You properly found out by now but you need to download maps true ovia maps from nokia true the usb cable.

im torn between between this phone the nokia 5800 or the nokia 5530,

this fone on carfonewarehouse is £15 pm, 100 min, unlimted txts, dnt no about unlimited net tho!!

5530 on carfonewarehouse is also £15 pm, but 300 mins 300 txts and unlimited net.

OR the 5230 on the cpw site for £12pm, 500 txts 100mins unlimited net but NO WI- FI!!

i would like wi-fi preferbly, please give me advice which i shud get, thank you!

Yup, it came online with one of the updates. It's meant for video calls though, so it's not anywhere near as good as the main camera.

The reason this phone is so great is because it has wifi AS WELL as mobile internet. Most phones only have mobile internet, which isn't always great. Wifi is usually better than mobile internet, but you can access that too.

It runs on a Symbian operating system which means there is a mega load of software to download and install ,lots of free games and useful applications and utilities to install.

It come with a mega 8Gig memory card.

I liked the way you did the review and ur voice OMG you are gifted i totally fell in love with your voice coming to review it was more childish than technical, people who wants to use their phone as toy with eye candy themes and tones its worth watching your review, you are reviewing a smartphone and u didnt really tell what it does instead u were playing songs, showing some funny themes, web browsing with e-bay, you could have talked a bit about its e-mail, speed, performance, build quality etc

as far as themes go you have to hack the viewty (voiding your warranty) to put any downloaded themes on it and then the new themes tend to act like a slide show! (it's that slow), great vid.

As far as I know, Maps loads the images from the web, so you need to be connected unless you have the maps saved somewhere (if that's even possible). And regarding the double tap, the example you showed actually highlighted the positive thing about it: single-tap selects so that you get more menu choices (you had send/edit etc at the bottom).

Home computer (pc's) will never become obsolete because they are creation machines,

Pc's are the main tools use when editing or "hacking" other hardware such as these phones,

Imagine trying to create a webpage with video and games on a phone.

More likely pc's will become part of the home to which everything else is connected......like in my house ;)

I do see your POV though, maybe in a 100 years once we have them plugged into our heads, matrix style.

one question, when i installed "touch piano" i get these buttons that appear on the right hand side of the screen coverning half the piano keys, yet u dont seem to have those buttons. anyway u know how i get rid of em??

Those buttons come with the update v20.0.0.12. It sucks, and it interferes with games as well. It has something to do with flash files, they think everything running on flash requires navigation buttons that you can't turn off!

Not sure have you Mary found solution to your Nokia maps problem, not showing nothing on top of England/Ireland. You don't have maps for those countries on your phone. You have to download maps of England/Ireland to your phone. You need a program called Nokia Map Loader to your PC.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You can sort your photos into folders on your memory card, but the folders won't show up in your gallery.

Ive created folders in my gallery for different subjects but wanted each folder to have a picture to be able to recognise it by "at a glance" rather than hover over the folder to see the title. I wondered if this was possible?

Yup! That's all you do!

And if it comes out tilted the wrong way, you can rotate it in "Edit" mode, save (click "replace original") and you're done!

I discovered 3 days ago that my phone can't read MP4 video so I sent it to Nokia technical support.

And this is Day 4 since it was taken away from me. T_T

Yes, it's like Vista, protecting it's ass from rogue apps. Generally the ones on the main symbian blogs are completely fine, but since they're not direct from Nokia it asks you "are you sure?". It won't break!

You can google it, and it's here on YouTube. My local Nokia Service Centre refused to fix it for me, so I had to do it myself. It's dead easy though.

Yeah, a little hard. I generally tend to tap with my nails, but everyone has their own style! Personally, I don't really like the iPhone's touchscreen because of that - it doesn't react to my nails.

For maps you have to download maps to your own region :) Or you can download it as you browse (quicker to just get them from the computer and transfer to phone, e.g. via memory card)

About four or five days if it's not doing anything too difficult, three if you're on the internet or taking lots of pictures and playing music. It runs out a bit quicker than my last Nokia, but then, it also does a lot more!

About the "double tap" -feature, it's intended, it's like on any other Nokia phone, you first have to select your target, THEN you open it.

Its a known problem with the speaker you must take it to the nearest nokia service center.They have done a bad assembly of the speaker...

To elaborate on this: The fix is rather simple, but takes disassembling the front cover to realign the speaker. It is about a 5-10minute fix at your local service center. :)

to get nokia maps to work you have to either assign an access point via the options menu first to automatic download the actual maps or use nokia maps loader (on your pc) to download the maps to you phone with your computer. If you dont do either of those the map will stay blank when zooming in (like yours is doing). anyway nice review, would have liked some more positives though. Trying to control myself to wait for the n97....

The N97 looks lovely, but I wouldn't want a flip out keyboard myself... There are a lot of positives about this phone, but I suppose I don't notice them because I just expect that. The few little things that bothered people aren't as big a deal as they seem, just they get talked about more.

nice review, and the reason u hear less volume from the ear speaker during call is maybe due to the screen protector, if u cut a space for the ear speaker it may solve the problem and i want to know where is ur 5800 made? i mean made in china?waiting for ur reply

There is a little hole for the speaker. It sort of comes and goes in volume.

I don't know where it was made. I just checked the box and the book and it just says Nokia Finland, stuff about US patents and the book is in Indonesian, English and Chinese. Make what you will of that!
