose the Personhood Amendment initiatives and any law that does not include the "exceptions" on the advice of their lawyers. How can that position be defended? There are individuals who are being obedient, but NO CHURCH here in the USA.

  • jcr4runner

I'm simply speaking to you from the point of view of Catholic Canon Law which is absolutely clear in its condemnation of abortion.

To understand the severity of Church law on the subject of abortion, please do a search on "Catholic Canon 1398" which reads, “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs a latae sententiae excommunication."

By the way, Fr. Pavone and Fr. Pacholczyk have done great work along the lines of educating the public about the Church's views.

    Thanks.

  • @petruscephas As I said, in word not deed. If the Roman Catholic Church, which is the largest single organization in the world of any type, cannot stop abortion in America, it is simply because they are pro-life in word not deed. The same goes for every other church organization.

Or do you have an explanation as to why abortion is legal in the USA if the RCC (the "ONE TRUE CHURCH" as you see it) actively opposes child killing? How could it be possible?

  • jcr4runner

Perhaps it would seem that the Church could, of its own will and influence, bring about an end to abortion. If only this were so.

Yet you may be overestimating the power of the Church in the world. No secular government is under any obligation to obey the Church, and although the Church has made clear God's repulsion to abortion, governments are more interested in obeying the wishes of their electorates.

But, since the Didache in the 1st cent., the Church has condemned abortion.

  • @petruscephas Jesus said, "Upon this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

Abortion is surely a gate of hell and right now it is prevailing.

What is your explanation for that?

You say the church condemns abortion. But what is the church NOT doing?

  • jcr4runner

Very good question indeed. But I suppose that all of us should ask ourselves that question. What am I not doing to end this holocaust of 3,700 innocent lives destroyed every day in our country?

I will ask that question of myself in the coming days and try to answer it before I am called to answer it in front of the Lord.

Again, thank you for posting this video and thanks for the discourse.

May God bless you and, as we say in the Catholic Church, "Pray for an end to abortion."

  • Mr. Sproul is absolutely correct on that. If you look to closely at the Satanic practice of abortion, it will drive you mad. From my perspective, i have literally had it dominate my thoughts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and when it has that kind of control of you, you have to re-look at the way you are living your life, that you need to live your life for the glory of God ultimately. With that said, may we NEVER EVER rest until this holocaust is over and no more children are dying, AMEN!

  • Insightful commentary. As a woman who has always been fundamentally against abortion, and as a member of the Catholic faith, I decided to look into abortion on my own during my 4 years in nursing school. I can honestly say that as an RN working for over 31 years in trauma, nothing has ever bothered me as much as watching abortions. Seeing a living child delivered (not supposed to happen) and left to die in a sterile tray is something I will never, as long as I live get out of my mind.

  • @otl700 While doing your studies, please read the Bible and put your faith in Christ ALONE. The Catholic Church is not Christian, it has many pagan roots.

  • So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

    Revelation 3:16
