  • @IsaacTVorigina be careful what you say about led zeppelin

  • Amazing TMV track, one of my favorites since Frances the Mute album.

  • Love the chorus

  • great song. great hair.

  • three mason!!!!!!!!! its a devil song!

  • is the line, "sand man grains in teflon veins" referring to sand man = middle eastern and teflon = western? help me out.

  • I saw TMV open for SOAD... great show! But TMV and PT would be epic!

  • fuck comparisons. i want Mars Volta to become their own

  • their worst album, but its pretty good.

  • Glad to see many other Porcupine Tree fans out there! TMV and Porcupine Tree are both two of the most fantastic bands out there, some of the rarely good modern prog.

  • @eleventhsun Porcupine tree is the shit! To all of you who have never listened to Porcupine tree do it, and see them live, is even better :)

  • i love these guys

  • porcupine tree is more like a rip off, they make a sound exacly like those 70s prog rock groups. The great thing about MV is that they bring a unique sound, personaly I've never imagine that you could be so powerful mixing latino sounds with prog rock.

  • @caiofaiao wow porcupine tree sounds nothing like 70's prog bands. i agree MV sounds more unique and actually more like 70's prog bands. MV are a good staple now but personally i think they've gotten stale and repetitive. sadly modern prog bands of that caliber are extremely rare if not non-existent

  • porcupine tree is sick but i wouldnt compare them to the mars volta...or floyd...i guess id just compare them to porcupine tree...yup....thats it

  • let the wheels burn let the wheels burn...stack the tires to the neck with the body inside

  • @Token528 JFK didn't invent the motorcade.

  • If you can make sense of the lyrics, let me know

  • @Kar4zyy it's about kidnappings in latin culture.

  • 0:34

That guy is absolutely mystified by Cedric's glorious butt.

  • Teflon is a nickname for a politician to whom criticism does not stick kind of like Kennedy or Reagen who no matter what the scandal, his popularity never dragged.

  • I'd storm the white house with this song screaming in my head.

  • DL the audio from this clip at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • @jazzybrandon808 As far as symbolism goes, you go off DIRECTLY what they put in front of you. If there's a fucking KNIFE through this 'omniscient eye', it's there to BLIND it. If you were broadcasting the Illuminati's beliefs and imagery, then you would do it EXACTLY as they would want you to, without altering it in any way. You should be able to comprehend ANYTHING Illuminati based before arguing any points either for or against them.

  • @TheT2DJ Yeah, I'd say that statement is completely accurate.

  • Song meaning or interpretation?

  • It's funny how this sounds so tame for a TMV song, but it's at about the same intensity as the average rock song. \m/ >.<

  • Woah....the symbolism!

  • Mars Volta will stay forever.. to the posterity..

Maybe later, it will became a modern Led Zeppelin.

  • @Luckzzz I really don't understand why they are always compared to Led Zeppelin besides maybe Cedric Bixler Zavala's voice being SLIGHTLY like Robert Plant's voice. I find The Mars Volta to be waaaaaaay more similar to King Crimson than Led Zep. Check out the album "In Court of the Crimson King" and tell me TMV don't remind you of it!

  • inxy

  • @inxyEdits Oh shit, inxy. What's good, kerm?

  • Why is there like 5 minutes of silence?

  • @FourNow4 Three minutes my good man.

  • AH MAH GAWD, forum drama!

  • illuminati will rise with a reign of terror

  • @dropboys1 clearly the allcaps got the point over. @DrPMD23 tell your lame poser friend to light one up and chill then

  • @dropboys1 clearly the allcaps got the point over. @DrPMD23 tell your poser ass friend to light one up and chill then.

  • there's arguments on you tube too! oh no!!!!!!

i thought this was a video.hahaha.its just pix,,,

  • they put up tons of religious symbolism and other intense ideology like magick and aliens in their backdrops at concerts and in their album artwork and in their videos. dosnt mean they prescribe to any of the ideas they present.

