dude SteveDangle is awesome. He is the voice of hockey on youtube. And look at your channel. Wow that success! So stop trying to act like a dick. do that when your 80 sitting and drinking beer outside in New York, pleading for money from people. GO STEVE DANGLE~!!!!!!
I was there too Steve. Kinda got a little dissapointed after we were loosing 2 - 0 right away, but I actually found it to be a good game, dispite the loss.
man did the Leafs do good in the second (and 3rd too) stajan gets interviewed after gettting nailed and the gets implicated in a goal - van ryn is fine after getting nailed and shattering glass and scores after and Shenn was just a MONSTER! haha
Since the '05 lockout 3 goalies have been pulled for SO's, all 3 losing the game, and making, A COMBINED, 1 for 9 saves. Tell me, what coach in their right mind would make this move.
Do you ever watch that prime time sports show with Bob McClown? Anyway the show is kinda boring, but he did write a great book about hockey. Best hockey book I've ever read. I highly recommend it!
Conclusion : When there are no golies on the Leafs net. The golies stats stop to decrease because you can't give those bad stats to any golie. The moral of the golies are better, so they become the best of NHL because of stress removal and there are no need for penalties shot tiebraker anymore. Mr.Wilson you are coaching the Leafs : please remove your goalies from the net during shoutouts. You will make everybody happy, players, fans, analysts including the other team' players.
Now follow the argument : as Leafs are badlucky most of the time, it will become uneusefull to flip a coin. Mr. Wilson will just have to remove the goaler from the net each penalty shot tiebraker. The fans will become suddenly happier because they won't accuse any goalie to be incompetent they will say : it's because there are no golies on the net. The moral of the goalers will become better and they will goal more relax and raise their quality of at least 35% so they will become the best! LOL
So if Joseph and Toskala are 54% bad, when you filp a coin you have 50% chances to make a mistage. By flipping a coin Mr. Wilson will obtain a better performance of 4% because 50% is 4% better than 54%. So he must stick on his bad decision until both goalies are equals because when you end flipping a coin nobody will accuse Wilson of a bad decision because the statistic says equal chances. So all the fans will say : it's bad luck.
According to Wilson, Joseph had been scored on 28 per cent of the time in penalty shots while Toskala had been beaten with 54 per cent of the attempts against him. Good. So now Joseph more than 28% and Toskala 54. By keeping this decision if each time Joseph fails, at the end both statistics will become equally as bad. So he will be able to flip a coin.
HELL YES DUDE THAT WAS THE QUOTE I PICKED!!! WOOOOO I FEEL LIKE A TOTAL WINNER. SHARKS WIN 2 OT/SO GAMES IN A ROW AND MY QUOTE WAS PICKED LOLOLOL. and to make this about hockey, you have to remember Vesa Toskala was on the team that was literally THE WORST team in the shootout and he was getting about even time if not more time than nabokov. AND... the coach of that team: Ron Wilson. I completely agreed with the descision to pull vesa because he was literally THE WORST shootout goalie in the NHL
yo man ur so awesome im glad you actually know the perspectives of the game its nice to finally have someone who knows what there talking bout keep it up man
lmao yea i was at the game 2 it was my first time sitting in the platinum section, i was 8 rows for the ice, sooo sick great seats, n i got them free but they were originally 218$ bucks lmao
ooh... i watched that game to see if u were gonna be on tv..u werent...but TSN got a hilarious shot of the leafs bench of jason blake digging for gold...HAHAH i'll put it up on youtube. also, in my video response, another goal against CuJo....sort of a flashback
Last year Craig MacTavish switched goalies before the shootout, I think Ty Conklin was one of the goalies involved. Anyways the one who got pulled in Edmonton was PISSED. Last night Toskala looked all right with the decision, he even took his helmet off on the bench. When goalies are mad they leave the lid on. I was impressed with him for swallowing his pride.
Well it was agreed to before the game and they both seemed to be cool with it, which is good. What isn't good, is that of all the times I've heard of it being used, it's never worked.
Yeah, they come in cold, and it shows. The Anaheim players knew that, and they tested him with quick shots. Hindsight is 20/20, but I wouldn't try it again. Toskala just needs more practice.
i was at this game, 1st period Anaheim was all over the leafs, 2nd and 3rd period leafs were destroying the ducks.the shots were 37 for leafs and 21 for ducks. but i dont care i'am a habs fan
that was a bad game i agree. and joseph was only in shootouts during practise, not a game, not a game, but practise. i dont think it was a good move, even though cujo is better in the shootout. oh and, i wanted my mighty ducks quote in the video T.T
lol lonny bohonos. what ever happened to that guy. we could use him. and berezin. and even steve thomas...*sob.
i was stunned when cujo went in net...had no idea wat ronny was thinking. however you cant overlook the simple fact that both leaf shooters MISSED the net. thats...awful. klumein's move is already old and kabby was aiming for the protective netting above the glass.
but steve, you cant say thats the reason they lost, may have been or may not have been, you cant say, but after that i dont think ron wilson will pull that stunt again, we all make mistakes, and i guess it doesnt matter if were rebuilding
One thing I noticed was Luke Schenn...I mean really noticed. The past few games he played well, but looked physically outmatched and never really stood out IMO. Last night he was hitting everything in sight, and I think he was trying to start a fight with Corey Perry. He looked like he was back in Kelowna.
Haha, I essentially stayed up with you and worked on my 2 essays lol. The Leafs totally deserved to win that game. I understand why RW switched the goalies considering the stats, but I would've stuck with Vesa instead of a cold CuJo.
I think Atlanta has put in Lehtonen over Hedburg in the shootout and lost, and Edmonton back in 05-06 used Mike Morrison in the shootout when he's been sitting all game, no idea the sucess of it thought but I know Lehtonen lost
I read your post about Calgary flames fans compared to the leafs fans...although, i've never been able to go to a leafs game, but from what i see on tv, you're right.
Switching goaltenders for a shoutout isn't illegal. NHL rulebook states the switch is only illegal AFTER the shootout has begun. Many teams have done this before including the likes of San Jose and Edmonton.
Haha, I don't put up with a lot. Occasional ribbing when I wear my Leafs hat to school every day, but it's not that bad. Pretty sweet when they beat Ottawa. As for going to Leafs games in Ottawa, there's always thousands of Leafs fans, it's great.
haha, nice. Well, you'll probably have to add one more to that list of thousands of Leaf Fans packing Scotiabank Place, because at the rate ticket prices are going down here, I'll have to head outside of Toronto to see my Leafs Games.
Yeah. I try to go to all the Leafs games in Ottawa, but I might wait this year. I usually go to Daytona during March Break, and the Leafs just happen to be playing the Lightning and the Panthers that week. Hehe.

Before the game, Cujo gave the team a "shootout pep talk." ..told them not to over think their shot and to stick to what they know.
Ron Wilson probably wanted his goalie to put his money where his mouth is. Either that, or Wilson is super impressed Cujo bagged Shania. yaa!

As for the goalie switch, yeah it was questionable, not to mention ILLEGAL. I can't believe nobody stopped to realize that.

Really? I was sure Dallas wasn't allowed to switch at one point before the shootout last year.
LeafsFanInOttawa 3 years ago
It may have been a timing issue as in "we're starting the shootout, it's too late to change your goaltender."
The only time you're allowed to change your goalie DURING the shootout is due to injury. Other than that it's all fair game to switch before hand.
The more you know, I guess. lol
And on a side note...how is it being a Leaf fan in Ottawa? I've always been curious.
ataraxia7nostalgia 3 years ago
Yeah, probably.
