  • Lots of respect for this guy

  • @jdp20eliz i hope one day ill be like these men im 14 i want too join the marines

  • @bman830 I* I'll* I'm* I* to* Marines*

    and you forgot a period.

  • Medics would literally just ignore the withering gunfire around them & just try to save as many men as possible shots missing them by inches & yet they would just keep going from one guy to the next...

  • I visited Normandy 3 months ago, we should never forget the men who fought and died in Normandy. We in the Netherlands will never forget! Thank you America!

  • @jdp201eliz Cherish them, they are going fast. You are right please remember this guys, they really did something great. They were what made our country united, and sadly these values our vanishing quickly with the way kids grow up these days.

  • @jdp201eliz He was the best man ever, most mild mannered marine you would ever come across, I love and miss him so much, He was like my dad as my "stepfather" was a lawyer and my grandpa knocked him out when he was treating me and mom and sister like shit. My grandfathers army friend Vito had a brother and he flew combat missions in the pacific. I believe on Peleliu he was shot down and they tortured him and put his head on a pike. My Grandpa was about 17 when he joined up in 1942.

  • @jdp201eliz My grandfather passed away in 2007, he was a Master Sergeant serving in the Pacific with the 5th marine. He was my best friend and now he is gone, I love you grandpa you were my hero. They were truly the greatest generation and I miss him so much

  • No I get what you mean, his talking is hard to understand.. I was not calling you an idiot. It is amazing he survived dog beach, because almost no one made it to the seawall without getting hit once.

  • God or not, evil comes naturally with man, some have more than others, but that is not something that god or anyone else can control. Those man died to show that if we can´t control evil, we can erase it.

  • WTF I was just watching meet the medic and this came up!

  • my grandad was in the military in ww2 hes 96 hes having a good life the good memories now wasnt that loving on june 6th 1944,

  • I like Beethoven, but this would be so much better if you hadn't put that stupid music in.

  • @gumdo666 His local newspaper made the film,he had no say in it..Big chance he's never watched this film because he never talks about it and micky mouse things like that don't bother him

  • Wow this is a true war hero. None of our soldiers have half the balls like this guy. Wars are fought over oil and greed nowadays and mean nothing. Every soldier killed by a road side bomb I just shake my head and think and why did he die!

  • Damn heroes the most of them where inexsperinced soldiers just privates and privates 1st class all blown away in there boat or on the beach most did not even got a change to shoot there boat opened and they had to ran out fast as they can and take cover. God bless them

  • Hitler would jerk off to this

  • still a hero!! What makes people think that the muslim murders of 9-11 shouldnt be called such...Killers!! you support the anti-blasphemy law,by not agreeing with this, and you insult everything a man like this went thru, people sure werent shaking the hands of the German Americans during WWII, HERE IN AMERICA, SO WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO KISS MUSLIM ASS? put up a mosque at ground zero and see how long it wouldav lasted!!

  • and he still believes in a god, lol uberfail.

  • @djjmria Please be open-minded and consider the fact that satan has influence over your mind. The sooner you can come to terms with this reality, the sooner you can break free from your current life that you have no peace of mind in.

  • @djjmria If you had half the balls he did then you wouldn't mock him.

  • @djjmria That is where you fail

  • @DookieBootyification yeah a true believer! No facts, just fairy tales. Keep on wasting your life please i don't care and god is dead as a maggot sorry.

  • @djjmria what a loser. one day you will believe you piece of crap. either believe in God now, or you definitely will when your sorry ass is dead. you aint fit to lick this heroes shoes. i'd truly like to whip your ass punk

  • @bassinger55 for your sake there better be no god, because if i see him in the aftelife i kill him with my spirit power

  • @djjmria whenever i see a comment like this it makes me think about how much crazy people there are in the world

  • Comment removed

  • @djjmria He earned his right to "believe in a God",theres NO "uberfail" about this man.As a matter of Fact,he might be the most modest person alive on earth today,at least he's in the top ten.I grew up around many men who were WWII Vets, many of them talked about what went on around me,because I was so young, many times I heard hushed tones, not once did I hear Uncle Walter speak of what happened,I didn't even know until my mother emailed me this film

  • three people lick hitlers balls..........and mine two

  • May God Bless your soul and thank u for serving our wonderful country

  • If it weren't for these men idk were we will all be at.... Thank you sir for fighting for our country and keeping us same from evil.

