  • nothing like christopher lee abuuu

  • i like jack skelator

  • "Tron", is in the security program Tron?

  • THIS IS EPIC!!

  • The artwork for this is so beautiful. Tim Burton creates magic like no-one else!

  • OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOES THIS ACTUALLY COME IN A CHILDREN'S BOOK? MUST HAVE!!!!!!! It's so cool to see Tim Burton's actual drawings playing out the story!

  • Indeed it does. The book I got came with Patrick Stewart's narration on CD, and it's where I got most of the images for this. :)

  • @Bobzeaux

anything Patrick Stewart does makes it awesome :)

  • @TheChoujinVirus

    Case in point...

    watch?v=OjNKyoRudOQ

  • @Bobzeaux

hah! Let's see William Shatner do that

  • Patrick Stewart could make anything fantastic.

  • Awesome!!!!!!

  • reminds me a little of dr suess

  • I love the music, if i could sing, i would sing the lyrics to this song

  • Great job on this video, Bob! Looks like a PBS video, or something.

  • Reading Rainbow (which is CANCELLED now?? Wtf?) was a big inspiration in the making of this. *lol*

  • EXACTLY! I loved that damn show! Seriously, great camera work!

  • god.. i fall in love with jack<3<3<3

  • I grew up on this movie, I don't mind how people buy NBC merchandise from Hot Topic, as long as they've actually SEEN the movie.

  • Hell I am happy as all get out hot topic sells the items do you know how odd it was to go into the disney store and buy nothing but jack items, dressed the way I normally do I swear one mother cringed and took her child in her arms.

  • Soo cool!! like a story book!!

  • supah koool ;)

  • sorry if my previous comment there is like ..... I could write for Jack BOTH .....

and sorry if my English is not precise, but I'm Italian

  • Better than the Christopher Lee version (sorry Chris). Yay King Lear!

  • I LOVE Jack Skeletron!!

  • Skeletron... Why hasn't THAT guy been made into a new Decepticon?? >:D *lol*

  • @wiwalamusica its Skellington....?

  • @felleberre i'm italian and the italian translation is in that way, i don't know why it has been changed, maybe 'cause "skeletron" is more similar to the italian word to say "skeleton", "scheletro". anyway, it wasn't my fault, but the italian translation : )

  • @wiwalamusica That would be Jack in the TRON world.

  • @cesarjimenezanimator i'm sorry, but in the ITALIAN world LOL

go to the italian wikipedia, you'll see how it is translatered in italy ; )

  • @wiwalamusica It was just a joke. "Skele-TRON".

  • @wiwalamusica Skellington.Not Skeletron.Skellington.

  • @sonic921roblox as i told about.. two years ago in this video, i'm italian, and in italy the name was translatered as "skeletron". after I knew that the original name wasn't it, but in that moment i wrote as the italian translation say : )

  • Tim Burton should have kept Zero's Jack 'O Lantern nose for the movie.

  • It can be hard to make out, but it's still there if you look closely at it.

  • Oooohh. All these years and I missed it. Thanks for letting me know. :)

  • i love him xD T T

  • LOL!:DHristmas town!:D

  • de donde lo as sacado??

  • I thought the original poem was narrated Christopher Lee.

  • That was just for the new DVD. This narration has been with the book for years upon years (hence Patrick Stewart's involvement in the soundtrack CD).

  • You did a great job on this!

I listened to the ones on here that are from the dvd, and I actually like this one better.

    :-]

  • I like thinking I did a better job with the music. And Patrick Stewart is just so much more into it than Christopher Lee. :P

  • Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't read the video info :P

My mistake, thanks for uploading anyway ^^

  • Oh God I love it! I haven't heard this poem before, which is a great pity, it's so amazing. Did you do this video all by yourself, or was it already done and you uploaded it here? If you made this, I kneel before you! 5/5 and favs -^^-

  • I did make this. While the poem they have on the 2-disc Nightmare DVD has me thoroughly spanked, I think I did a better job with the sound mixing (imho).

  • You DID?? This is absolutely brilliant! I just thought that other parts have some kind of special effects, so I assumed this was made by someone who was working on this movie or something like that... Anyway, you've done a great job!

  • I've loved the Nightmare Before Christmas since I was a little kid.

Ha it's kind of funny because my brothers & sisters were all scared of it, but I watched it when I was about 3 and have loved it ever since.

    Great video. Awesome poem.

  • who did these drawings anywho?

    r they by tim burton?

  • Most of it is by Burton himself, the rest are from the various conceptual artists who worked on the movie.

  • Love it... Beautiful.

