The Caspian Sea has $16 trillion dollars worth of OIL and GAS.The US oil industry wanted to build a pipeline through Afghanistan to exit at a place that was favourable to the US.Prior to invasion, first the Clinton & then Bush administration tried to woo the Taliban into signing an agreement.They held out! The pipeline still has not eventuated to my knowledge.That's the real reason for the invasion!
