@KuroNekoPL I'm not sure of this, but I was under the impression that the Greek hoplites usually held their spears overarm when in phalanx formation, since their hoplon shields were simply too large, along with the fact that the hoplites were so tightly packed together, to allow for underarm thrusting.

@RocketHarry865 No one would use over head stab. It makes absolutely no sense. And there were not spears thrown from horseback. Javelins, yes, but not spears. (Actually, there's no such weapon as throwing spear...)

@RocketHarry865 By overhead you also mean overarm? Because if yes then it do not make sense. Your reach will be greatly reduced just as your thrust strength.With overarm(and overhead) thrust you also make your armpits a good target, as they are usually unarmored.

I would love to use your mods, but one thing about them really prevents me from getting into them; your stances.

The problem is most of your references for sword combat (Not just in this video) seem to be taken from dueling techniques used by reenactors. All of these overhead stances weren't really used in combat, especially with a shield. Shields were used for parrying, blocking, & quick thrusting from behind your cover. You would never chop and slash while using one, it defeat the purpose.

@Rakkoz First question: what's your source on all that?

Furthermore: how would slashing and choppiing defeat the purpose of a shield? Did you consider that shields tend to break? If the other guy has a shield as well, would you still only use that quick thrust? And there are more but then my post gets too long.

@Rakkoz In Warband, characters are vulnerable when attacking - that's why the shield is not held in a defensive position during attacks. Hands start and end high to facilitate blending between animations - other positions will result in strange recovery movements (like those in Native, where spamming the same attack gives a recovery movement that is twice as fast as the attack and opposes momentum). Readability was another concern. Thanks for the comment!
