wat do u mean by no timeline? wats so exciting abt timeline? i can confuse at times when ppl say that there is no timeline in imovie08. Please tell me what's the benefit of having timeline in imovie HD? or watch my video i made on imovie 08 comparing with imovie HD
Well I work for a video production company, that make Tv shows viewed by 13 million people daily. When we do video production we always use a timeline. Timelines are traditional in nature, a way to see the time in video in real sopace, so the space of a clip corralates to the time position in the clip
So imagine if a video clip was tangble (you could hold it) and you could scroll through the clip, it would represent a piece of video at a specific frame of video. So in iMovie '08 a small box represent (x) amount of video, so I could be at 12 minutes 23 seconds 12 miliseconds and would be looking at the same box representing (x) amount of time.
So in iMovie HD ('06) if I import a 20 minute clip, it would be really long, instead of the same box if it was 2 minutes or 20 minutes long. So think perspective and dynamics. It is easier to edit video represented by a scaled down representation of the clip, manifested in a timeline view.
yeh. i get your point. Imovie 06 can be used for big productions and stuff but for me a home user who make videos just as a hobby or for fun, i find imovie 08 a lot better. Imovie 08 does have timeline but it's just that the time is not calibrated or scaled down to millisecs. So its not accurate when you want to go further than secs.
What a....
Get back to me on that one!