  • I am not joking when i say this but my grandpa was at Pearl Harbor and D-Day and the kora war and hes still alive today

  • Can you imagine these old timer heroes going over to fight a world war at 18 years old.... the things they must have seenn... to come back and see in this generation a bunch of white homeboys with their pants sagging down and sideways hats... my God. BLESS YOU WW2 VETS. Could you imagine life today if it werent for the men who fought? EVERYONE owes these guys

  • Respect for the heroes during the second world war (not germans)

  • @eliasyoocoolman DUDE SHUT UP!!!!!!!! ALL MEN AND WOMEN ARE EQUEL!!!!!!! RESPECT ALL WHO HAVE SERVED!!!!!!!! GERMANS, AMERICANS, THERE ALL PEAOPLE, THEY ALL HAVE FAMILIES, FRIENDS, LOVED ONES!!!!!! JUST A DIFFERENT UNIFORM!!!!!!! EVERYONE WHO SERVED THEIR COUNTRY IS A HEROE AND SHOULDNT BE SHUNED BECAUSE THEY WERE ON A DIFFERENT SIDE!!!! SO SHUT UP AND RESPECT THEM ALL!!!!!!

  • @DeadlyXDangles I commend you for saying that.

  • @eliasyoocoolman Germans faught because they were ordered to. Americans fought because they were ordered to. They were all soldiers and were all people. Just keep that in mind. They were all PEOPLE.

  • germans fought because they were fucking retarted and believed hitler. fuck germans man, the killed most of my family in ww2, maybe even in ww1 :s

  • @djjmria Wow as a patriotic American I am going to have to disagree with you and tell you that you're wrong to believe that. The average German soldier was a 18 year old draftee who had no desire to partake in or knowledge of what Hitler was doing. He was just fulfilling his duty to his beleaguered country. By the end of the war, Hitler was sending young boys and 70 year old men to protect "The Fatherland"

  • @djjmria Think before you speak... Not all Germans had the same views as Hitler. Keep in mind some Germans even tried to assassinate Hitler.

  • @tk075 Also keep in mind that a lot of Germans were forced to become Nazis.

  • @RANGERDAWG290 Yep. That crazy Hitler.

  • @djjmria You sir are an idiot.

  • @eliasyoocoolman fucking fartbag troll

  • Musics stupid but interesting and sad.

  • God Bless you thanks for sharing

  • Salute.

  • this vid looks like the museum from halo 3 vids

    hail to D-day heros.

  • i cried

  • Salute to all soldiers who serve in WW2.

  • I served 5 years in the british army royal infantry guards 2nd battalion 5 rifles, i have done 2 tours in Afghanistan and 1 tour in Iraq and everytime i watch these videos of old vetrans i see myself in years to come having to re-live the nightmares we faced everyday, i have been shot at i have wet my trousers through fear and fear that i have never felt before, but looking at that war on that day that this guy saw was on a massive scale, and i can relate to that god bless him and all troops!!

  • Comment removed

  • whats up with the crap music, it would have been not to add any

  • I hope my translation helped

  • I can barely understand what's he is saying, can you close caption it, or transcript the whole thing by your ownself idk.

  • @GSpeedEmotion At the end he is basically saying that no one can ever convince him that those boys died because god wanted them to. The things he must of saw.. he landed on Dog Green and survived. I forgot what company he was is in, might be Dog company, 116th RCT or a later wave considering he was on an American LCVP.

  • @TecDiver05 i understand english very well and i'm not an idiot i can process what are the meaning of the words he's saying. The thing is that old people it's hard to understand what they are saying because their speech impediments not to mention the ones that got an accent like this man has.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • They came and gave their lives because they believed that our freedom was worth it.

Thought provoking and truely humbling. Lets pray that we should never forget their sacrafice. Thank you.

  • God Bless America and God Bless the veterans! we are the greatest country in the world thanks to them!

  • @UNDERTAKER890 the greatest? hmmmmm doesn't seem to be very well liked globally though.

  • This is great! Every American should watch this... Thanks so much for filming and posting.

  • Thank your First Sergeant, Bless you. Hooah!

  • Never take freedom for granted.

  • powerful stuff man... i can't even imagine going through something like that. hopefully nobody will ever again

  • Hard to imagine what they've been through... I mean seeing your friends die right infront of you both quick and slowly and you can't do a shit about i. You have to carry those memories for the rest of your lives. I feel a great sympathy with these men and They'll have my respect for the rest of my life.

