Hi, I have a sony KLV-46W550A (middle east model) and it has DLNA with video function but it cannot playback any video. I tried avi, wmv, mp4, mkv, mov, 3gp... nothing worked for me. :/
I couldn't find anything related to my model on Sony website so I just looked for sample clips on the internet and to my shock mpeg worked perfectly but I did not find any AVCHD samples to try, however, I'm sure it will work as well since ARW (sony RAW pictures) work fine.
And we just talk about streaming content. Not the USB connection.
If media server used is capable of a lot of different media types you will succeed.(and of course check for DLNA 1.5 compliance.)
Bravia KDL-40EX40B with Wild Media or even Windows media player is running nearly 100% of all the stuff I had collecetd over the year in my local network. FLV, IFO, mov, raw pictures anything can work. Or try other serversoftware.

Hi, My KDL-40\w5 supports mepg and AVCHD format only. It doesn't support AVI, wmv, mp4, mkv, mov, 3gp.
Could you check the User's Guide of your KLV-46W550A? You might be able to find it at the Sony's web site.
Cheers,

It´s strongly linked to the used media server.
