It`s about time the people of the Uk said enough is enough. Barter. I`ve done it myself. I bought a shirt recently. The price was £25. I said, I`ll give you £20 for it. They ( a small family retailer ) replied that they`d let me have it for £22.50.I took it.
More recently I saw a shirt in Debenhams, £40.00. I told them I`d give them £33 for it.They wouldn`t budge.

I would have been in favour of nu-Labour's VAT cut if they had actually cut spending for it, and it had been a longer term comittment and not just some temporary gimmick. Vat at 20%? FFS.....
Socialists are thieves and parasites. Poland has VAT at 22% (and they considered increasing it to 23% during the crisis, can you believe it?), the highest in Europe, and still is a very poor country comparing to Germany or UK. I don' t think that the whole political class is that dumb, I think they just don't care people get poorer while slave masters get richer. Nations need statesmen and leaders, not daft technocrats.
