Very uncompromising movie. I think I remember that after that scene, he goes celebrating by raping "his" girl. After another, less satisfying event, he releases his negative pressure by, well, also raping "his" girl.
Best scene to me was when he started shooting down the streets at everyone and then throws the gun away and delivers himself, screaming "No ammo left!"
Great, depressing, partly 'funny' movie. Typical Takashi Miike and a great one.
I like bizarre surreal and gory flicks (doesnt HAVE to be gory, but i like it artsy)
Ive seen Audition, Dead Or Alive 1,2,3, Gozu, Izo, Happiness Of The Katikuris, Ichi The Killer, Visitor Q, Imprint, Sukiyaki Western Django, One Missed Call.
What should I watch Next? I dont like boring gangster flicks like Sonatine (i know its not miike just giving example) but if it is signiture Miike style i might like more)
the bit where he walks down the road covered in blood was filmed by a hidden camera infront of an unsuspecting live public. the approach was used by miike in a couple of other films of his. it goes to show how people just dont wanna geyt involved, tho to be honest, id prob react in the same way

I wonder what would happen if Rikuo Ishimatsu (the crazy yakuza in this movie) met The Joker?

This movie is very cold... I just saw it on Netflix. It's... Truly the most gruesome gangster I've ever seen. Also one of the best!

I found the scene where he holds off the Japanese police with two pistols even though the Japanese police are heavilly armoured hahahahah.
In the USA, this guy would already be killed by a sniper once he started shooting at the cops.

I love how it has that grainy 80's look to it.

I love these guerrilla extirior shots Miike does. Sometimes i wonder how real pedestrians react to seeing a man covered in blood.
In busy streets in tokyo, you can't get a permit to close down a street.
So they shoot actors walking around, sometimes with hidden cameras or shooting using a long lens.
Great stuff.
