i can see the point of view of useless drill..but any1 that's gone to multiple goalie camps and has watched different game footage and foot movements this drill can actually help u in foot quickness...from quick 2 on 1s quick passes you watch the goalies feet he generally t-pushes quickly and is set then makes a nice easy save...1 of the halak highlights I watched sticks to my mind
What a useless drill. Can't believe anyone is doing this. T-pushes are for covering far areas quicker than shuffling. Only thing this can do is encourage bad technique for when the t-push is needed
Thats the dumbest thing i've ever read... you practice as you play. what sense is there in purposely practicing a movement incorrectly? a T-push is a longer movement for moving across the top of the crease in one push... practice it that way. If you're practicing your slower controlled movements, practice a shuffle.. thats what its for.
i'm sure this would burn your legs, and he is doing it well.. problem is, why on earth is he doing it?
@HDave30 i had the same reaction as you at first, but i think that drill helps make ur legs stronger for when you do a single long t push. im rly not sure...
Everyone is being very critical of what he is doing...most of things you being teached in Ice Hockey Goalie drills aren't always used in game, it teaches techniques, flexibility and balance at the same time. If you are saying that your coach teaches more usefull stuff in games for drill, well i'm sorry your coach has poor coaching skills.
@powerhouse99able it's a display of his energy and explosiveness, by the way a normal person would not be able to do that (trust me). You have to balance at the same time as keep going the right way as well as that burns legs BADLY. +1 to the good sir who was performing it so well.
Classic example of somebody who doesn't know what they're doing formulating a "drill."
