If you spam shoot close to the front of the screen, the number of shots allowed becomes infinite as long as there's more than 5 shots on the screen at once.
Obviously it's impossible to make this happen under normal circumstances because if you're in a static screen, once you turn around, you wont be able to keep 5 shots or more up because their travel speed is too low before they reach the end of the screen.
So, the push-back of the rockets allows you to continue shooting in one direction, while being pulled backwards so you have good range on mecha-birdo, and her hit-box allows bullets to remain on-screen for a short enough time to allow the stream to continue.
The stream stops when I have to start jumping, because I stop hitting shoot in favour of jumping, which makes the shot count reset since there arent as many bullets flying.

This was filmed in boss rush mode, which there isn't a difficulty setting for.
However, regardless of which difficulty setting you choose, even very hard/impossible, the bosses themselves never change. It's just the enemy layout in the stages that changes.

It's not a turbo button, it's really my finger just going insanely fast. I could do it since I was a little kid on my NES, lol.
At the beginning of the fight, it is possible to get more than 5shots going if you start shooting insanely fast near the front of the screen like I did when the battle starts.

Because it works like this:
If you spam shoot close to the front of the screen, the number of shots allowed becomes infinite as long as there's more than 5 shots on the screen at once.
Obviously it's impossible to make this happen under normal circumstances because if you're in a static screen, once you turn around, you wont be able to keep 5 shots or more up because their travel speed is too low before they reach the end of the screen.
