Last time I saw the band was in The Roundhouse in Camden Town. They were great. They sang a song with a punchline 'One of the boys?. Is that the name of the song????
Yep; it was that very name. You'll find a great live version on the 'Caught In The Act' LP - don't know if its been released on CD or not. Another excellent live song was Mr Jones...and one of the best live gigs I remember was watching them at the Cleethorpes Winter Gardens around 1976 - an iconic venue now reduced to dust (though I own a brick salvaged by a friend from the building site..)
I first saw Steve in the mid / late 70s at the Birmingham Odeon in a Christmas concert that went out on BRMB radio. It was the legendary line-up Burton, Lamb, Wilson Carroll.
His God-given talents still grace the stage with an unrivalled presence, varied repertoire and delivery - appreciate his humility in this clip, too. Get to see him live while you still have breath!
This is the man that defined rock and roll in the UK before maturing into an excellent Americana style roots rocker with influences as far removed as Bob Dylan, Elvis and Buddy Holly.
One of the few tue carftmen of stage still fornting a birlliant band, the Steve Gibbons B
