Storm Shadow never had the Hard Master killed; Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were only briefly rivals; Scarlett was only with Snake Eyes, never Duke; Snake Eyes lost his voice saving Scarlett in a helicopter accident, not by a gunshot wound; etc.

@pacificimporters Larry Hama's filecard for Snake Eyes indicates that he was trained in a variety of fighting styles, including Karate, Jujutsu, Kung Fu, Judo, etc. Ninjutsu is not a style, it is a system of skills used by the Shinobi(Ninja), one of which was called Taijutsu(body art), which was hand to hand combat. Although I'm sure some Jujutsu techniques went into Taijutsu, no one knows for sure what additional fighting skills the Ninja developed. Some say Chinese martial arts were added.

And yes, Barbara Gordon was Batgirl, but her career came to an abrupt end when she was shot and paralyzed by The Joker in The Killing Joke. The Joker was attempting to drive Comm. Gordong crazy. But Barbara continued to help Batman out from her wheelchair by changing her name to Oracle and using her computer skills as a crimefighter.

She was created by Christopher Nolan as a character that gave Bruce Wayne a connection to past and his childhood. Originally, screenwriter David Goyer had inteded to follow Batman: Year One's subplot with Harvey Dent as Bruce's childhood friend and confidante in 'Batman Begins,' but both he and Nolan didn't think they could pull it off at the time.

@sfighter991 I LOVED 'The Killing Joke.' One of the best Batman stories ever written, and the only Alan Moore graphic novel that didn't seem overly pretentious and boring. Yeah, I heard about Barbara Gordon regaining her ability to walk and becoming Batgirl again. I guess it had to happen sooner or later, but it doesn't lessen the impact that 'Kiling Joke' had.

It looks as though Snake Eyes just grazed Storm Shadow with an instant kill move to prove that even though SS constantly bragged about being the better student, SE could have ended it anytime he wanted - basically it was just a means to seriously piss him off.
That right there is the end of a feud that began when i was a kid lol. Epic final match, although i think it gave people the wrong impression. Snake eyes and storm shadow were even matched for years, i think they made it a bit one sided but that is probably just a personal opinion.

@Cobra1098 Funny you should say that, because near the end of the original Marvel comics series' 155 issue run, the final battle was fought between Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander. The Commander was suited up in powered exoskeletal armor and took on Snake Eyes hand to hand, while Snake Eyes chose to fight unmasked. This was after Snake Eyes had the corrective surgery to repair his face, of course.
I'd like to point out that cobra can make all these weapons block satellites around the world destroy countries at will and yet the GI Joe always win but for some reason they just can't seem to fix Snake Eyes vocal cords.

The other versions are dictated by Hasbro not wanting to depict the horrific helicopter accident where Snake Eyes' face and vocal chords were scarred while saving Scarlett's life. This is done for their convenience, so they don't have to deal with Snake Eyes and Scarlett's romantic relationship, as well as so much of the mythology involving Snake Eyes, which sucks.

@JohnBuckStrange i think the main point was cutting off his armbands, and showing how he's got the ninja tatoo on one side, but a cobra tatoo on the other, kinda a commentary on how he's a traitor or two-faced...best guess I got.

It looks as though Snake Eyes just grazed Storm Shadow with an instant kill move to prove that even though SS constantly bragged about being the better student, SE could have ended it anytime he wanted - basically it was just a means to seriously piss him off.

That right there is the end of a feud that began when i was a kid lol. Epic final match, although i think it gave people the wrong impression. Snake eyes and storm shadow were even matched for years, i think they made it a bit one sided but that is probably just a personal opinion.

@Cobra1098 Funny you should say that, because near the end of the original Marvel comics series' 155 issue run, the final battle was fought between Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander. The Commander was suited up in powered exoskeletal armor and took on Snake Eyes hand to hand, while Snake Eyes chose to fight unmasked. This was after Snake Eyes had the corrective surgery to repair his face, of course.

It's a combination of that punch the the first 6. I believe the idea is the first 6 disable the person while the 7th kills them? If he exploded that would have been cheesy as hell or somebody likes fist of the north star too much.

@eisenkreuzmusik No, there's only one version of how Snake Eyes lost his voice, and that's creator Larry Hama's version. The other versions are dictated by Hasbro not wanting to depict the horrific helicopter accident where Snake Eyes' face and vocal chords were scarred while saving Scarlett's life. This is done for their convenience, so they don't have to deal with Snake Eyes and Scarlett's romantic relationship, as well as so much of the mythology involving Snake Eyes, which sucks.

Larry Hama loosely based Snake Eyes' storyline on a man he knew in Vietnam named Robert Light, a helicopter door gunner in the U.S. Army Air Cavalry. Snake Eyes original name was going to be "Shadow" and Scarlett's was "Spook" back when Hama first developed his unpublished SHIELD vs. HYDRA comic called 'Fury Force,' intended to be a spin-off of the Nick Fury series, long before GI JOE.

Snake Eyes and Scarlett were on a mission in the middle east when thier helicopter malfunctioned and collided with another helicopter. Scarlett became trapped in her harness and Snake Eyes stayed behind to cut her loose(yes, she's HIS girlfriend, not Duke's). An explosion hit Snake Eyes in the face, damaging his face and vocal chords, and he carried Scarlett out of the wreckage.
