This man is inspirational. We'd like to hear more practical ideas for fixing our government. Say the Federal Reserve were to be abolished. If all paper currency were to be thus forth backed by gold, wouldn't there be mass hoarding? And is there enough gold to cover every gold certificate? Would there be enough of these certificates to stimulate the entire economy? Could a true Liberal explain this to me?

Not saying we don't have an empire.. but why undo it! If it has to do with cost and we have bases in countries that might be benefitting from our presence, maybe we could arrange them to help to pay for them.
If its not cost and its just that we have people stationed places, they are going to be stationed on a base somewhere anyways.
1. cost is definitely one, its very very expensive. as for cost sharing, not many (if any) of these countries really want us there to the point that they would pay to have our bases on their land (not like most countries could afford the cost either)
2. many of these countries don't like our presence on their land, terrorists and extremists hate us because we're on their land, its simple.
3. we're not the policeman of the world, well we are, but we shouldn't be.
because our kids don't need to be turned into the world's mercenaries so they can die needlessly whenever there's a border dispute anywhere in the world.

Ron Paul seems like a good guy. With a very informed outlook on things. Unfortunately his unique character does not personify Strength. If Ron Paul had the leadership qualities and power in his voice that Obama has, he would've been nominated over McCain without a doubt. He's just doesn't have a strong presence. If him and France's president went into a room... I'd be afraid Ron Paul would get beat up or something. It takes more to be president than just good ideas.