  • its a shame i dont know englisch that good any1 know where i can find parts or the whole movie with dutch subs?

  • quite creative! ^ ^

  • Check out the new PipersPicksTV episode all on "Nightmare"

    TeamPiper & Piper Reese

    PipersPicksTV

  • Yes, DO check it out, everyone. It's just adorable. ^_^

  • I like the song

  • Which one?

  • kewl

  • To all of you who have enjoyed my short here, can I get a little love?

    watch?v=XbPCwc_Cdz0

  • I consider the Hot Topic exposure a mixed blessing. It's nice that Jack's face is out there more now than he was when we first met him (how did a movie as good as this take so long to find its audience? <:S), but it's turning him into... blech... a TREND. O_o

(I've still got my original Santa Jack bendy toy too. Seeing him hanging in my Christmas stocking was too f***ing awesome. *lol*)

  • EMO???!

  • Genital warts...

  • i'm emo and i've liked jack for ages before i became emo. dont judge people

  • I agree completely.

I liked it way before alot of people that do now. I'm so over it now, too many people are obsessed.

  • @MabonFaeries I agree completely. I've been watching it every christmas since i was 5. Now it's super popular because of "Hot Topic."

  • I love how Disney produced the movie through Touchstone because they were wary of having a title like "The Nightmare Before Christmas" bearing the Disney name, but now that it's a huge hit, you see subsequent releases of it with Walt Disney Pictures' name on it.

'Oh, yeah! See?? Disney made this movie all along!! You like it, huh???' <;D *lol*

  • @Bobzeaux Hahahhaa. They also wanted to make a sequel for the money, but tim burton said no, because it would ruin the purity of Jack. [:

  • Thank God the video game was enough to satisfy their sequel jones. *lol*

  • @MsPink67 I plan to make animated series based on the movie when I go work for Disney... if I do, that is. To bring back "classics" to Disney Channel.

  • @cesarjimenezanimator Please do. <3

  • @MsPink67 Sure, if they let me. I'll just tell them that they're loosing their classics and that they should bring them back, plus make new ones. So, since many people became fans of the movie, what better way to celebrate than to make Jack Skellington series animated based on the movie.

  • @cesarjimenezanimator I get your point of telling them that they're losing their classics, but I think Nightmare Before Christmas sequels was not what Tim Burton wanted. He quotes that "it would ruin the purity of Jack."

  • @MsPink67 How?

They did make a NBC videogame as a sequel and they did show Jack at Disney On Ice with the villians as if he were already back to Halloween?

    Why not some TV series?

Jack could explore more Holiday Worlds, problems would run in Halloween Town, and Oogie Boogie returns to cause more mayhem.

  • @cesarjimenezanimator I get what you mean. But it's not what Tim Burton wanted.

  • @MsPink67 Besides, they did include Jack in Kingdom Hearts. Those are like sequels, right?

If you want to understand me, why not compose messages to me, instead of these comment bars, because I can't fit EVERYTHING I want to say here. It's too small.

  • @MabonFaeries your so dumb they dont like it cause its dark they like becasue its a great movie

  • oooh, ok...that is true, I just dont like how everyone (like you said) is only watching it like once and they get all "ITS MY FAVORITE!"...and they get all their "Jack" stuff from Hot Topic, you gotta understand I am a metal head.

That goes for Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Warriors.

  • right on Bobzeaux!

    Fuck Hot Topic!

  • Well, no, don't FUCK Hot Topic since they are getting Jack's image out there, but kids these days need to know who he REALLY is (and hopefully the new DVD set will show them).

  • this is one of the best vids on NMBC i have seen here.

    the drawings are amazing.

i absolutely love this video and i hate how nowadays ppl who have only seen it once are like "omg i looooove this movie" i dont blame them but theyre just trying to fit in and its annoying and an embarassment when they know nothing about it.

  • "i hate how nowadays ppl who have only seen it once are like "omg i looooove this movie""

Well, at least they've SEEN it instead of thinking that Jack is just that cool skull guy from Hot Topic. >:P

BTW, check out the new 2-disc DVD of the movie. They have a recreation of the original poem like my vid here, and it opens EXACTLY like this one with the jack-o-lantern lighting the scene. Oh yeah. I'm so good, Disney's ripping my stuff off. >:D *lol*

  • Nice XD!

  • is this the 2d version?

  • No, I made this.

The 2D (original) version is simply the original film without having the 3D effects applied to it.

  • LOVE IT! thanks for uploading it!

  • I LOVE THIS! it's very good. it bothers me how some people only like tnbc because they saw something abotu it at HoT tOpIc...stupid store...

