Plus another thing those big cameras have over 500 dollar cameras....interchangeable lenses. Which lenses can cost as much as the camera itself, but they can make a big difference between getting up close to something with 14x zoom and having a 20x zoom with range extender. Though the more glass you add in, the more light you need. But if you have a big enough CCD chip, it don't need as much light.

I don't see why they carry those huge cameras that cost a few grand when you can get one for 500 bucks that takes 1080p video, fits in the palm of your hand, records for hours on end before you run out of battery or hard drive space, and can connect to an external microphone.
@supersnot4 Video quality is way superior to anything those 500 dollar cameras can do. There is reason why professionals use 5,000 dollar cameras on up instead of consumer camera equipment. Even the 5,000 dollar camera doesn't cut it anymore with HD stuff out there.
Also, I know from experience that those little cameras are hard as can be to hold still. Those huge cameras are heavy and they are easier to hold still.

I just bought a new camera for $300 that fits in the palm of my hand, takes 1080p, 720p (30 and 60fps), 960p (4:3 aspect ratio), and DVD quality videos. It's also waterproof to 180feet, and without the waterproof cover can record the sound of a conversation in 70mph winds.
@supersnot4 I work in television, there is a major difference between a 500 dollar camera and a 5,000 dollar camera. It may seem like there isn't much difference beside price, but let me tell you there is. The 500 dollar camera's are great for the normal person. I personally have a little camcorder since I can't afford a camera I want (at the min. I want a Canon XL2).

@akrackenberger I also used to work in "the biz" so to speak (TSN Discovery) akrack is right, there is absolutely no similarities on how they operate...for example some of those shoulder mount ENG cameras can set you back as much $30,000 (a rough idea on a Betacam back when I was working) and the picture was amazing with none of the defects seen in todays cameras (unless you spend lots) ...Basically you can't even try and compare the footage shot with a $15,000-$30,000 camera.....

@angusandleigh I really wish I could afford a nice camera. Even an old Beta cam camera would be nice, My station has went from Digital S (crappy format) to now we use DV CAM (still crappy, but not as bad as Digital s). We do have one P2 camera that the two one man bands use. I can hold steady a 30 pound camera better then my little camcorder. I also wish I got to shoot, but for now I work in production.
@akrackenberger I ended up working in the audio end of things after school, but we had a few Betacams and suites (Mohawk College Hamilton) and yeah they were heavy, but I have slightly shaky hands myself, but the weight nice because it was too much for a little bit of 'twitch' to move...As I was leaving there we were just installing either DVCAM or DVCPRO (I can't remember as this was back in '99-2000) Always wanted a Betacam, but it was worth about what I paid in tuition LOL

Also 1080p is just a resolution, not colour quality, light balance (contrast) video noise, etc. You can have a 1080p picture with only say 32bit or less colour, horrible contrast etc.

That $300 camera you bought I'm sure is fine for what you do with it, but what I was trying to get across is that you cannot compare the two. The shoulder mount one I have at home (it's a few years old now and using broadcast grade S-VHS) would make you look twice to believe what kind of video it is capable of. Sure maybe the resolution....

@angusandleigh that's the difference is my camera is not a normal handheld camera. It doesn't even have an LCD screen (yet), and yes, it has been proven to survive a fall at 100mph. I'm just saying that for what these guys are doing, they should not have to spend $5,000 on a camera. of course it's not their money, but you get what I'm saying. I can see though that these might be older cameras, just when 1080p came out.

@daddytech fyi its called a windsock not a muffler. ive suggested to dave to tape a small piece of toilet paper or some kind of thin napkin to the mic on his camera but he never did it, he responded and said it will work but i've never seen it done.
@CptGemini I know what it's actually called, i was being funny, i have them on all my mics too but not on my flip which is what i use most. typically i just don't shoot much on windy days at all so i'm good on that count. hadn't heard the toilet paper thing. wouldn't imagine it staying on there very well though

@daddytech it would have to be a fairly thin sheet, if you have some of those cotton balls you can easily unroll that would be much better since you won't have to worry about tearing it up since you can just unroll on it. if i could afford a good camera to record with id be trying it out myself but all ive got to record with is my android lol
@CptGemini Don't knock the androids, I also have an android phone and mine does a really good job for what it is, the ONLY complaint i have is with the mic on it but the last few videos i have recorded and posted on my channel are with my Sprint Evo 4G and for what it is it does a really great job, and it's full HD so no complaints at all with mine, look at my channel. if you don't believe me, the ones i have posted from my camera all say uploaded from my android Phone in the description
@daddytech i have the 1st gen android, the video recording on it is good but not that great. ive got a little clip that i posted last week from in fact up on my channel
@CptGemini that's the down side of the 1st gen phones unfortunately if you aren't with sprint the good stuff can only come from a Droid X or Incredible both of those are verizon phones.

I'm just saying that for what these guys are doing, they should not have to spend $5,000 on a camera. of course it's not their money, but you get what I'm saying. I can see though that these might be older cameras, just when 1080p came out.

Guys, look at the comment that 'davidsfarmdoc' posted on my channel. If you look at davidsfarmdoc channel you'll see a video explaning how they use watermarks all over the DVD for piracy reasons. He's thousands in debt to ex landlords ,and uses both names Jason Nassr and Jason King,depending on who he owes money to.He also has multiple ids on here to abuse people..Jesusiscoco,Sucklauriesmom,and he aso uses extenttv and smashtvcanada,but he tries to keep them last two clean. THis movie cost over sixty thousand,and he isnt making anywhere near that amount because nobody likes him

maybe you should get one of them muflers for your mic on your camera too bloke like the one they have to keep it all warm and cozy in the cold air. lol GLobal TV is truely a global company, they are world wide just like CNN or BBC, wondering what thier real intent was there if it was just bullshit shooting or if they were really after the Juicy stuff that goes on there like the jumping and damage to vehicles and such.

@daddytech fyi its called a windsock not a muffler. ive suggested to dave to tape a small piece of toilet paper or some kind of thin napkin to the mic on his camera but he never did it, he responded and said it will work but i've never seen it done.

@CptGemini I know what it's actually called, i was being funny, i have them on all my mics too but not on my flip which is what i use most. typically i just don't shoot much on windy days at all so i'm good on that count. hadn't heard the toilet paper thing. wouldn't imagine it staying on there very well though

@daddytech it would have to be a fairly thin sheet, if you have some of those cotton balls you can easily unroll that would be much better since you won't have to worry about tearing it up since you can just unroll on it. if i could afford a good camera to record with id be trying it out myself but all ive got to record with is my android lol

@CptGemini Don't knock the androids, I also have an android phone and mine does a really good job for what it is, the ONLY complaint i have is with the mic on it but the last few videos i have recorded and posted on my channel are with my Sprint Evo 4G and for what it is it does a really great job, and it's full HD so no complaints at all with mine, look at my channel. if you don't believe me, the ones i have posted from my camera all say uploaded from my android Phone in the description