  • it would be terrible to serve in that war

couldn't imagine the physological effects after all said and done

  • these men.....heroes...they gave their lives...they gave it their all...and today..we should honor them all...*salute*

  • so sad...and to think that the germans didnt even know we were coming there..cant imagine the numbers of dead we would have had, with them knowing we were coming

  • @ThaNedster828 techinally they kind of knew. hitler was convinced the invasion was coming farthar north. but many of the german commanders made the defenses on omaha stronger because they were sure the invasion would come right there.

  • they gave there lives so we cud live

  • @ballygeale1 Not so we can live...but so we can live free.

  • My dad was a medic and served during the Battle of the Bulge. His brother ( a close uncle of mine) , was with the 115th Regt, 29th Infantry Div. landed in the second wave at Bloody Omaha. He and his men made it to the top but were met by German snipers near St Laurent where he was severely wounded.. They were indeed the 'Greatest Generation"!

  • *Salute*

  • as long as there is man, there will be wars. it's a fact. it's the way we are

  • thats true.

  • your so wrong,,as long as there is religion there will be fear,,as long as there is fear there will be wicked men who will rise to power on the waves of paranoia and fear,,as long as people follow leaders like sheep following a shepherd there will be war,,war is not the idea of the common man but the creation of kings tsars emperors preidents ,,you get the point,,war is engineered ,its not the way we are,,its the fantasies of the few inflicted on the masses,,programmed murderers.simple as that.

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 We have more potential If we worked together then we could achieve something other than that i don't think we will ever go to another planet or system...

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 i forgot who quoted that

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 And as long as there is war, there are heroes.

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 so true....makes me think somtimes...did god want us to be this way?

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 your mind is poisoned

  • Although im scottish I understand the americans better :L

  • Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven

  • Now thats a real medic

whats the title of the 1st song btw? its spine chilling

  • in the war there is no runner up

i dont know who quote this one

  • who ever made war is stupid

  • We all made war.

  • This was sold as "The war to end all wars." America's greatest generation of its most sacrificing & heroic citizens fought & died in that vain effort. It turned a failed depression ridden economy into a powerful machine of military based profit. Since then, that corporate structure has and continues to invent wars to maintain their ceaseless greed. Rather than reinvest in peaceful but less profitable endeavors, they measure gains in black ink & losses in red blood. They have the morals of Satan.

  • Very true

  • One word springs to mind.... HEROES....

    God bless the fallen........

  • @TherymasterWidnes You are so right..

  • @TherymasterWidnes right i miss my grandfather and uncle reachy

  • @TherymasterWidnes meatbags .... we all day .... better earlier to save time

  • I love medics

  • beans, your grandfather was just doing what he was ordered to do, just like the americans, no one wanted to be there

  • I'm just sitting here thinking about how much shit I'm going to get for this: My grandfather was stationed in one of those bunkers and fed ammo to the machine gun during the battle. He told me that he could not even look at what was going on outside and that the other men in the bunker with were screaming things like, "TAKE IT, YOU FUCKIN AMERICAN PIG!". After the Americans had gotten past the wire, he and the others ran outside. He still dosen't know what happened to them. He didn't look back.

  • Beans, anyone who gives you shit is an idiot.

both sides were full of young men who didn't really know why they were there. For many of them it wasn't about right, wrong, freedom, invasions and the like, they were there, they were stuck doing that task and it was about them, staying alive, and the man next to them, no matter what side they were on.

  • chill dude, relax, your grandpa was a hero too, he was defending what he believed was right, he didnt enjoy it, he didnt hate the soldiers he killed and neither he was a coward, dude, war is hell, my family on my mother's side have been in wars for about 60 years in a roll, I know what you're trough...

  • no i think that he was forced to think about it they were nazis

  • tell me more, i'm interested

  • True heroes. What, eminem? It was really hard living in a trailer park was it? Try running at a machine gun nest, supported by marksmen, fuck all cover, and not getting millions of $ for making it out alive but being told to stick around for a year.

no personal grudge against eminem; there's thousands who represent that part of society i'd rather hear less about. paris hilton, 50 cent, etc

  • some of them 2 years. if they were alive that long...

  • lambs to the slaughter thanks to the bastard/s who issued the order to even set a foot on omaha beach..those guys did not stand a chance, it was pure suicide..even the german gunner that wiped them out stated it was so easy..the gun stuck to his hand as it was THAT HOT!!!!! no cover,no place to hide, just caught out in the open while they were CUT IN HALF!!!! it was a fuckin disgrace and should never have been ordered..an air strike would have helped those poor guys..officers minus guts & brain

  • Actually, had the assault not been screwed up by the weather and intelligence, things would probably have turned up better. The plan was well-designed and would have worked better had it gone accordingly. And there were air strikes, but the bombers missed most of their targets because they were afraid of hitting allied troops, the same with off-shore artillery.