  • @DrPMD23 u r kidding right? so what your saying is that you realize what those symbols are but you dont think they support it? its like saying a guy wearing a shirt with a pot leaf on it doesnt smoke weed. come on dude, youre half way there! its good music i know cause i use to love it myself, but seriously why support a band who wants to destroy you? they fool millions..its fkn ridiculous.

  • @jazzybrandon808 are you dumb or something? ive seen christian islamic jewish and satanic symbolism in their concert art. how can you be all 4 of them? and btw one of my best friends wears a pot leaf shirt and he dosnt smoke weed actually cant stand it. just shows how ignorant you are. sometimes images are meant to be ironic, or just funny.

  • the tour poster in the beginning of the vid has sooo many satanic and subliminal symbols its totally lame. I had a feeling that volta was going through some kind of change around the time john theodore left. john was hella anti-gov and i dont think he wanted part of that illuminati crap. speaking of the illuminati-theres a pyramid with the all seeing eye too. WTF!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jazzybrandon808

That was done by some local press guy to advertise that show. He probably got it from like, google, and added "THE MARS VOLTA" at the bottem.

  • @beefcake8888 local press+guy = media. the word is vague and would be hard to see who he really works for, but lets get passed that. #1 fact is that omar and cedric are control freaks about every single aspect of their music and advertisements are probably no exception. i doubt they were ignorant to see it themselves. further more, try to understand how media works through "suggestive theme committees" so that the ones responsable remain unseen. regardless of what you see this is how they work.

  • @jazzybrandon808 if you didnt notice the all seeing eye has a knife going through it

  • @dropboys1 lol soo...a knife through the eye indicates what? the symbols are still there. if theyre really against them it wouldnt be up there in the first place. if you educated yourself about what they do maybe you wouldnt be in such denial. i mean listen to those lyrics for goodness sake:"let the wheels burn, stack the tires to the neck with a body inside" does that not sound fuken crazy to you dudes? too many things exposed in this band to have a valid argument with me...debate ended.

  • @jazzybrandon808 maybe it symbolizes: stab the fuckin all seeing eye so they cant be "all seeing" and the rest of your statement made little to no sense..

  • @dropboys1 (big sigh) lets get passed the eye okay? literal forms of art mean nothing. these symbols are designed to be comprehended through the subconscious mind=psychological control. your very actions have exploited the ability of these symbols: you've chosen to justify this bands hidden motives and stay ignorant to facts im carefully presenting without ever searching for the truth yourself. so why? because they say ignorance is bliss..i say enlightenment can be horrifying. debate ended

  • @jazzybrandon808 lol you comment still contradicts itself, you say my actions distorted my view, but didnt you try to justify their reason too?

  • @dropboys1 UGH, NO! the point is that you insist to argue without DOING THE RESEARCH YOURSELF! WHY GIVE UR SOUL SUPPORT TO THEM WHEN THEY DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT U!? PLZ ASK URSELF THAT! UR TRYING TO FIGHT A BATTLE U CANT WIN BECAUSE U HAVE NOTHING TO VALIDATE UR STATEMENTS. I HAVE DEDICATED ALOT OF MY TIME TO ENSURE THESE ACCUSATIONS R TRUE AND U WOULD FIND THE SAME IF U QUIT FKN DEBATING WITH ME AND FIND THE TRUTH FOR URSELF! UR WASTING MY TIME! IM NO LONGER RESPONDING TO YOU. DEBATE ENDED!

  • @jazzybrandon808 but listen to me, you keep telling me we cant explain, then continue to explain it non-sensically, whats with the all caps anyway? cant scream over the interwebs bro lol

  • @jazzybrandon808 I see nothing satanic about the album cover. Subliminal, maybe, but not satanic, and subliminal completely and totally defines this band's style.

  • @GiJeebs lol u guys r killin me.. in regards to the tour poster; its not just the 'all seeing eye'. theres two types of pentagrams on each side. one represents the goat head the other is used for witchcraft(yes satanic, volta admits they fkn do it! cmon!) all symbols present are inspired by gnosticism. i know wtf im talking about here people! debate ended

  • @jazzybrandon808 Uh no, on the left is a Star of David, a common symbol of the Jewish faith. I think you're missing the point of this poster.

