I'm 16 years and I love the classics. I hate CGI, I prefer particle effects. I love black and white movies and I only watch movies that were before and up to the mid 90's. I rarely watch newer movies, I love movies from the 20's,30's,40's,50's,60's,70's,and the 80's. I love the old universal monster movies and Creature from the black lagoon is one of my favorites. This movie used to scare the crap out of me.
Back when I was like 11 y/o, I was so completely horrified after watching this movie that I sat there, in a trance, while my friends popped in Aliens I. I sat through Aliens, but I didn't actually watch it. I was just sitting there, horrified. After Aliens I, my friends went to bed, and I was still too horrified to go to the bathroom. I eventually ran to the bathroom and got most of it where it's supposed to go, but some definitely got on my jeans too.
So what if she is a teenage girl, we have some brilliant girls and boys at my school, and to top it all off, it's a public school. So next time your talking about a person you don't know, try to think that they have a brain and feelings too
@TheMovieman4ever you got admit in the 50s or what ever time they were costumes but the movie was still good i jus hope the remake is good like The A team remake that was kick ass
Personally I love the old classics such as this (hard to fit in though when you're 17 and people around you don't appreciate art like this but hey that's their loss). Along with the Frankenstein Monster, The Invisible Man, and The Wolfman, the Gill-Man is my favourite Universal Monster. It's man in a suit style at it's best and most mature and a step ahead of most B movies. If there's any flaw with the classics I'd say it was just that the trailers gave away alot. But otherwise they RULE!
You are very smart for being just 17, man. You have a real appreciation for classic pictures, the like we will never see again. I grew up with the classics, and its cool as hell to see somebody thats as young as you are that likes them. You have real good taste, and it says a lot about you as a person, man. You rock!
Thanks :). I feel it's a necessity to appreciate the GOOD monsters and movies amidst all this Twilight and remake phase everyone's going through. I can be okay with CGI if it's done well, but there's often no real sense of a threat from the monsters of today. Here there's is. But it's tiring to see the classic momnsters "re-imagined" or turned into romance and how others judge you for liking them. My sister for example makes fun of my reading of Dracula but she read Twilight in no time!
She's actually rather smart and also when I said she reads Twilight I mean more that she read it and saw the movies and liked them but wasn't loving them, but she is young and unable to accept older things. She likes to watch bad movies to make fun of them and likes to trash the older ones because their "fake". That's okay at times, but some of the best movies ever were black and white. They didn't need eye candy or gore. Just story. But she's a teenage girl so explaining that to her is useless.
Yeah. That's kind of the point though. It's not like you're going to find a dead person who smells like Irish Spring or anything like that. Of course since he's alive it's living tissue so he just looks dead. It isn't very pleasant for him either in the book or movies though.
If your referring to finding the Universal movies like this one it's not that hard to do. Most of the stores that sell dvds have those films on the Universal Legacy Collections. That's probably best because you get all the films of those series on them. If they aren't there, then just go online and order them or order it from a bookstore (if they aren't already there).
It seems to vary, but usually they cost about $20-25. Still for 4-5 films a pack that's reasonable given their quality. It's not like those Mill Creek horror box-sets where they get your attention by selling 20/50/100 films a pack for very low prices, but 85% of the films are bad and the picture and sound quality leave much to be desired (plus all of them are public domain so you can just find some of them on Youtube anyway), here you actually get a good deal.
@ClassicRockfan79 i think it all whent down hill at some point in the 90s all horror is now is people getting tortured but with all gore but not realy scary atall
im tired of all the saw movies thats for sure.. i was watching Hauting of Winchester House, about 2 nights ago, i liked it, it was really good until the end, when the family found out that they were really dead and were actually ghost also! seems like i have seen a movie with a shocking end like that before, lol . if you havent seen the movie hope i didnt mess the end up for you. but nothing is original these days.
a very cool movie, i like the old horror and sc fi classics, they had more class than the horror movies of today. i ll just watch the classics others can wait on yet another SAW movie, i dont care lol

The creature from the black lagoon was my all time favorite monster growing up. I saw the movie and immediatly fell in love with it. I even had a plushie of him at one time. I really hope they remake the movie for the new generation to behold this amazing monster. Hell, they should start up a gillman monster line of multi media. As much as I love werewolves, they and vampire (much, much greater to the later) are overrated. Gillman RULEZ!!!!

They actually planned a remake for 2011 with director Breck Eisner, writer Gary Ross, the son of the original Creature writer Arthur A. Ross, and Brian Steele as the Gillman himself. Brian Steele as played Werewolves in the Underworld movies like William, Sammael in Hellboy, Mr. Wink in Hellboy II, the Tyrant in Resident Evil 3, and the T-600 in Terminator Salvation so I'd recommend him all the way. But the writers' strike it got postponed, they lost the director, and the production got shelved.