  • air strikes and bombardments DID occur b/c at that time, the allies had air supremacy; its just that the krauts were so well dug in, that IS why it was called the ATLANTIC WALL. the only was was the way it was done, which is why they are heroes.

  • if I remember correctly from a History Channel presentation, an air strike was ordered on that beach head, the flying fortress's thought they knocked out most of the defenses.

  • they did get airstrikes, naval bombing, everything they had. In the end, it was too hard, Rommel enforced it. He was a sick son of abitch, he pout everything.

  • you're an idiot and clearly dont know what you're talking about. There were bombing campaigns prior to the landing and unfortunately the bombers missed most of their targets. And the Allied forces did a great job of misleading the Germans into thinking the landing was at the shortest distance across the channel. The invasion of Europe had to come at a high price but it needed to be done. The Germans had a severe advantage having the position on the bluffs. Get your facts straight.

  • it is you that is the idiot...as the man said, the biggest part of the omaha beach landings were wiped out on the spot..poor young guys sent to their deaths on what was a suicide mission..those nazi gunners must have thought all their birthdays had come at once...it was like a rifle range at a fair ground only with machine gun bullets to scythe their way through those poor soldiers that set foot on the beach..many never even got that far..!!! the majority of those guys died needlessly...

  • Also americas ships didn't get close enough because they were frightened about losing there ships. there boast guns fell short. the same with there DD tanks ,let them out to far

  • I wish I could have talked to my grandpa more about his experience on Omaha, what wave he was in and how the hell he got out alive. All he ever told me was what they were doing, never stories about what actually happened. I always wanted to, but then part of me always thought, "Man, he doesn't want to talk about it. Just back off." I've never been the type to try and force someone to talk about something.

And now I'll never be able to ask him. RIP, Grandpa.

  • Long Live soldeirs !!!!

your grand pa will definately be a great soldier..

  • My grandpa was the forth wave. He never did talk about his landings in Omaha, because it was that terrible to think about.

  • One of the main things to do before i die is see the omaha burials x

  • me too

  • what a hero! god bless him and bless all those who died. last year when i was 13 i went to normandy on a school trip and we walked on omaha beach in silence, the whole class of 12 and 13 yr olds. i dont think weve ever been so respectfull. we also went to see the graveyard, and we saw the Ryan graves. i was blown away by how many lost their lives!bless them all.

    Annabelle from England.

  • You're a good kid, Annabelle. There's not enough kids your age who know and appreciate what men like these do.

I don't know if you've seen it, but if you appreciate this, you will love the movie, Saving Private Ryan.

  • thankyou =] these are the real heroes of this world, people idolise rappers or whoever, but it's these people who really did something for us. i and my family and friends to this day even though some of us weren't alive in the war, are still VERY grateful for what the americans did for us british. i'd be speaking german if it weren't for the 'yanks' i've never been to america, but i hope to someday.

i have seen saving private ryan, it was amazing! very moving.

    thankyou =]

  • I hope you keep that mindset the rest of your life. You're right. People think heroes are the ones you find in movies and the famous, flashy people. Maybe in movies, but in real life, it's men like these, who don't get the spotlight, who are the true world heroes. And heroes aren't just a one-man army, they consist of thousands with one cause in mind... Freedom for all.

And America is beautiful. We got some snobs here, but it is a wonderful country. :)

  • Don't be too hard on the French, CHunter. They suffered a lot under the Germans. I went to Normandy 5 years ago and each French person I met there was VERY grateful for what we did for them. Caen and St. Lo lost 20k civilians each in the fighting and they are still grateful...

Normandy was, and is, a beach resort, but it is hard to go to any of the landing beaches and not find touching memorials to the war. Yet returning to life as normal is what the young men were fighting for on D-Day.

  • And to think that the French had the NERVE to build houses on that beach. Frikin HOUSES!

  • Man what this guy said was the truth. Every bit.....

  • Omaha Beach... The name just sends shivers up my spine. To think of all the death and destructions that occurred there brings a tear to my eye. I would consider Omaha Beach as a memorial... A memorial to all thise guys who died there, allies or axis, to save what they strongly believe in. The victory at Omaha shows just how warfare can leave only destruction in its wake. However, it also can bring people together and make them heroes...

God Bless America and all those who died on D-Day!

