  • Ironic that Sherlock Holmes is mentioned in the list of fabulous characters (Basil Rathbone, the narrator, was Sherlock Holmes)

  • I'm guessing it takes place around 1890's to 1914, before the start of Wolrd War I. That motorcar must be a Renault.

  • If you make a parody of the wind in the willows use

    1. Thomas as Toad

    2. Percy as Rat

    3. Oliver as Mole

    4. Gordon as Badger

    5. Toby as Mr.Winkle

    6. the freight cars as the weasles

    7. Oliver as Cyril

  • @bakbergenov Racist!

  • Comment removed

  • @bakbergenov What do you mean by Walt is a racist. and what do you mean by Mr. Winky and Ichabod crane are typical Jews.

  • Comment removed

  • @spacemaster911

what bakbergenov means is that Walt Disney was a racist to Jews back then.

and he means they act like jews in a bad way by disney.

but i believe its false on what hes saying

  • @dudetocartman Many smart allics say that Walt Disney was racist. Not every film is racist and btw go watch a show about Walt Disney and hear what the people who knew him say. Those people said that Walt was amiable to any one of any race, sex, and religion.

  • @spacemaster911 I wouldn't go that far since there are some extremely racist disney movies... as far as these two go, however, I agree that i'm not seeing it.

  • ahhhh, the wind in the willows version ive been searching for! RIP vhs tape that i can't find.

  • i remember this =)

  • Is Mr.Toad's horse voiced by Tweedledee/Tweedledum?

  • Whoa!! Basil Rathbone narrates in this movie?? Weird!!

  • @mrclassickids He's reckless, you saw how he crashed it into everything. That's where all the bills MacBadger had to put up with came from.

  • what happened to cartoons this is two cute

  • Mr. Toads Wild Ride!

  • To the 6 dislikes: NARRATED BY BING CROSBY!! HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE THIS!

  • Wind in the Willows was in development in 1941 as its own standalone feature. Because of the War, it was downgraded as a featurette.

  • @baxterfilms BUT the project was used in a package film released with ichabod in The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

  • aw in this the live action movie and the book the mole is the most adorable character! why is badger scottish though?

  • @3fatkid because in here he's called MacBadger

  • I liked this cartoon alot when I was little but my favorite was The legend of sleepy hollow :)

  • DID THEY JUST CALL THE WATER RAT STUFFY???? In the book he was the most jovial whimsical one of all. Just more sensible than Mr. Toad! >:O

  • i have never seen this movie before...TTHANK U FOR UPLOADING IT :)

  • this was the best when I was 4!!!

Sigh. I'm scared what my kids will be watching, with all the crap on nowadays. :(

  • I love this story, but this version doesn't do much justice. Mr badger is not Scottish and ratty isn't a freakin detective!

  • Ratty and Mole look like sherlock holmes and watson except ratty has watsons mustache.

  • the sad thing is I can´t find this film as a DVD anywere!! =(

  • Blimmy govner itsa motor car

  • :) Good to know that some people still want to go back and remember good movies.

  • Never seen this, but I decided to have a disney night and I am very curious about this movie.

  • @nightsong348 Ditto. Got dejavu tho :/

  • i fainnnntly remember this

  • loved this movie when i was a kid :D

  • Hahaha now i understand the ride in Disneyland!

  • "we're merrily on our way to nowhere in particular!" hahahaha awesome!

  • Ratty and Mole kind of remind me of Basil and Dawson.

  • @spiritgirl41192 DON'T THEY?? I've always thought the same, except I've always preferred Basil and Dawson. Nothing against Rat and Mole- they are just as classic. But I grew up more with Basil and Dawson! R.I.P Old Disney...may some miracle bring you back soon!!

  • @spiritgirl41192 but Basil and Dawson don't remind you of anyone?

  • hahahaha toad is so childish

  • OMG I have never seen this but always wanted to! Toad is like awesome! I think this is going to be good.

  • no one beats disney classics love it<3

  • wow toad sounds like a real optimistic guy and a happy go lucky fellow id love to have him as a friend and i hope his story get used as a world in a future kingdomhearts game and if that dosent happen maybe ill use him in my film adaption of kingdomhearts when i become a film director after i finnish film school

  • One day I will unplug my kids cable and Internet and show them this movie and others.

  • @Swimpro737 Do it now!

  • @incompletex But I don't have kids. I was talking about when I have kids. And if they are sucked into the world of Tv.

  • @Swimpro737 DO IT! NOW! This is what kids should really be watching. Classic 2D vintage Disney.

  • @Swimpro737 and all the old disney shows like gummi bears and winnie the pooh. not zach and cody or hannah montanah.

  • @Swimpro737

Have you done it yet? lol. If so, how did they like this movie and the others?