  • @GiJeebs 200 years ago, before this symbol became recognized as the universal sign of judaism and jewish identity it was chiefly associated with magic or with the insignia of individual families or communities(illuminati). While many legends state it was used by David and Solomon, no real historical proof exists. Rather all evidence suggests that early use of it, the hexagram was limited to "practical Kabbalah", that is, Jewish magic, probably dating back to the 6th century. DEBATE ENDED.

  • @jazzybrandon808 wikipedia?

  • ill bookmark this and be sure to check it out next time i get blasted

  • This song encourages the unlawful combustion and disposal of vehicular debris.

  • @BERCEIR371 is this not worth buying?

  • love this song.

    love this band

0:43 to 0:52 sounds like geddy lee from Rush.

  • This Band have a rare quality: He blend complex music, intellectual lyrics, noise with heart-touching melodies...

  • Wow, I have totally forgotten how much I appreciated this band.

I got burned out of them for a bit and have been listening to a bunch of prog. technical metal bands.

But i was toasted last night and i listened to this song, fucking delicious!

  • @craig8hernandez DUDE I could tell the exact same story, happened to me about a week ago hahahaha

  • Its amazing what omar and cedric have evolved to. ive been with them since at the drive in. Hell Paso! and i still love at the drive in!

  • Octahedron was a bad album, but this is the one good song from it.

  • After all The Mars Volta's albums, i can rest in peace! +1000...

  • these guys inspired very many people in the world

  • If you're just now finding out about these guys I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but mars volta aint one.

  • Ok, not ashamed to admit discovered this Band from that retarded fucking movie get him to the Greek,to which I will be ETERNALLY grateful for, because this band

    KICKS FUCKING ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Truly OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how did I not know about these guys? If you know of another band like this[hidden GEM],let me know PLEASE

  • @themosmitsos Dude, before mars volta formed, they had another band..

called At The Drive In.... THEY ARE AMAZING.

i personally like them better then volta, the sounds different.

but still amazing. check em out

  • @joshcky0113 i love ATDI. such a good band ive been a fan of them waaay before Mars Volta, but i still them!

  • @kccrew123 fuck yeah dude not one bad song

  • @themosmitsos Porcupine tree. listen to the album fear of a blank planet

  • Absolutely chilling, each time I hear it. Every note resonates like frigin dynamite. What is next boy's? As I joined this odessey long ago and am ready for more.....

  • Can't ever get enough of this band. Totally junkie at this point.Seriously, badass.

  • "Taking all the hostages into the oval office

Draw the curtains and pull the trigger softly"

    Fuckin' mental!

  • These guys are the Salvador Dali of music!

  • @TheT2DJ OMG i never thought of it like that, that is SOOOO true, im going to tell my friends that. But i wont take the credit.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheT2DJ ive said that exact same thing before, the first album also reminds me of william s burroghs for some reason.

  • @TheT2DJ I don't have enough thumbs to approve this comment.

  • @TheT2DJ hope not he was an ashole:D

  • does ayone else notice that the background beat for this song sounds like the music for the song a story teeth rotted for?

  • @ieroscarpet apparently it was like on purpose? i remember reading it somewhere

  • @thedanieltmv yeah i looked it up. I noticed bc i got the cd abscence makes the heart grow fungus before octohedron came out

  • let the wheels burn let the wheels burn stack the tires to the neck with the body inside.

  • Very nice song

  • i'm a huge pink floyd fan and this is the closest modern band i can relate to them

  • @jmhemmis0

i think mars volta is inspired more by king crimson rather than by pink floyd

  • @k0stil the song Viscera Eyes reminds me a lot of Crimson

  • @jmhemmis0 It's like Rush meets Pink Floyd.

  • @jmhemmis0 check out porcupine tree, and other band called riverside fucking sick

  • @jmhemmis0 Porcupine Tree?

  • @jmhemmis0 maybe but you are wrong, we dont need a new pink floyd, we dont need a new king crimson, we dont need a new sabbath and a new zeppelin, we need new musicians with new ideas and sounds to the human history. and Mars Volta is doing his job.