  • God bless U.K, America and Canada

    P.S Im from the UK

  • I send my prayers to you and your family, thankyou

  • just sends shivers down your spine im a service man now but we face nothing compaired to this

  • The medics were one of the bravest staying in the middle of fir mann those men are life savers and heroes

  • These men literaly saved the world.

  • This the best example of how ordinary people can do extraordinary things and be a hero.

God bless allied soldiers of WWII

  • makes you think...doesn't it

  • I have no words...

    Thank you sir !!

  • I am from Germany and i'm not a nazi i fucking hate the nazis and hitler

God bless you Sergeant you're a hero !

  • I am dying to go to france and germany i want to see the reichstag and i want to see the beaches the pill boxes every place that was involved in the war

  • thats one of my life goals as well.

  • most pillboxes arent there on most of the coast

  • god bless u, sire!

be part the band of brothers!

  • i am from greece and i am a nazi but my grandpa fight against nazi in many battles he was in the second greek spartan battalion he fight in ALBANIA in CRETE in EL ALAMEIN WITH THE BRITISH FORCES IN RIMINI AND IN UTAH HE KILL he die in 2004 after the olympics he used to say that war is a bloody commedy with many fools and braves:john from sparta

  • 1. WTF is your problem?

    2. Why are you a Nazi? Do you know that that means?

    3. Are you against Jews?

    4. Can you speak proper english?

  • my grand-grand father was in war for britain.he got shot by a sniper in his chest.that sniper was a pro.amateurs hit the head, pro hit the heart.he got killed in El Alamein during the germans counter attack.there were snips too.he was only 24 years old.hes my hero.

  • Great vid. I love to here the men who were there speak. They rarely get heard because they are so humble - and because it's the media folks, who are usually to chicken shit to fight, that speak the loudest afterwards. God bless you, Sir!

  • Walter Dickens is my grandfather and my hero. Out of respect please do not post profanity, "lols" or anything of that nature. He is one of the finest men you or I will ever have the pleasure of knowing or just seeing on youtube. I am so proud of him, all my great uncles and all the soilders they served with during WWII. FYI he was not drafted. He and his brothers volunteered their lives to protect their family and country. Thank you to those of with heartfelt responses. It means so much!

  • Amen brother!

  • Poor man

Having to live with those memories

    Truely a hero

  • God damn...most WWII vets dont think of themselves as heroes...but god dammit they are, i couldnt imagine actually doing what they did at Normandy, Iwojima, etc...

  • Y do people think dat german solidiers are bad??? its hitler that was bad not da solidiers...sure some were but not all.

  • yeah. Hitler, his actual FOLLOWERS, and select soldiers were actually bad. A lot of German soldiers werent even Nazis, they were just like our soldiers fighting. The Germans had a good advantage at Normandy and really fucked us up, making some people see the German soldiers as bad guys. But fuck...thats what war is.

  • A lot of Germans liked america at that time but its war you gotta do what you gotta do to live and see your family afterwards

  • my grandfather was a werchmant for the germans on d-day he said you bastards would keep comeing off those boat after he shot tones of you guys till this day he says when america gets in a war accpect HELL cuz these boys wont give up a inch

  • seems like saving private ryan remade the battle pretty damn good according to this guy

  • why are they the best soldiers ?lol

  • you fucking nazi i hope you feel the pain of the millions of people put to death by hitler

  • Your arguments are ignorant..he could be referring to the Wehrmacht...not the Schutzstaffel. The Wehrmacht are just like are army. I love the Wehrmacht and I also love the USA Army...they both have great courage and honor. To me it's not about praising Hitler. Most of the Wehrmacht didn't even believe in his shit.

  • im not ignorant, i just took his comment the wrong way, spaz.

  • yea fuck you. this is america bitch.

  • Balls of steel.

  • my granpas brother was killed in d-day. my granpa said it was hell

  • God bless you and your comrades Sir. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice.

  • let these people have a simple life bless them. they could have just said no im not going to battle im gonna stay home and watch tv. instead they went out to fight.these people didnt even haft to join the army. we should thank them.

  • well actually im pretty sure lots of soldiers were drafted into world war II,but still, if it werent for men like this guy right here, america would be in much worse condition than it already is.

  • I feel extremely bad for him.. he must have seen some horrific things. But we must respect those brave men to the max.

Some movies' comments should never involve "lol" or "XD", and this is definately one of them

I hope this man lives the rest of his life well, he have deserved a long and peaceful life

  • god bless that man

  • This man is an american hero. God Bless him and his generation. If it wasent men like this we may have been speaking German.

  • But will we be speaking Arabic , or , Farsi within 100 years?

    Maintain , the Good Fight.