  • @Swimpro737 kids now a days dont know what a good movie is

  • What I love about this, is that in the opening scene he asks "If you were to choose the most fabulous character in English literature, who would it be?" and then names Robin Hood, King Arthur, Becky Sharp, Sherlock Holmes and Oliver Twist.

What's fantastic is Disney went on to make animated films about four of these five as well.

    Love this film.

  • Who voices the horse?

  • @JuSt12JiNdAwG probally Mr. Ed

  • @JuSt12JiNdAwG but seriously J. Pat O'Malley

    voices Cyril the horse

  • @Superpepsiman20 I found it after, thanks anyways! Cool horse, I love that voice so much.

  • I still have the Video cassette my mom bought from England!!!

too bad I can't watch it though..

    Youtube is amazing..

  • THIS WAS MY FAVORITE MOVIE WHEN I WAS LITTLE =D

  • Yay! I have been looking for this everywhere!! Thank you!

  • I've been looking every where online for this!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING! lol

  • Thanks for posting I love this. Madame Dementia

  • Who cares if this is one of Disney's underrated cartoons. Watching these animated flicks were what Disney used to be about; opening doors to new ideas, successful or not. Now it's all teen drama crap that no one gives a damn about. What the hell happened to Disney?

  • @Disneyfan82 MIchael i'm really really really greedy Eisnener or how ever you spell his name

  • @Tadicuslegion78

    It's Eisner actually.

  • @Disneyfan82 thanks

  • Thank you man, i couldnt find this anywhere

  • 6 people are very stupid:(

  • at 1:57 what is the narrator saying? it's between King Arthur and Sherlock Holmes

  • @doublecrunch64 Becky Sharp. The heroine of William Thackeray's "Vanity Fair".

  • lol, i feel like mole somedays when going to work :-P

  • Here's something interesting: a lot of the characters the narrator mentioned in the beginning later became Disney movies:

    Robin Hood

King Arthur (Sword in the Stone)

    Sherlock Holmes (Great Mouse Detective)

    Oliver Twist (Oliver and Company)

  • same rat as in the great mouse detective

  • @CarlyxCrash i know i love the great mouse detective

  • Wrong!

  • Mr. Toad and Cyril remind me of Mad Hatter and March Hare

  • thank you! i loved these stories and the movie!

  • I think Mr. Toad and Cyril like to run around all the time

  • I just spotted a mistake between 9:32 and 9:42 -- Toad got his pants pulled off by Rat and Mole, but in the next shot he's got them back on. Did he just have an extra pair or what?

  • @catbass93 I think that's his long underwear.

  • @catbass93 That was no mistake he is wearing long underwear like men did in the old days.If you look close you can see the "trap door" flap on his bottom

  • Was there a lyric-writers strike when they put together the opening titles for this film? Surely they could have come up with something more imaginative to sing than just the title "Ichabod and Mr Toad" over and over. :)

  • @RebmaBoss Scotirish. :)

  • lyrics to the song? PRETY PLEASE

  • Why dont they make stuff like this anymore?now ts all drama and teen love-_- boy I wish i lived when these were made

  • 7:52 Yoink!

  • The rat looks very much like someone from the great mouse detective, I can't remember who at the moment though :P

  • i love disney

  • Raaaaaaathbone! :D haha now im exited.

  • from 6:33 to 6:35 does he say "Fuckingham"?

  • Bing Crosby and Basil Rathbone??? How awesome is this!!!

the rat is soooo darn cute! :D

  • Man, this is a nice cartoon and all, but to me, Toad was the worst character in the book, not the best, he crazily took everything to excess but was never satisfied, and his friends paid the price

  • R015Terrell, disney has always tended to take liberty with books.

  • i watch fun and fancy free when i was little

  • @LordMoufMouf He did make a good storyteller :) he passed away though :(

  • the postman is not disturbed hes talking to a water rat? lol I've never seen this in all my 18 years of life! I ought to get smacked for not spying this treasure years ago lol

  • Amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • Is this "Wind in the Willows"?

  • You see what happened was Disney released this film the way you see it here in 1949. For whatever reason in the mid 50's Disney split up the two stories, and calling them "The Wind in the Willows" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".

It wasn't until 1999 where they put the two stories back together, which is how you see it here.

  • @jfkjrlover Yes it is

  • scottish or welsh!

  • ahaha "its a mowteh car"

  • i remember this when i was little. brings back memories.

  • To gitsumcomeon - Thanks a million!!!!

  • Cheers.

  • Anybody - who is the fabulous character in English Literature mentioned in the intro - Mickey ???. I watched this countless times and cannot understand what he says. And it's driving me crazy!

  • Becky Sharp.

  • Added to damage list, Hedges and Greenhouse

    At 4:45, "Destruction: Hen house"

  • @Deanmo23 lol

  • My fav

  • Definite proof that you can learn from anything: to this day I always remember the image of the wagon going up the hill when I'm trying to figure out if something's perpendicular XD
