either u lie about paying 500 for the car or some idiot sold u that car... chop up the parts and sell em for much more like the top cemment says the turbo or rollover cage can easily be sold for 500
There was one of these crap car races up here in Tennessee and i'm not sure if this is the same miata but there was a turbo one that ran the one here and they got fined BIG TIME for spending over the $500 marker and at the end of the race everyone got to vote on one car among them all to be crushed and...who do you think it was? The whole point of the these crap car 24 hour races is to have fun and when teams like these enter and cheat it isn't any.
Most chumpcar/lemons races dont consider "safety items" (cage/seats/brakes/tires/etc) against the price of the car. and you can sell items off of the car to drop the price. i bought my last miata for 800 bucks in good running shape. (this one obviously could be cheaper lol) sell off the seats/interior etc can drop that easily below 500. if it had a hardtop they sell for 1k+. get a junkyardturbo for 50 bucks, and do everything custom welded by yourself. its not that hard to do.
For all of you saying how did they get it for $500, did you notice how shitty it ran in the beginning? The PO prolly fucked it up and then gave up on it and needed it gone. Besides it a "chumpcar" this is what they do.
@stenner302 Its probably not street legal, so its ONLY a track car. Miatas are cheap to begin with, so if you cant drive it on the street, there really is no value in it, and the market for track miatas, that cant be driven on the road is very very small. And a roll cage for a miata runs for about $300, if you do it yourself you could do it for as low as 150, and a used turbo costs no more than $150, you can pick up a turbo for $60 from junk yard. This cas IS worth $500, fair price...
4 retards can figure out the car is off timing. looks like 4 brains are not better than 1.

@stenner302 I think the cage can be added, as well as brakes. Other than that you cannot spend any money on "upgrades."
The turbo probably came with the car. It's obviously having problems, which is probably why the previous owner sold it for so cheap.
