i recently bought a kia sorento. It's driving great right now and im loving the features they offered. HOWEVER, and this is a huge HOWEVER, i've been reading reviews, and have found that the Sorento has Transmission problems and steering problems. This makes me a very concerned consumer. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is investigating the problems. Google "2011 Kia Sorento Investigated by Feds for Possible Transmission Failure" and read for yourselves.
Just bought a 2011 Kia Sorento. 4 Cyl, w/ 3rd row. It has excellent horse power and are happy with the gas mileage over our previous Chevy Trailblazer. The 3rd row is ONLY for kids. One thing goofy with our model, it didn't come standard with daytime running lights.
We got our 2011 Sorento about a month ago and is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. We wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't been assembled by American workers in Georgia. Even though the 4 cyl has good pickup, I would have liked the 276 bhp V-6. Maybe my next one.
@SyphonFilterr I have had it for 2 months now. It is very comfortable and I am getting in the low 20's in mixed driving. Highway mileage is around 26-27 for me and I have the V6. I recommend this car.
@airtexaco Wow! Nice and thanks for the reply. Do you recommend V6 or without V6. I was thinking if there isnt much difference I should save money and buy normal automatic version.
@SyphonFilterr I test drove the 4 cyl and it was fine, would have been very happy with it. I hated the color of that car so picked another (all of the others were V6). All of the Sorento's I have seen have been 6 speed automatics, it is a very smooth transmission that rivals the VW DSG. Let me know when you drive one =)
I don't sell Cars.... i show KIAs and people invest in these vehicles with a smile. I'm at Vernon KIA in BC Canada and have to say it's hard for me to hand over the wheel to my potential customers during the test drive. I purchased the 2011 Kia Sorento, and could not be happier. I absolutely love my Kia. Plus with the 10Yr 100,000 Mile warranty Kia must really have confidence in their products. I have been very impressed with the vehicle's quality and my decision was between the Chevy Equinox of the Kia Sorento, and I am very happy I decided to go with the Sorento.

I bought this car because it gave Americans jobs. I could have bought anything I wanted to buy but, I think it is important to go with a company that has vision. GM used to have vision but, they lost it a few years back so Kia/Hyundai have me as a customer now!
Just a quick note we were in the market for a crossover we look at the Audi Q5 our buget was 40k the Audi was beautiful no doubt the price 43k thats was for the mid level model the loaded out was 50k .
@RLLDZ Sorento we Order ours Maxed MSRP Was 34,590 we got it for 30,489,in Pacific Blue.The Audi was beauitful no doubt! We saw the Sorento at a traffic light decided to take a quick look.We were "SHOCKED" The Sorento hands down blew us away ,the ride was so much better than Audi.I know sounds crazy.The Ride,Handeling,Looks and its loaded! Worth every dollar we paid :)
Then 2 days before going to get the Audi We saw the Sorento and said what the heck lets drive it .We were shocked actually blown away at how great the ride and handeling was! Im proud to say we order our Sorento EX V-6 AWD fully loaded maxed out every opt except DVD player you cant get that opt with the full glass roof total price 30k! Thats 13k to add back to my savings account :) Will be receiving it in about 6wks:)
Kia has really improved over the years and with the new Soul, Forte, and Sorento their futures look bright. Their employees should have some job security with these new products. The new Sportage and Amanti replacement looks great as well! Congrats Kia, others should take notice and learn!
People should stop making dumb negative comments about Hyundai and Kia. It literally created over 50,000 jobs for the U.S. citizens here during this economic hardship. We could've done what other corrupt rich people could have done and gone for that easy and cheap "Made in China" stuff.

I'm seeing different "EPA" ratings on the various car websites listed, and can't find any official ratings on fueleconomy(dot)gov (the EPA website).
I feel that we're being lied to about mpg.
I simply do not believe that there is only 1 mpg difference between the 4 and 5 cyl versions for one.