  • @yovioleatuzorramadre nicely said

  • @jmhemmis0 I know exactly what you mean there... I have every Floyd LP AND every TMV album. Nothing else has ever made me feel the need to hear it all!

Also, thank you so much syn93, I have also been looking for that font for ages!

  • @jmhemmis0 I would say closer to Led Zep

  • @jmhemmis0 In the same time we can heard a litlle bit led zeppelin influence :D (in others song) I don't know why they don't have more sucess!!

  • @jmhemmis0 They are nothing like Pink Floyd, Mars Volta are much more relentless. A modern band deeply influenced by PF is Porcupine Tree, check them out.

  • @jmhemmis0 Mars Volta is a greta band! but for me the closest modern band is Porcupine Tree,

  • @Deibizide holy shit, lol i was just about to say the same thing to jmhemmis0

  • @jmhemmis0 Listen to Porcupine tree..

  • @jmhemmis0 what about radiohead

  • @jmhemmis0 talking shit dude... Pink Floyd isn't related to Mars Volta... If you are a good fan of Floyd you should start listening a bit more.

  • @jmhemmis0 May be wrong but this is Way, way, way better than floyd in my opinion.

  • @jmhemmis0 that's true dude

  • @jmhemmis0

uhm...I agree they are both great bands but not really related. If you're looking for a modern day pink floyd try porcupine tree instead.

  • @jmhemmis0 These guys are a bit more out there, but a band I find is like a modern day version of floyd, genesis, yes etc is Porcupine Tree. Once you spin their albums you will be hooked. Fucking fantastic prog rock.

  • @eleventhsun lol i love how everyone seems to pretend they don't sound exactly like Led Zeppelin, *just considerably less good* rofl.

  • @sh4dowbunny

    because they don't jackass.

    ur way off dude.

does the drum beats sound like zep? no.

    guitar? fuck no.

    effects? not at all.

although I do love both bands.

  • @jmhemmis0 Also check out the band Porcupine Tree. Like Mars Volta, they have been said to sound a lot like a modern day Pink Floyd. Listen to these three P.T. songs and if your not feeling them then it was not meant to be.

Time Flies (sounds a lot like "dogs" by Floyd)

Sound of Musak (insanely creative drum beat)

    Blackest Eyes (Kicks ace)

  • @openyourmind888 are all these porcupine tree comments from real fans or a promotional thing?

haha i wanna check em out but once i see three on the front page i'm a tad concerned it's just a clever little spam scheme.

if not i wanna check it. :O

  • @ChaostheClown It's not spam. I just searched them on YouTube, and they're really good. They're definitely worth checking out. Like a softer Mars Volta.

  • @ChaostheClown Seriously check out PT - it takes a while to get into but once you're hooked - that's it - have been my favorite band for years mate

  • @ChaostheClown Porcupine Tree is one of my favorites, definitely a fan!

  • @openyourmind888 You could have told him better PT songs, those are all awesome but they aren't the newcomer's first choice when it comes to PT. Try the start of something beautiful or arriving somewhere but not here.

  • @2fast4u2beat i wouldnt say those either i'd say all of em

  • @jmhemmis0 Haha I gave up even trying to relate anyone to Floyd anymore. However, I do believe that Cedric Bixler would do a mean Robert Plant impersonation, and that the ideal Zeppelin cover band would be a conglomeration of Mars Volta & Mastodon band members.

  • @akathasamurai i...i think that comment just made me come.

  • @MasterHMH Haha I'm glad that I could be of assistance.

  • @akathasamurai yup i've thought that since i first heard cedric yearssssss ago

  • @akathasamurai Jack White would do/does a better Robert Plant than Cedric.

  • Song is so fucking groovy... How can you listen to the bassline in the chorus and not just go "Damn, this one note can take over the world."? Love them

  • aboout dream theather and the mars volta..uh.the mars volta would be the fire ..right?

  • FODASSO!

  • such strange artwork

  • wow so i dont get knoed for shitty spelling it is actually

  • i fuckin love this band. omar's a modernday Mingus.

