The Apple TV finder is same as the front row App on Mac OS X, only the one on Apple TV is more advanced, especially the newer Apple TV OS that allows you to stream videos.

guys... i have the frontrow apple tv skin, all it does replace the existing icons with the ones of apple tv.

the skin doesn't give the side bar menu, etc.

he hacked the apple tv firmware and made it run on his macbook. it's not the frontrow skin

don't be ridiculous. This is not the apple TV OS. This an apple TV app running on a full version of OS X. Obviously OS X has to boot before it can launch the app. An actual Apple TV unit starts up fast because it's such a stripped down version of OS X. This isn't fake. Don't be dumb.
