  • I live in Serbia.. on actorsacces there is no Serbia :O What should I do?

  • How do I know if workshops are scams or not (since you have to pay to get in)?

  • @englishjumper123 Look up the casting director to see if he/she exist. There are some huge companies out there that get a good crowd. (Actor's Key, Reel Pros, The Actors' Network, etc..etc..)

  • @englishjumper123 See who is doing the workshop. If huge Casting Directors and Agents are doing it- then it's worth going. Scam or not, you get some face time in front of important people.

  • Hey John, I am a 21 yr old actress in chicago and I have been doing theater for 15 years. I am moving to LA in August and I was wondering what agency would be good to take me to the next level in my career which would be transitioning to film/television? I am mixed so I can play a variety of ethnicities and I guess my type would be oive complexion with long curly hair.

  • @nicaarielle Well it's not really what agent is right for you...It's more about you finding an agent to take a risk on you. When you first get into the business, you don't have the luxury of picking any agent you want. If you have an Agent in Chicago, ask them to 'refer you' to people out here.

Also, pick up the book, 'THE RIGHT AGENT' $10 at Samuel French Bookstores in Hollywood. They have a broken down list of what certain agents are looking for, for their agency. Good luck.

  • hey john. who are you signed with?

  • @bbytweak you can see who my current reps are on IMDB PRO.

  • How can I get a list???

  • Can u become an actor even if u don't live in the LA, NY or Chicago area

  • ya. I would absulte. want and agent. U SHOULD MAKE A HOW TO ASK YOUR PARENTS VIDEO. lol

  • Jonh, do you have the Hollywood agencies list?

  • @avi778 Yes I do!

  • @FilmGuyJohn How can I find a list?

  • @avi778 Go to bbs.backstage(dot) com The people have listed the top agencies and which ones to avoid.

  • Any new advice? I need an agent to rep a pilot film that I shot for a reality TV show. I need an agent to rep my pilot to networks.

  • @SevenPlaygrounds The book is still around. It's under a different name (but looks exactly the same). It's called "THE RIGHT AGENT". It's $10. I saw it there just recently.

  • "or sleep with someone" lololol

  • Thanks for the help. My theater teacher and her son are both repped by the agency ive sent my resume and headshot to twice. What's your advice on that? How do you think she could help me get into the agency?

  • @neli308 Well here's the deal. Just because you can't get in - doesn't always mean they don't want you. It could be that they have 'your type' already and don't need another.(example: If you were a big overweight black guy, they may already have 3 of 'your type' at the agency. They don't have room for anymore.) So no matter how many times you submit- they won't call you in.

It may be your headshot. (Is it professional?)

If you know 2 people who are rep'd with this agency- have them 'refer' you.

  • A better way to use a referral is to have your friend who is close to the agent you're interested in actually drop your headshot and resume on the agent's desk and vouch for you or even just call on your behalf. That way the referral is validated and the note on the outside is not some b.s.

  • @KlassyKamikaze Yes, but remember- their neck is on the line as well. I never refer my friends unless I knew they were phenomenal. Because if they aren't good, then I also look bad for referring them. So remember, your asking your friend to risk their reputation as well.

  • do that book have anything for wanting to be the next john candy >>>>???

    chris

  • Well the book will have a list of agents who want character types and comedians. So in a sense, 'yes'.

  • good vid...

Now I will know someone who knows someone :P lol

(yup i am talking about YOU lol)

  • very good !! thank you

  • good vid... that would help me if i were in LA lol... maybe in 2 years (God Help) :PPP

  • Thanks for the info, good information.

  • Hey john, I found your video randomly and it's pretty dope ;) You might want to add a note saying that you should always ask first before using someone's name or saying they are an "industry referral." Great vlog! Keep it up!!!!!! xo helenna
