Does everybody know that Rugrats is all set within 1 year, as the babies never age. That year is 1991. You can tell by the fashions that it is early 1990s. All Grown Up is set 10 years later in 2001.

Yes you are absolutely right. But from what I gather each baby only ever had one birthday in the entire series. So I assume the series was still set in one year, but within every month of the year. For example, when we see Anjelica's birthday, it might be set for example in February 1991, and maybe when we see Dil's birth, it is September 1991, so we see all their birthdays only within one year. Do you think so?

@Gaznugget: The only problem with that would be Dil, since the TV series had "Family Tree"--the episode precursing Dil's arrival--air in the autumn, but the movie seems to imply that he was born in the spring or something. Maybe he was a late comer. LOL.

Yes well I suppose in the end it was just a cartoon and the developers probably never considered the whole timeline aspect of it. It's not that important really, it's just kind of interesting. The same kind of thing applies to The Simpsons. Notice how they are the same from the first episode from the 1980's all the way up to the present day. This would also imply a single year date, however, the world around them clearly ages, exept for the characters themselves.

Yeah, and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure Rugrats even is set in 1991. But it most likely is set this year due to this being the year Rugrats started. They all stay the same and wear the same fashions (the fashion from the time of the first episode: 1991) And it is confirmed that All Grown Up is 10 years later in 2001, and to be honest this is very believable. Rugrats screams early 1990's and All Grown Up screams early 2000's (decade) in my opinion. Do you agree?

@Gaznugget: Actually, the show had a 1990 pilot (Tommy and the Great White Thing), but otherwise, yes, it started in 1991. Indeed, 'Rats screams early 90's and AGU screams early 2000's in my opinion as well, but these are also characters who became timeless regardless of their fashions or whatever, because their experiences are universal, since we've all gone through the adventures of toddlerhood (where everything is larger than life) and the drama of being teens.