  • @1983alp you are absofuckinglutley wrong in everything you just said. masun has absolutly none of the stage presence that the volta possesses. and added to that the style of music is in no way similiar, they are two very different bands and have completely different talents.

  • @1983alp The Mars Volta >>> Mansun <<< The Mars Volta

  • @1983alp errr no i dont think they are. i dont think theyve ever heard mansun [who were one of the most under rated bands about btw]

  • @1983alp obvious troll is obvious

  • @1983alp

haha thats max dump sayin such a thing ... you obviously got no clue about music

  • prigden is a good show off

  • Im kinda disappointed by the drumming in this song. Pridgen can do alot better drumming than he is letting on here.

This song could be played by.. like... the Chili Peppers drummer. Pridgen can do insane stuff with his drum kit, he can use every single piece in his kit in the most complex ways, and do it ridiculously fast and still change it up, AND, do it consistently.. When I hear this guys drum-work, i expect it to be something I wouldn't hear from anyone else.

    That said, its still good!

  • @asspills well he plays the drums that way on purpose, because it's his interpretation of the song.

  • @asspills Even the most gifted drummers don't just chug out insanely fast beats every song. The most talented drummers know how to restrain themselves in order to fit the feel of the song.

  • @asspills the time signature is still insane. this is not easy to play by any means

  • @asspills

This song is a chance to let yourself get lost in a feeling.

That is all it is. By setting 'standards' and 'what you're used to' and 'what you want from thomas pridgen' you're not letting yourself in.

  • @asspills Drumming isn't always about complexity. The beat in this fits the song brilliantly, much better than if he started throwing his sticks round the kit doing polyrythms and such.

And if you actually listen the beat is quite interesting, lots of little offbeat cymbal bits and such.

  • @MrKillaknot actulyy this beat is a bit of a polyrythem count out the intro and follow the snare and cymbal work they are in diffrent time sigs.

  • @MrKillaknot basically, omar composes like freaking bheetoven because he is an effing musical genius and a guru and all members of the mars volta are ninjas, we get it.

  • @asspills I see where you're coming from but i respect Pridgens drumming even more here because everyone knows he's a tech-wizard on drums but he also knows how to hang back and let the song sing by keeping the drumming more musical and relaxed instead of overtly technical

  • @asspills your name is asspills so its funny

  • pero que PUTA¡¡¡ que todos los artistas de ahora son ILUMINADOS¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • i have said it before I will say it again: Cedric is a fucking beast. Freddy Mercury, Robert Plant, on that level

  • theyre illumanati!

  • @danny401913 are they really

  • @waxriff lol well they have one of the symbols of illuminati, the eye in the pyramiad in there album art.

so i wouldnt doubt it. lol

  • this is newer shit like 2009

  • @3rdeye1983

    it's not emo dumb fuck.

dont diss shit u cant understand.

  • @ozzydragon sarcasam dude? oh man rofl

  • Any idea where I can get my hands on some of these slides?

    Thanks!

  • @rn3rodriguez make one, I did it aint too difficult. Use a hacksaw to carve a groove all the way round a bottle neck and then just tap it on something and use some abrasive to smooth out the edges. Theres a ton of 'how to vids on youtube. Long live mars volta :) peace and love

  • TMV are easily in my top 10 bands of all time. I mean, really they are up there with bands such as Pink Floyd and Radiohead...

  • @BetterTasteThanU your father sneezed while fucking your mother and the bad sperms fertilized her bad ova and u were the result

  • Now this here is the stuff. Oh yeah. Modern music that actually goes old school and rocks. Love their sound. Tired of all the Nirvana wannabe's, nose pickers, mama's boys, no talents, no neck chicken livered geeks. WE NEED MORE STUFF LIKE THIS!! Yes, yes! Amen, I say unto you! Mars Volta rocks! Booyah!!

  • Does anybody know what year this album is, is it one of their first albums? or newer? Cedrics voice is much more developed here, wich makes me think its newer, but the simple textures and basic regular rythms make me think its older. Im not sure.