  • God bless Hot Topic for giving it some more exposure, but I have this sad feeling that too many folks know Jack Skellington only as the guy on the patch safety-pinned to their packpack. <:P

  • agreed. silly punk style is stealing our beloved story and making mockery of it >:(

  • And worse, it's dragging Tim Burton right along with it. <:S Is he the artist behind such award-winning films as Ed Wood, Batman, & Big Fish? Nope. He's that gothy, emo freak who made that skeleton guy that all the weirdos in high schools around the country worship. Ugh...

  • :( what's really bad is someone was wearing a big TNBC jacket and i started talking to them about it and asked what they liked about it. all they said was "I don't know. This guy just looks cool" pointing to jack.....i was like...you better just take that jacket off right now... unworthy git!

  • i must say that some of the people who wear the clothes do know a little something. I have many Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas things, and i know the whole story, and all the songs, and remixes, and just about every word in the movie. it has really inspired me. and Tim Burton is an amazing man. he has recreated and made original movies that have made up most of my life. see we all arent stupid about art.

  • it bothers me too, i wish more people knew about the movie, but u and i know what it is and that's the only thing that matters, i love the movie i grew up on it and the poem.

  • Did you make the poem and narrate it? Or is it off a cd or summit I didnt know itbwas a poem at 1st!

  • Thank you for thinking me that creative, but this poem was written a few years before I was even born. :P Burton wrote it himself back when he was a Disney animator, and this narration is by Patrick Stewart on a CD that accompanies the book (where most of the art in this vid comes from).

  • wer is this from???

  • I made it myself. :)

  • =] this is great i love this movie

  • I didn't draw it. This is all illustrations from the book, and concept art and storyboards for the movie.

  • Whiiii XD I have the book!

I'm so happy :) Nice work!

    LOVE TNBC!

  • August 26th, a new, even specialer edition DVD comes out! >:D

  • i love it all

  • this is the book isnt it??

  • Most of it is. The rest of it is storyboard & concept art for the movie. (Taking Tim Burton's original pic at 2:52 and animating it was a REAL trick. *lol*)

  • cool!

  • I love the movie and this

  • Where did this come from?

    Is that really Patrick Stewart?

  • I made it myself. :) The Patrick Stewart narration (which is REAL) came on CD with the Nightmare Before Christmas storybook.

  • Every time tim burton amazes me more but after seeing this .... this man is extraordinary I adore this peli thank you very much this marvellously jack lives through the video!!!!

  • You're welcome. :)

Now all I gotta do is figure out how to get Disney to air this during the holidays...

  • Actually, Disney Channel just aired the movie in October of 2007

  • And it was full of commercial breaks. Wtf is THAT all about? >:P

I was talking about getting THIS aired on the Disney Channel, ABC, or one of their other affiliates. How cool would that be? :)

  • That would be cool! Showing this on Disney would inspire many people to show more!

  • I'm suddenly wondering what they're going to do with Christopher Lee reading the poem for the new Nightmare DVD. Are they going to put the narration to various pieces of art like I did? O_O Excited!

  • That would be awsome! I cant wait till it comes out! Im getting it the second it goes on shelf!

  • Yeah, Christopher Lee is the best actor ever! He should narrate the poem instead of Patrick Stewart

  • hahaha !!!!!!..... you wish friend! ^.^

  • it is very cool this movie is my favourite and I love jack skellington

  • love it ^_^

  • i love the picture that was shown when Jack had picked up the snow:D

  • Nightmare Before X-Mas is one of my FAVORITE movies!!!!!! FAVORITED!!!!!! :D

  • I agree with you, i love this movie, I can't stop watching it, but as you keep watching it you notice alot of things that you did not see before, My mother did not notice that Zero's nose is a pUmkin

  • This is some awesome-ly awesome.. *favs*

  • i love it!!! Nightmare Before X-Mas is my fourth favourite movie!!!! GREAT JOB! 5 STARZ!

  • Halloween Town looks kinda like the 'Neither world' (Tim Burton's Beetlejuice) but then as HE created both in quite a close timescale, it's to be expected - gr8 stuff here!!!

  • Man, can you imagine the nightmare that the set builders would have to endure if Halloween Town DID look like that first pic?? O_O

  • Awsome animation - who created it ? Bob Thomas ?

  • Yup. This is my baby. :) But Tim Burton and all of Henry Selick's artists created it. All I did was edit the art together with Elfman's music and Patrick Stewart's narration.

  • Wow - excellent work. What software did you use. They should add this to the DVD as "Bonus Material" - if they ever release it again. Well done !

