this position can be very dangerous for the cats vertebreal column. one must watch out to make sure that it isn't completely flat, or else the back will align itself w/ the ground and cause long-lasting damage to its ability to walk and function normally. a soft ground would be much better for this behavior.

LOL! My cat, Midnight, sleeps like that all the time. She's chubby as well -had place her on diets but doesn't work, my vet told me that besides being OW she's fine-. That kitty looks as content and relaxed as my kitty looks when she sleeps with her belly up. This morning she brought me a lizard, she was meowing happily....then she went to sleep...again. hehehehehhehe
