Actually, pound for pound the American Alligator should have a stronger bite force. Since, Saltwater/Nile Crocodiles are much larger than most American Alligators, the Saltwater/Nile Crocodiles have stronger bite forces.

Is this because the Alligator/Caimans have a more brouder snout? Crocodiles are supposed to have more narrow jaws, but the nile/saltwaters must be an exception!