  • Wow, thanks. :) This was all done using nothing but Photoshop and Final Cut Pro (a much older version than what should be preferred). If you're a PC person, I highly recommend you get a Mac computer for THAT if nothing else. *l*

  • hey id love to get a copy of the book if anyone knows where please contact me!! thanks!!

  • Hot Topic is a pretty good bet. I think they're also sold in any of the Disney parks that are around.

  • JACK =3

    I LOVE YOU

  • I LOVE YOU JACK!!!!

  • Good, you're supposed to. *lol*

  • JACKK <3

  • wow!!!!!

i had no idea it started as a book.

i should have known...all the best movies come from books first:)

  • And best of all, director Henry Selick knew his movie could ONLY work if he was as true to the source material as possible. *l*

  • awesome, I always wanted to read the original book.

  • esta genial!! :)

  • to answer your question, Bob:

it reminds me of someone just as lovely, witty, sophisticated, a little spooky, tender, funny, sad and wise as Jack.

Never thought there was a film I´d love to see twice.

    j

  • And who would that be? That could be ANYBODY. *l*

  • Hey, it's the nightmare before christmas book! There is a book about this movie.:)

  • Well, technically, the movie is based on the book, not the other way around... *lol*

  • Oh, thanks for clearing my mind! I never watched the movie,:( only the book, (but is the book the same thing like the movie?)

  • It's pretty much the same thing. A bored Jack Skellington discovers Christmas, loves it, decides to give it himself in Santa Claus' stead, accidentally terrorizes the world with his Christmas, gets shot down by the military, and goes back to Halloween reinvigorated.

  • Thanks! Now THAT really cleared my mind!:)

  • thx for posting this. Reminds me of someone very, very special.

  • Aside from Tim Burton, Patrick Stewart, and Danny Elfman, who does this remind you of who is very, very special?

  • "And so that his friends wouldn't think him a liar. He took the present filled stockings hung by the fire."

(From How The Grinch Stole Christmas) "And up the chimney he went, the old liar. And the last thing he took was the log for their fire.

    Lol... I couldn't help it...X)

  • Patrick Stewart did a great job!

  • So who drew these pix? they are beautiful.

  • Most of it is done by Tim Burton himself, the rest are done by the concept and storyboard artists at Disney and Touchstone.

I drew one of the pics in Part III. See if you can spot it. :)

  • Well then Burton did a great job, if you did add a pix of your own, FANTASTIC! it perfectly blends in.

  • What could be better than Danny Elfman, Tim Burton and Patrick Stewart all at once? Brilliant.

I also love the closing of the movie w/ Patrick narrating.

  • I REALLY wanted to include the epilogue that no one has ever seen before, but there was no art anywhere that depicted a slightly older Jack or his 4 or 5 skeleton children playing strange little tunes in their xylophone band. <:P

  • I found the original book with these pictures at the Disneyland Resort. From October to December, all the stores featured TNBC stuff. Anyway, not all of these picures came from the book. And there was no soundtrack of Patrick Stewart with it. So what gives?

  • And jack sat, and he thought, and he thought, and he got an idea.

(A wonderful idea. Jack got a wonderful/awful idea) XD

  • Crap, now I'm in the mood for a little Christmas with Karloff, but it's still too early.... *lol*

  • Sorry, I couldn't help myself... and who's Karloff?

  • Boris Karloff, the movie legend (Frankenstein's creature)?? He also narrated How The Grinch Stole Christmas. :P

  • Oh yeah.... Sorry about that, I couldn't ignore the allusion.

  • I watched this film when I was almost an Baby...

Because when I borned, this film was made...

Since then it's my favourite film...

  • i have never actaully seen the whole movie until today. AND my sister and my brother watched it 12 times a week when they were my age

  • How old is this

  • How old is this video? Not even a year old. The story itself is over TWENTY years old. *l*

  • it was made in 1993

  • i love tim burtons poems ive got all the books lol but clam boy is the best one lol

  • Is this from a book?

  • yeh tim burton wrote loads of poems

  • This book was in my school Library...o.o and I'm in High school! XD I wanted to sign it out but someone beat me to it.

  • Aww, dude, that's not cool. Don't deface books, especially one as well-received as Nightmare.

But hey, good to know that high school administrators don't think that having Burton's works in school will inspire emotional teens to slit their wrists. *lol*

  • LOL what??? I didn't deface it...I mean Sign it out from the library...I would never do that...I would but the book in a glass box and praise it! XD

  • I'm an idiot. I missed the phrase "sign OUT" in your last comment.... *lol*
