Good review. After seeing Lady in the Water, I'm gonna avoid The Happening and The Last Airbender like the plague. I thought Lady in the Water was very underrated (so was The Village). His first three films (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs) were GREAT. Signs will be my favorite film from M. Night Shyamalan

Everything in this movie is absolutely HILARIOUS. For pure entertainment value, it's honestly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

1. Saying that you've seen more suspenseful Twilight Zone episodes than the Happening is kind of a strange criticism, because The Twilight Zone is famous for its suspense.

2. I've seen bits of the movie (so I'm not saying I'm an expert on it), but it seems pretty funny, actually. I think I can compare The Happening to the wonderful movie Spiderman 3. Both movies are, for the most part, action/thriller, BUT if taken from the point of view of a comedy, they are really enjoyable to watch.

@MrKrevlornswath I think that the most notable part of the Twilight Zone reference is the "30 minute" part. In half an hour they can work in edge-of-the-seat suspense, dramatic tension, and a satisfying conclusion that answers the questions posed by the plot. This movie, which was well over 30 minutes, couldn't.

This movie's premise might have been better suited to being an episode of something like Outer Limits or the Twilight Zone, actually.

The Happening! Yes, your wallet was just sucked dry by yet another crap Hollywood movie, and there is No Refunds for Movies. If you like movies where the wind is supposed to be scary, this movie is for you. There were so many flaws, it was like a movie was made with no plot, no script, just a few scenes of people walking around for 1 1/2 hours. Avoid all future movies by the makers of the Happening. Let them crash and burn.

Let me restate my earlier comment. I was walkin along yesterday an thort heck. If actually paid to see dis at da cinema it wudda been maybe slightly faux pas. U pay to see action n adventure on the whole, n dis was not dose tings. Its a shame that it sucks. I liked the idea, but ideas are not always good when put to the test. M night is definatley loosing his touch. 6th sense was great, I enjoyed signs but the village was garbage. I hope his next film gets him back on his feet.

Loved your review! I agree, this movie sucked. It seemed like a bad, extended twilight zone episode. There was a strange paradox going on in this film because he tried very hard to build up suspense yet he gave away the explanation so quickly

I saw this film last week. The whole scene when Walburg is talking the an artificial plant as if he is making contact with an alien is both simultaniously painful and hilarious at the same time. The FAQ section has only 4 answers on IMDB meaning that no-one cares whats Happening. Sweet i just did it to.

My other half and I enjoyed this movie. It had enough suspense to keep you wondering, and even at one point made you wonder if this could really happen. To each their own, I guess. :)

It's like who would ever think of such plot?

I wasn't digging into little details and flaws of this movie, I liked the general idea which kept me on the edge of the seat.

But that feeling was self imposssed I didn't think M night captured the true horror and frantic attitudes of people.

Also, I don't know whether it would be better if people not only killed themselves but actually suffered pain while they were killing themselves.

Because those who were killing themselves were oblivious to their pain, maybe that's why you wouldn't feel for them as much - kinda like when we see zombies get killed - they WERE people, they still walk but they just don't care if they die

23grimm- I dunno but the thing is his twists are never fully fleshed out. Like he has a good idea but then stops at some point and gives up. For example, the village should have never gave up the fact that the elders dressed as manbearpig to scare people till the END.Her figuring that crap early just kinda made it silly and you just KNEW there was an outside world.
